How to beat Sombra

A- Don’t play comp until they fix Sombra because her kit is absurd.

B- When the other team goes Sombra, the strategy is to focus on NOTHING but the Sombra. And I mean nothing. Don’t even bother trying to shoot at any other enemy, just kills that Sombra. In essence, you play “Kill the Sombra” instead of normal Overwatch. Then, if she dies, you focus on the other enemies as well.

Will this help your team win? YES. EVERY SINGLE MATCH. But more importantly, it makes the Sombra matches go by a lot faster and they end a lot faster. And then you can get back to actually playing Overwatch, hopefully, depending on the next match.

You will always win with this method, even if your team doesn’t, but I’m sure that’s super rare. I’m not sure, I just focus on that Sombra with Tracer and nothing else, at all, for my team… And I always tell my team ahead of time my plan, and so far, they’ve never said a single thing other than a positive response to it. Because they ALL agree that Sombra’s kit is SO SO SO STUPID, that you have to use a different strategy and this is the strategy everyone has been in favor of. And like I said, I’m sure it helps my team win every match, probably, I just haven’t paid that much attention to that part. Pretty sure I’m undefeated doing this, but forgot to write down my QP record.

burst dmg before she can react or cc as soon as she reveals herself , besides that completely ignore her and stick with your team or you re throwing , thats how you play vs sombra

Some heroes (Bap, Dva, Tracer etc) are very strong at spychecking for a Sombra and honestly, this version of Sombra has no chance of getting a pick if she is destealthed prematurely.

Nope, you’re throwing if you play that way… I would never throw… You will win if you just use the “Kill The Sombra” approach.

I highly, highly, highly recommend it to everyone who is sick of playing against Sombras and her ruining Overwatch bc the devs have such shockingly poor judgement to leave a permastealth hero in the game.

The teams I play with all have SO MUCH MORE FUN by playing this strategy. And of course, you’ll win every match… I think, I forget.

Every game is tracer Sombra. It’s so awful

JFC, how many different threads are you going to make on the exact same topic?!

You did the same thing with Symm and Mei. Learn to stop crying about something that’s directly in your power to control: not enjoying Overwatch so much at the moment? Stop playing.

Turrets and orbs bro, turrets and orbs…

Extremely unlikely. But sure, if you think you have a plan.

Personally, having you run around the map trying to go after me, while the rest of my team can use all of that lovely space you are giving up constantly. That sounds like victory for my team.

You do some zig zagging when you hear the sound and go meet up with your team. Easy enough.

Or option C. Play as a team, and peel for each other (Especially for Supports though there are some supports that are naturally good at peeling for themselves against a Sombra)

You treat Sombra like any other flanker, and if you get spawn camped, then either swap heroes or ask your teammate to help peel for you if you are constantly dying to a Sombra back in spawn.

People do not realize how much difficult it is on the Sombra when you play as a team, kid you not, but you reduce her effectiveness by literal half, and Sombra has to either swap or use all her resources and tools just to be effective against that one target.

The OP made a post about how they just throw the game, and ruin it for their teammates because of a Sombra. You honestly can’t take what they say seriously.

Play Dva, Moira, Tracer. Sombra is done for.

No, but that’s what this post is about… A new approach… How to enjoy Overwatch against Sombra. Since she deletes the fun from playing the whole “game” of Overwatch, the objective, etc., you just turn it into a new game. Kill The Sombra #KTS

You can count on it!

and

True, Icarus, I might be wrong. And true, Scorpinok300, I mistakenly used the word “throw” incorrectly. That word is used for quite a few different scenarios… My goal is never to make my team lose. I simply change my goal from the whole win/lose the objective → Kill The Sombra.

So in this post, I’m just rewording it… In this post, I’m saying to play “Kill The Sombra” to help your team and make the match more enjoyable for you and your team, and to use the match as an opportunity to practice killing the Sombra.

