I feel this is why I’m not touching support heroes, especially Moira, anymore. The fear that DPS criers will win again and reduce yet another support hero to being plain boring along with little potential impact from their ultimate. It’s definitely a bad time for support mains right now.
Lol that’s not why Mercy was nerfed. Mercy had the highest pick rate of any character in the game, with the strongest ability in the whole game. She needed a nerf, don’t blame DPS because your OP hero got rained in.
Mercy was actually preventing Moira from creating a tank meta.
She was OP, there is no doubt about that, and it’s awful when your picks are undone.
But actually support players suffered the Mercy the most, since they couldn’t play their own character, while any dps is okay with Mercy.
History repeats itself. Ana was great in Triple Tank. Nerfed too harshly. Mercy was great (a bit too much) with Valkyrie rework. Nerfed harshly. Moira is great. People are complaining again like they did with Ana and Mercy. The question is, “Will Blizzard overnerf?” I dunno. Most likely.
Nerfing Moira won’t destroy her or make her unfun. I don’t main Support, but it takes very little effort to reach ridiculous amounts of healing on her. That’s not a problem in itself, but you can also deal a lot of poke damage and easily secure kills. I think that just makes her a little too good.
And also the only ability in the game that can rarely ever be used effectively against a remotely competent team unless the fight has already been won.
So much fun to take an aggressive healer and force them to play so passively. So much fun. So much.
It’s because Zenyatta is actively engaged while throwing discord and harmony and calling out discorded targets. But on top of that, he deals damage of his own with the potential to fend off attackers by himself. He also can save his team from massive amounts of damage with Transcendence. Zen can make huge plays.
Mercy is passively engaged and she literally watches the team with no room for her to stand up, take the spotlight, and say “this is my time!” She needs a teammate to attach to for Guardian Angel and she needs a teammate to damage boost and heal. The one ability where she can be actively engaged (resurrection) has been gutted to where it doesn’t feel good for the player. Her ultimate (Valkyrie) is still what she does normally so there is little highs for the player.
What is the difference between this Mercy and the Mercy of old? Resurrect as an Ultimate provided a hero moment for Mercy like how a diving Dragonblade does for Genji or a great Graviton does for Zarya but most importantly, it provided a peak to the gameplay, and a great reward like ultimates should. If the problem was it was too easy to attain, then the devs should have made small adjustments to it before diving into the Valkyrie rework.
Almost like people find it really difficult without playing with a main healer on ladder and the only main healer who can do her job well + is not super boring is Moira currently. So Moira is picked and everyone whines, despite that Pro’s show where Moira’s kit is lacking and where she is strong and Zen+lucio is still the most common duo due to their massive utilities.
People would play less Moira if everyone in ladder did not make it a neccessity to have a healer spam them full of heals so they don’t fall over and die because they stand still when mccree is shooting them full of bullets.
Unfortunately, supports are not allowed to be fun or good and the only reason zen has not been nerfed yet is because the crowd deems him skillful if he defends against his opponents, as he is extremely easy to take down solo. Anything deemed not skillful, aka supports like Moira, cannot be good or viable. Even if said character fills the hole Ana and Mercy left behind in the role of keeping your team alive.
How dare a support is able to defend themselves.
Isn’t this the reason why Ana’s damage got toned down?
But no mercy player wanted this rework that made her broken.
Before mercy was D-Tier and people still where happy playing her.
And that’s cool, but there’s a point where enough is enough
That’s fine, I never said that wasn’t the case. My point was that it wasn’t the DPS players that made that happen. Every Mercy main likes to point fingers at DPS and blame them for what happened to Mercy when that wasn’t the case at all. I have no issues with pre re-work Mercy.
Regardless of where ever people like to point fingers, Mercy was OP and needed to be rained in, end of story.
I’ve been saying this for awhile now as well. A lot of people were like “no way, Moira is a great character” but the reality is I, I garbage player, get 5 gold medals with her often. She is a great character with the ability to heal and damage and she does a good job with both, but this game hates healers who are powerful so a nerf is bound to happen.
I mean just look at Ana, Mercy and even Lucio (to a lesser extent). There’s a history here.
As a secondary Mercy player I just roll with the punches given by the Overwatch Team. I refuse to switch to Moira because I enjoy playing Mercy, I get ridiculed often for not switching to Moira.
Yes 30 hp/s is completely going to heal your team.
Have you thought this through?
The Moira nerf/bug fix has been in the pipe for awhile now, her healing is supposed to stop going thru’ shields, but honestly Moira and her RMB and her ultimate do need to be nerfed because compared to the other supports like Zenyata, Lucio and to a lesser extent Ana she practically doesn’t have to do anything in order to DPS and quad tank has basically broken Coalesence’s ult generation.
She doesn’t need “massive” nerfs, but tightening up her reticle so that she has to put in more mechanical skill to track and increasing the ultimate charge cost on Coalesnce seems pretty obvious right now as she’s basically the Junkrat of supports.
Yup and I’ve already hit that point. I am checking back in to see when the team actually begins caring about supports again. I don’t care about this game until it cares about me.
Two way street.
I’ve alteady started learning DPS heroes since the Mercy nerfs. Blizzard doesn’t like support heroes? Well I’m going to play a class that doesn’t get nerfed into oblivion and plays like an AI character. Hi Tracer.
It’s sad to say but because of the direction that the game is clearly starting to take I personally am starting to be led to believe that if I ever want to come back I need to play only DPS heroes.
So I’m with you on this!
Healing is OP so they have to move their power budget around.
I think giving counterplay to heals themselves would be neat. There are tons of ways to prevent damage for example.
So healers would not need to be preys as a trade off, just killing them is one of the few ways of countering their healing.
