I guess this is the end

I’ve been playing Overwatch since 2017 and banned alongside others on April 11th. The reasoning provided was listed, “Recent activity on this account has shown various and continued actions deemed inappropriate for Overwatch. These actions violate our Code of Conduct and create an unacceptable detriment to our players”
This is once again a mirror of other players that were banned on the same day. I’ve spent nearly $1000 on this game since I got it. I’ve never used a smurf account, I’ve not been toxic in a couple years, I’ve never cheated in any way, and after being banned I legitimately read the entire code of conduct looking for one legitimate reason that they could have banned me. In addition I’ve never received a warning or suspension prior to this. I’ve appealed twice, only asking for answers, and I have received none. I never saw myself not playing this game, but after recent events I have lost the account that has all of memories of the game tied to it, and dealt with support that never directly responded to my message. I’m done trying, I’m done playing, and I’m not making another account. I spent so much time, money, and energy on this game, and I cared about it immensely. That said, there is no way, even if my ban is appealed, that I ever spend another dime on a blizzard product.
Goodbye all, and good luck

Happened the same to me, but i guess we already know that many others are involved in this matter. I don’t even understand how they can neglect their job like this. I work for a studio myself as an animator and yes, i know that there are times when you can’t solve every problem at once. BUT. If i were to do the same thing, in my work place, giving generic answers to problems haha i would be fired in an instant. I still hope they acknowledge their mistake and do something about it.

Same thing here. Never suspended or temp banned or anything from any blizz game. 11th April first time ever. Very frustrating to communicate with support :frowning:

same here! Got banned for the first time ever on April 11th.

same generic ban email too. it’s rough out here.

Seems like either you get permabanned or a bunch of comp bans since Season 4 patch was released.

Hey, i got banned, too, for no reason on the 11th April, as I already stated in a number of closed and deleted topics on this:
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/overwatch/t/permanent-ban-without-reasons/806557
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/overwatch/t/account-with-over-3000-hours-got-perma-banned/805200

I really want to know how many people this is affecting. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything outside this forum, where people can discuss without being cut off.

Probably, if you were banned on the 11th like me, it’s because of “Third party software”.
I’m kinda interested to narrow down the root of it all but don’t know how. Support couldn’t help me.

The only thing I can think of is the iCUE software for keyboard and mouse, but I use that since 2021 (playing OW since 2016) and it wasn’t a problem since. The only new thing are my headphones but the company is the same (steelseries).

We must have something in common on our computers that the anti cheat software detected as a thread.

Second this.
My 2017 account got banned for suspicious activity out of the blue, no warning given whatsoever.
Appeals have been time-wasting with generic copy-paste replies.
I don’t understand how easy they hand out permabans to accounts who are so old, someone who’s been playing for many years isn’t gonna suddenly decide to cheat or something, at very least before issuing a ban it should have a real human review.

The fact that they are closing threads like these just shows that they know something is wrong on their end but are not ready to face it yet (or have no clue how to fix it).
Hope someone who’s not a bot is gonna look into this issue.

Forgot to add that nothing on my PC changed since Overwatch 1, been playing on the same hardware/mouse/keyboard and I haven’t installed any new software besides graphic card drivers or other games.

even graphics cards become outdated and need to be upgraded a gddr5 runs much slower than a gddr6 now and gddr5 is what ow1 was based on bc it ran perfectly on a amd gddr5 rx580 red devil 8g but even better on a rx6800 16gb gddr6 which i recently upgraded to and went into the video settings and selected fps to custom and put the min to 300 and max at 600 fps and that made the video run whatever it can handle nvidia cards get set to maximum

and remember do NOT overclock your system without liquid cooling

Not banned personally, but I barely play a few games a week any more, if i don’t forget to play at all. That said I have had a temp ban before and yeah the reasons are vague.

You get a standard violation of ToS or Code of conduct type of deal, no details. No idea what you did, when you did it. Which makes any kind of prevention of doing it again hopeless.

There is no appeal process, they just say “Ruling stands” and won’t look into it. Not unless your a famous streamer.

Even when in the past they had massive ammounts of people banned for “third party software” when it turned out to be OBS. That time they over turned it for most people, but imo only because the people banned were the streamers they liked so much.

Not if you actually buy MTX and they been playing since 2017. Still about 166 a year, which is more than I’d pay for a game with as few updates as this… but what ever.

i dont know if a human even reviews anything these days its possible someone reported ya for something small and whenever the ai was doing anything it had a malfunction instead of ignoring a false report or looking over account history for actions placed against your account it could of banned u for no reason heck ive heard of players being targeted for playing certain heroes

You could in theory have humans over look bans, at least perma bans. Still have the Bots scroll through reports and bring it to human attention at some threshold of reports.

The real problem is the data. There is no way Blizzard wants to keep track of the chat of every game, every voice chat etc. They say they record voice now for legal reasons, but I would be very surprised if it is kept for long and obviously no one would want to look at it afterwards.

But again I say the system fails to work. The point of punishments is to correct bad behavior. The problem is Blizzard like many companies just give you vague statements about violating their rules. No idea how you did so, when you did so etc. Bans can happen weeks after the incident in question if my own reports are any indication.

Which means even if you are temp banned for doing something, you have no idea what you did to possibly correct it. It’s like the old trope of a parent saying “you know what you did”, when you really have no clue.

i use iCUE as well for all my peripherals, and have never had an issue, so that seems strange that that would be the cause of your ban. did you have anything else running in the background?
