How to play on tank?

Why im in hidden pool? I play Tank and how i can see nobody wont play tank! And Blizzard wont to stop all play tank!
But I can’t do anything, because Reaper May Sombra plays against me in every match. There is never a reaper, a mei, or a sombra on my team. The enemy dcs just attack me and that’s it.
Please tell me how to play on a tank when you don’t have dps and when the enemy dps take these characters against you, they all attack you on the sombe, all the time the ripper hits you in the boshu from behind when you are fighting with the enemy tank. I always have soldiers on my team who can’t hit anyone. It seems like a Blizzard employee sits and selects the most terrible das for my team.
The enemy always has Anna and Kiriko, and my team always has useless Lucio and Ilari.
Here’s how to play a tank, how?
So no one plays on the tank, I will also leave this role because of the incredibly dishonest teammates in every match!

“I’m the only constant in all of my games, but everyone else is the problem!!!”

Mei isn’t that good vs Winston, and Reaper is weak against armor hp. Winston would be a decent pick, assuming you’re willing to learn how and when to play him.

Mauga is also a decent pick, though you have to understand how to deal with icewall: turn around, shoot it until you break one portion of it, and then charge through to escape to your supports. That way you won’t get trapped by Mei as much.

Sombra isn’t that strong against tanks unless you’re playing Ball a lot.

My advice would be to assume that you always you have a Lucio that’s speedrunning a double digit death count and don’t count on him. The real problem for people who don’t like having a Lucio around is that actually, he’s bleedin’ invaluable. There’s no real substitute for speed. He’s not a healbot though, and you’ll have to play more carefully than you might be accustomed to if you often play with healbots.

Illari’s far from useless. She might not be at the top of the pecking order but that doesn’t mean she’s bad. You need to be aware that her secondary’s on a resource, though. She can’t heal you forever. You’ll need to use cover. Help Illari to help you.

Man! I have 100 percent lost with lucio in team! I dont knew how to play with zero heal on tak! Why should I adapt to him, I adapt to the enemy tank! Why enemy team never has lusio???

You need to do both. As a tank player, and as the only tank on your team, you HAVE to adapt to EVERYTHING, not just the enemy tank since it’s not the only thing that can counter you. Look what the enemy is throwing at you, and look what your team has chosen to support you with.

So you know they’ll have things like sleep and other CC that is likely going to be aimed at you specifically. Knowing that, picking a tank that doesn’t have some sort of shield or absorb is going to be a nightmare, so pick accordingly

With supports like these, we need to start looking at ‘how much healing can they provide me’ because this will help indicate HOW you can play your tank. If you know your not gonna have a ton of support, you’ll have to reign in your aggression and probably try to play more defensively. Use corners and the environment to your advantage and understand when you need to backup.

Playing as tank means you have to be paying attention and be willing to adapt to EVERYTHING, not just what the enemy tank is. You have to look at your own team as well.

And before you start blaming supports for problems you’re possibly, keep this in mind: Your not the only one on the team who needs healing

If this is a situation you find yourself in, you play defensively. Hug corners, use the map to your advantage, pick up health packs. What you DON’T do is continue to play in a suicidal way and then turn and blame your supports for your bad plays.

The question isn’t just ‘how well does my team fit me’ but you also have to ask ‘how well do i fit the team’

because at the end of the day

Then learn…

Why get mad at something you’re not willing to improve at?

It is nearly impossible to do your job without some form of healing. I am sure he is exaggerating, but you do literally run into situations where you are not getting healed and I actually disagree with the other person. Playing a corner and letting them take space if you are actively be denied resource is actually a throw. You do not die, but you living contributes literally nothing. It’s better to go for a trade and hope the DPS can carry.

If you have a Lucio, 99% of the time your other Support is on someone with high healing output. It’s not no healing, it’s less healing. And even with NO healing, just play Hog or Ball (Or just extremely conservatively)

I had to do it just today with a Lucio and Illari. I tried my best to conserve shield and even got multiple picks for my death consistently without any healing and we still lost. Know why? Because we were never going to win with Helen Keller on support. It does not even matter what the line up is. I play Lucio and Illari all the time. The difference is my Sistah Spice is the Illari. So I do get enough healing to function.

It happens. Not much you can do. Honestly, I take it back, the other guy is not that far off the mark. Might as well just let your passive heal you and engage in the next teamfight because you are going to lose anyways. I just do not have the patience for that. I would much rather go down swinging.

If you’re gonna stay on the same hero and not adapt to your team, sure. But you also could’ve gone Ball or Hog and won.

You can’t blame the Supports for playing certain heroes when you yourself refuse to swap.

Oh hell yeah I could have. It was a razor thin down to the wire loss when I had to play against 4 counters. I could have gone Hog and Thanos snapped those losers out of existence. Absolutely.

It is not about their line up. It was that they refused to heal me. I do not think you understand. I am not talking about a struggle. I mean quite literally I was living off whatever Lucio gave me when he was not on speed. The Illari did not heal me a single drop. She was placing her pylon in the rooms around point and not pushing with me and the Lucio was predominately a Reddit Lucio.

I am talking about those scenarios. Not a “boo hoo, they picked Mercy, Lucio and it’s not enough.” I mean LITERALLY.

The solution for a win was to freaking heal me so that instead of killing 2 or 3 per fight, I can kill 4 or 5. It is absolutely their fault and they objectively suck.

Alright…well, those are also very few and far between.

While it sucks to lose games like that, it’s also not common or consistent for this to happen. So op is still wrong.

I definitely agree. It was a bizarre scenario. The last time this happened to me was when people were mad I was playing Mauga at release and boycotted my healing. Both supports literally told me they were not going to heal me and threw the game. They had the Winter Mercy and Kpop Kiriko skin, so my Sistah Spice and I joked that the other tank was their sugar daddy and bought them the skins to sell the game.

I cannot even remember the time before that; however, these are extremely rare.

Ummmmm this sounds like something I did with a friend once :skull:

Although we didn’t lose once doing this, so it clearly worked lol

Basically same tank experience here. You can have godly lucio and Ilari in your team that enables you to play very agressive and solo the enemy backline. or you get those solo adventure dps kiriko anna with zero heals.
Lucio is a good support if you are going to play more agressive and dive the enemy together all together with your team. Illari can heal crazy amount with her good pylon placement and added pressure with left click. Nothing to do with the type of heroes your team picks, they’re just bad players.

I would love to play the hog and can witout heal, but how can I play it when I don’t have a Kiriko, and my enemies always always always have Anna?
And how to play when Sombra is constantly breaking you from behind?

Corners

Remind me again, just so I know, how many corners are on an objective?

Take Kings Row as an example. As a tank, on the center of the objective, tell me where the corner is located so I can still contest the point.

Typically the point has four corners!

There should be two in front of you, one on the left and one on the right. The same goes for behind you.
