I have 2000 hours on this game, an hour on Mercy

My title is just to give perspective. I am not a mercy main at all. I do not play her at all. That’s just to knock down the “You are a mercy 1 trick whiner” to the ground. Hopefully, this also gives insight on the fact that I am not biased.

I don’t get all the hate towards Mercy mains lately. Mercy, is actually garbage.
On console, she’s ok, because console is a different world - but, on PC especially, she is extremely bad.

She’s needs some attention - and fast.

Her Problems?

For one, people have evolved into labeling supports into two categories : Main support and off support. Mercy is neither. She is not a main healer and the only utility she provides is damage boost.

Her ultimate, is the most underwhelming ultimate in the entire game.
When you hear the voice line - “Fire in the hole” , “¡Apagando las luces”, “Hammer down”, and others, you get a rush inside of you to try to respond as quickly as possible to the threatening ultimate. When Mercy Valks, be honest with yourself, do you get that same defensive rush?

Are you scared when the opposing Mercy Valks? Does your team say , “Uh oh, they Valked, we must reposition and figure out what to do?” She is garbage guys.

I’d rather have a good Ana on my team than a Legendary Mercy on my team. That’s not because the mercy player is bad, it’s because they are limited by the amount of value they can provide for the team. A good Ana is better than a legendary Mercy - The sleep dart is one of the best abilities in the game, especially against certain ultimates like Dead Eye and Blossom…NanoBoost is a game changer {Unlike Valk}, her healing output during a fight is superb to mercy, and her grenade is just far too good. The only thing Mercy has on all of the other supports is mobility…that’s it.

You just gave the most massive amount of buffs in regards to damage in this game…I suggest you at least up Mercy’s healing output to 60 to account for it. With this new patch, her healing output of 50 heals per second, will be even MORE USELESS. People may start to get triggered after the next patch go live when Mercy gets selected at the character select screen in spawn.

Someone, anyone, please, what is your argument in regards to how Mercy is balanced. She is so underwhelming.

{And resurrect is not a game changer anymore for a wide variety of reasons}

All that from one hour?

2000 hours of watching Mercy in my game.

You don’t need more time on Bastion, to know that he is bad.

You didn’t need hours upon hours on old Torb, to know that he is trash…

It’s an observation.

I feel the value of other supports on my team more than I do Mercy…and its not close.

Maybe because… Mercy isn’t bad.

Preach it. This is why I’ve stopped playing Mercy for the most part.

Sorry if my previous comment came out a bit off putting, I meant it in jokingly fashion. I just realized it may have sounded a bit dick-ish of me.

Good argument. I loved your engaging and persuasive well thought out answer here.

Mercy is pretty much still meta on console. She’s picked a lot in GM on PS4. I don’t know what tier you are. I play at 3900-4100s on PS4 and Mercy ain’t trash. She’s still good for 4 damage 1 off tank and 1 main healer too. In fact, she’s the only one who can really do that composition and the enemy team still lose this. Yet, you think she’s trash?

I barely play mercy ether and here’s my view, they need to buff her healing back to 60hp, beyond that i think she’s pretty decent at the moment.

I highlighted early on in my argument, that she is ok on console. PC…?? Garbage.

This is all that is needed to stop a majority of Mercy complaints. They didn’t become this dire until the infamous support patch.

People just refused to use her on PC to be honest because Ana can heal more on there. Ana on console requires much more skill due to harder aiming.

Can’t wait to see all the comments on this saying “you only have one hour, how can you know?” Apparently people who play her are biased, and people who don’t play her are biased.

Ana on console is bad…Console has way too many issues that will never get addressed.

People refuse to use her on PC because there is almost ALWAYS a better option…and that is the point.

So much scolding hot TEA sis.

(I literately just wanted to say “TEA” but you know, stupid word limit) LOL

I don’t think she’s garbage on PC, either.

I absolutely find her to be a main healer. If you have to frequently switch targets, she’s a good go-to. And she infinitely heals - she doesn’t have to rely on ammo, and she can heal through shields/barriers. That is endlessly valuable when no other healer except for Brigitte can heal through those.

I find that people who think Valkyrie is underwhelming do not understand the impact of chain-healing. If your team is scattered, then yes, her ultimate is not optimal and provides little impact. But if your team stays together and reap the benefits of chain damage boost or chain healing, it’s a REALLY nice sustain tool for a longer duration than other support ultimates; and the luxury of switching between damage boost and healing instantly is really useful.

To answer your question:

No, but she becomes my priority to take out. That either makes it so I focus her and not on the team fight, or I can’t actually take her out and she’s sustaining her team, while ours may be dying.

I also don’t think that her healing needs to be buffed. I understand that damage got buffed, but that’s because stacking healing, especially with another great healer coming out, has the potential to bring the problem of healing-overload.

I think she’s fine. And I say this as someone with 100+ hours on her. I think she’s great; she has mobility that no other support has, she has an ultimate that grants her vertical mobility as well, she has options to sustain with healing or help reinforce a push with damage boost, her resurrect (although you don’t agree) is really valuable and can be a game changer, and I find that her healing’s absolutely consistency is invaluable.

I find she has much more frequent moments of impact. The thing is, they’re subtler than they used to be. It’s not as blatantly obvious as it was with mass resurrect; your impact lies in the little decisions you make more frequently than before. And I find that she is impactful enough for me to want to play her, to want her on my team, and to find that she is a focus for me to take out on the enemy team because of what she provides them.

Also, if you acknowledge that she is ok on console, and you are playing on console, I’m not sure I understand why you feel she needs buffs?

Ana is trash on console, so Mercy’s only real competition for main healer is Moira, and Moira isn’t in a good spot herself.

Why do you think they get hate? People don’t like their teammates playing garbage teir heroes.

I don’t get the stigma from the community for wanting to keep certain characters in the garbage can…

The idea is, to have characters to have as close to equal amount of value as other characters. They designed the game in a way in which they wanted certain characters to be better than others in certain situations…They didn’t want scenarios where certain characters were just better than other characters overall…and that is the point.

Ana > Mercy…
Baptiste > Mercy…
Moira > Mercy…

Etc…The situations in which you would rather have a Mercy over an good Ana or good Moira have dwindled down to the ground.

Deathball? Give me Ana or Moira
Goats? Lucio, Zen, Moira
Pirateship? Give me Ana or Moira
etc…

It’s not that Mercy is better in certain situations…it’s gotten to the point to where…SHE ISN’T better, in almost ANY situation. You’d rather have a different main healer. This is assuming your Moira or Ana isn’t EXTREMELY bad.
