I really don’t get why the both sides of the whole role queue argument feel so compelled to create these threads on a daily basis. Each of them like they have uncovered some amazing unknown discovery
This may shock, but no one is forcing anyone to play open or rq and folks enjoy different game modes to suit their taste
Choice is fantastic and the only real logical argument against a variety of game modes is fragmentation of the player base making longer queues.
Do people not remember WHY we got 2-2-2 to begin with? This community simply cant handle the freedom to pick whatever they want, we’ve already learned that the hard way, yah open queue is nice when it actually works but when you get 4 DPS players 9 times out of 10 it just isn’t worth it, people never wanna play Tank or Healer so now we have 2-2-2 and its almost objectively better then open queue ever was. Learn to cope with it or get off the game, its that simple.
I think a good takeaway from today’s dev video is that “your mileage may vary”. It’s the second most played mode in S. Korea, clearly there’s something good about it for them.
i love the direction they are going personally, will suck since its gonna be gone for a while but hey we got quickplay classic to tide me over till then. although i understand just because i like it doesnt make it the most popular mode so if the devs see no one playing it… it will go away probably
NOW if it turns out open queue is more favorable (i highly doubt it) its gonna stay forever heh
Not when it’s going to (a) divide the community even further and (b) make balance across millions of composition combinations between two entirely separate core competitive modes 10x harder for the dev team.
I’ve gotta say the most bizarre point you make is about there being no creativity. Organised open queue is the best thing in overwatch. Comp Variety is so crucial to this game but 2/2/2 just threw that away. Triple tank, Triple dps, GOATS, Triple Support, Quad dps, Ball solo tank comps, all got thrown in the bin.
You can bash it all you want idc, but if you call open comp lacking in creativity you are blind my dude.
Have you watched the dev update ? Turns out it actually helps queue times. There is no reason for you to get worked up over open comp anymore. Have a nice evening
Constantly seeing the same hero choices through Goats and a repetitive multi-DPS comp is not creative.
And even if it was “creative”, that doesn’t make games fun. If you’re losing miserably or unfairly steamrolling everyone, who honestly cares about how “creative” the team comp is.

Uhm. Ok. Then what is your problem again ? Balance ? How would that affect balance ? It’s the exact same hero pool. Just like with any other game mode. You just love to hate stuff huh ?
yup blind, well I tried. In comparison though, what is creative about 2/2/2? I mean you force the same comps over and over, I mean really atm there is only two viable comps of double shield and deathball. Its not like you couldn’t just run a 2/2/2 comp in open comp? Or am I going crazy?
Because now whenever they want to do a balance change for one particular aspect in one mode, they need to take into account how that would play out in the context of another.
For example, if they give back the goats changes to help tackle the the issue of goats for OQ, then the double shield comp for RQ (ie, one of the worst and non-interactive comps this game had to offer) will make an upsetting comeback.