Since Sombra makes the whole “objective” part of the game so silly to actually try to play, you simply take on a new role where you don’t worry about the objective or the other enemy players… you just “Kill The Sombra” until the match is over… Will you win? That’s not important, the goal is to get better and practice and enjoy the game, and help your team by killing the Sombra. It might or might not help them “win” the objective part of Overwatch, but that’s ok, it helps them…

You simply trade yourself… You are on 100% full-time Sombra duty. You embrace the absurdity of a perma-stealth hero by fully and utterly dedicating yourself to it for every single nanosecond of the match.

This is a different post silly goose.

Agreed… That never, ever, ever happens (in my matches), but agreed. And I do my part, I play Tracer.

Yeah, I hear you. I can’t bring myself to use turrets… I don’t blame anyone that does and I’m not knocking them… It’s just something I won’t do.

True. The part about winning every single match was just sarcasm… The goal is to help your team not have to deal with the Sombra, as opposed to the objective part of the game… The whole objective part of the game is just silly with invisible heroes running around anyway, so instead, I just embrace the absurdity and fully dedicate myself to it in every way for every nanosecond of the match.

Have you ever played OW in a metal rank match? I’m not asking sarcastically, I’m genuinely asking because I know a lot of players are really good and just are able to sort of skip over the whole metal rank SSR and MMR part of the game… Also, a lot of players never solo queue… Have you ever solo queued in a metal rank MMR match?

I mean, you obviously can’t control your team… you can only control yourself… but in lower rank MMR matches, there is no “playing as a team”… like at all… ever. It will never happen and has never happened unless smurfs were playing… You MIGHT get your team to “group” like 80% of the match at best, but that’s super rare. But that’s still not actually playing as a team, peeling, ult combo planning, synergizing, communicating… That isn’t an option at all and there isn’t anything an individual player can do about it…

So that’s why I’m suggesting a different method…

Yes, Master player here, I have played metal rank, in which I know that playing as a team in this team-based game and peeling for each other does reduce Sombra’s effectiveness.

In terms of you asking about solo queue, just like you claim, a lot of players do, while others do not. If the team that had more teamwork can be via grouping up in the queue or sometimes solo queue, will win that particular match “mostly”

I have played ranked solo queue and duo+ queue, and I prefer duo+ queue mostly since they know how I play, and I know how they play etc. enhance teamwork and teamplay/ coordination.

So this is not a flaw in the character, but a flaw in YOUR TEAM, not a Sombra issue, because like someone said, the person who is dominating" as Sombra, will dominate with per se other heroes like Ashe, Tracer, Genji, Echo, Solider 76, Sorjourn, etc.

I do agree that in lower rank, playing as a team does not always happen, sometimes here in upper rank, occasionally we get those who do not want to play as a team either, so my advice to you is to group up with others players and queue with them, or simply work on your individual performance, as in lower rank, you CAN CLIMB if your individual skill present itself, meaning focus on mechanical skills, positioning, game-sense etc. and I promise you, that you will climb. If you are struggling with certain heroes, play heroes that are more Independent, so Tracer, 76, Reaper, Mei, and Sojourn.

Again, how is this a Sombra-related issue?

You listed this as your different methods on ways to beat Sombra.

These are not the only methods, and I provided you with a valid method that allows you to still play your hero, you just need to play as a team and peel for each other.

If you or your teammate does not want to do per se PLAY AS A TEAM, then another option is to just play heroes that are more independent. If you do not want to do that as I know in practice, playing as a team is not always the case, then it is one of those situations that honestly your team deserves that loss, as I said, in any game mode, any game, the team that plays well as a team, typically wins, that goes for video games, sports, company, etc.

This might be a hot take, but I feel Tracer and Echo can do much more damage than a Sombra.

Compared to Sombra, Tracer is harder to pindown while Echo can flank you from anywhere, even the sky. Both also have much higher TTK than Sombra.

From what I have seen, the only game where this does not apply is Call of Duty. Which I sometimes feel is how some people are playing Overwatch.

it all about how you play before she shows up, not after.

the people who prepare for her after she shows up are already at a disadvantage and most likely rely on their team to bail them.
