I just hit 4.3k as a 14 year old

There were only two things that caused me to jump ~600 sr in two seasons.

  1. I spent more time playing Overwatch.
  2. I stopped tilting at competitive games.
Those are the two biggest things that everyone needs to do in order to increase their rank. Nothing else. If you’re in a lower rank, it’s probably due to your mentality or the amount of time you spend playing this game. If you feel like you’re losing exclusively due to your teammates, you’re wrong. I started playing in season 3 and placed gold, and gradually, my rating increased with amount of time I put into the game.

If you enjoy it - keep it up! You could have a future in gaming at 18 if they have any sucess keeping it alive.
I used to complain, but my main issue ranking up used to be that I simply didn’t play enough. That’s all it takes just like anything else in life - effort with a little bit of enthusiasm. Congrats dude!!

Good for you! Though I might suggest that you go out and enjoy your youth while you still can. Age has a habit of creeping up on you before you notice.

Also not worrying about rank at all, that’s a fine way to be and a reason rank doesn’t go up.

Even though I couldn’t care less about rank one bit, I see you do and if you are happy about your accomplishment, congrats.

Why is 14 included? There are several players that are 14 years old, even younger that are over 4.2k. Not sure if you are trying to prove to anyone about younger players not able to be high ranked

TBH there is only low amount of kids in such high ranks. I would consider it an achievement.

I mean there are gay and female players in top 500 too, so not the biggest achievement. Maybe a minority, but it isn’t like he is the only one.

WTF does gay or female have to do with age? Also I didnt say only one. Are you high or stupid?

Gay and female are minorities in top 500. Also you don’t need to call me that

Sigh. Your a dumb one.

14 year olds are a minority in the top 500. That’s the point I am making. Keep insulting me, but you’ll get the point.

My point wasnt minority. My point was that its an achievement for a kid. For anyone tbh, but especially for a kid. But bring gays and females to strengthen your argument lol. How about trans people? Blacks? What minorities we keep out of the “minorities” in t500?

Congratulations on achieving that.
(Although, as a parent, i think that would be more glad if my 14 year old daughter hits a 4.0 GPA in school).

There has already been another 14 year who is 4000+ SR, my dude, LeaF

I’m gonna be that Paesan and say it. Why does your age matter?

Who knows, in 4 years there may be competitive collegiate gaming scholarships. I mean, if they have them for fishing, I don’t see why with your generation up and coming this couldn’t potentially at some point be a thing.

I’m 30 and have gamed for longer than you’ve been alive, ha. Mention a gaming scholarship when I was younger and you would have been laughed at…times have changed!

Good for you, keep it up, and if gaming is your passion, do it. If OWL still exists, maybe we’ll see you there some day!

Kudos,

I think it’s to their advantage. I’m 30 years old, work a full time job, and have limited time to play OW. The more you can play, the better you get. You can do phenomenally at anything in life if you just practice. Being 14, he/she likely doesn’t have a job, and after school and homework, probably has all the time in the world to get better.

Those of us who have full time jobs and aren’t full time players don’t have this ability to practice like others…

Still, Kudos! Keep it up.

I guess. Most of us really don’t have time. I won’t get into specifics, but I’m lucky enough to even come home some nights after work and rest.

Quite the wide vocabulary there

Simply playing more doesn’t necessarily help with climbing the ladder. There are a lot of people still stuck in low ranks after several seasons with 1k+ hours played.

There is no physical limitations as to why a 14 year old cannot be good at video games. The only reason why I think it’s not as common is because you have to put the time in to get good. A 14 year old has just as much time as an 18 year old on a per day basis. But the 18 year old has had those extra 4 years of practice that the 14 year old hasn’t had yet. As you get older with a job and/or kids, the time you have to practice decreases substantially and it becomes that much harder to get good.
