I am currently a high plat/low diamond support player who uses baptiste only and I would like to reach masters. I have good aim and positioning and good game sense but I struggle to rank up. Do I need to do more healing or should I damage more or what is the problem. My teams do seem to s*ck especially my dps but from what I hear the ranking system is more solo performance dependent so I’m confused why I’m not ranking up
That is why you’re not ranking up.
You’re hyperfocused on your team’s performance when you can’t actually do anything about what they do, just yourself. The mentality you need to adapt to is one that which you onny think about yourself and what you could do better.

I understand that but am I not doing enough damage or is it healing or k/d?
It could be k/d, I’d say aim for less than 6 deaths per 10 and you should be doing good. Damage is less important than finishing kills obv.
You probably know this already, but to put more damage out it’s shoot, shoot, heal, for the most healing it’s shoot, heal, shoot, heal.
I would focus on that stuff first, from there I would look at positioning and if you’re using your boots at good times. Knockbacks do reset the boots chatge too btw in case you don’t know.
Don’t peek snipers, and don’t use lamp to peek snipers, it’s not worth it.
That’s about all I know abt bap, I know how to play the game, but that doesn’t mean I can lmao (average gm Lucio otp).
Def look into Karq for mor bap stuff.

Your stats in a game don’t mean anything and aren’t a factor in ranking up. You just need to win more. there is no formula you can follow you just need to over all keep improving in every possible way you can figure out. If you healed more would you win more? Sure. If you died less would you win more? Sure. If your aim was better would you win more? sure. If you used immortality field more effectively would you win more? Sure.
If i was you i’d pick one or 2 top 500 support streamers and watch them and get good at another healer as well as bap. Right now the healers with the best win rates this season are brig and xen. I personally play ana and I flex to mercy, lucio, or brig.
I’d also find a custom game code where you can practice your aim and one where you can practice imortality saves. Look up KarQ for helpful tips/tricks and look up PMAJellies for a couple of custom games you can warm up in before comp.

I would recommend not using Bap in certain situations. Swapping is a very strong thing, and as you rank up it becomes less and less advantageous to one trick. I learned this the hard way with Tracer.
I do but I usually use bap by default altough if we need anna, mercy or kiri ill use her and i understand their kits

Alright, that’s good. For ranking up, I’d focus on solo killing when you can, but primarily finishing off kills. As Bap or Ana, you’re a ranged hitscan. You can EASILY finish off targets with that high damage output. Heal people enough so they don’t die, but be sure to not healbot. You want to be doing a healthy amount of damage and healing. I’m an Ana main, and when playing her I will usually solo kill one person every fight and finish off another. Ana three shots people, so you can kill quickly while still healing quite a bit. Bap is really similar, and you should be able to do this with him too.

Well thanks y’all I finally made it to masters after 666 wins and tons of horrible teammates lol. Time to rank the dps to masters and learn tank, wish me luck haha.

From a grandmaster support, dmg and decision making is how you climb on support.
How you use your cooldowns, who to prioritize healing or damaging and where you put yourself is all you need.
Bap is a very high dps character, you should be constantly shooting somebody.
Dps first, healing second.

The matchmaking is broken. Go ahead, watch VODS, hire a coach, get better aim with aim trainers, the matchmaker will immediately offset your skill by giving you awful teammates in order to make the teams fair. The only people who think the matchmaker works properly (if anyone exists) are shills, cheaters, and people who group with people to rank up.
omg finallly someone who isnt one of those “its ur fault, not ur teams” people lmao. thx for understanding. lately i have finally made it to GM with anna, bap and kiri by grouping with ppl. Solo q is a literal disaster, definatley do no reccomend unless ur a tank/sniper god
