If Forums is Majority Plat Below, Why No Hate for Orisa?

I’m going to expose my bias here. Even though I play other tanks I prefer playing Rein, Hog, and Ball the most. They make up like 75% of my tank games in QP. But in comp I do go whatever tanks are most viable. I still play plenty of Orisa too. Hence my takes on Orisa being annoying and overtuned.

I play mostly meta, recently started learning Sigma cuz hes so darn strong on long ranged maps, then D.va cuz Pharmercy, bk then i played most of the cast other than Sigma (cuz i quit on double shield), Ball (cuz of the ridiculous skill-ceilling and also not meta for the longest time) and D.va ( personal preference, took to Winston more)

But i also flex, my real bias is towards fun and balanced games.

The “go shield tank” pushers were there but it wasn’t a must have on the team until GOATS and then Orisa+Hog bunker imo. Solo tanking or even having no tanks was viable in my games up until the devs rolled out role queue.

If you wanted to win at a average-high lvl, ya picked a shield, or two.

I don’t disagree that having a barrier tank brought immediate team value compared to random team comps who only had one or two shieldless tanks. Players were sick of getting shattered or wiped by dva bombs. But tanks were still considered fat bullies back in the day who jumped on players usually killing them until the devs added more supports that could out heal it or survive the dive.

If by back in tha da you mean random QP games, balance is not really important for that, people were still learning/not trying to win, even on comp bk then.

Before Orisa the only “barrier-bot” in the game were low rank Rein players. The original five tanks including CHAD Rein players were simply brawling it out instead of standing behind a protective screen spamming their primary fire like Orisa and Sigma players did.

You’re not supposed to barrier bot, just use one well if ya wanted to win specially, bk then, Orisa and Sigma are supposed to fire with their shields up btw, thats kinda what they do.

But thats besides the point, point is some lvl of team sustain is important imo for tanks, be it even from threat like a Hook and high dmg, displacement like Ball/Doom, Barriers/Mitigation like Wins/Sig/Rein/D.va/Queen and not just self sustain without enough threat, imo Orisa needs more threat and less self sustain.

(±) Now both share an 7s cooldown with 2 charges (or spears)
Energy Javelin (Throw)
(–) Deals 20 less impact damage (60 → 40)
(–) Now has 20-40m damage falloff
(+) Can now headshot, for 2x damage and impact stun time (0,2 → 0,4) .
Terra Surge
(+) Now restores 1 Spear charge on use.

(I’d maybe reduce Fortify’d dmg reduction to 30% as well, if she looked too strong)

Hog 1.0 players played like the biggest **ssies of all the tanks in year one until hog got his walking breather buff. But you get my point.

Getting hooked to Illios well from Gibraltar second sure was fun.
