How to beat Sombra

This is not even a hot take, this is an objective fact, Tracer and Echo can do so much more damage compared to Sombra in less “set up time”

Agreed. Even in CoD the team that plays well together typically outmatch via score and stats by a large margin. CoD the good ole days, but yes, you can really tell when you have a player on your team that plays this game as if it is CoD and just in general has not played a team-based team game.

basically teamwork is how you beat her and caring about your own teammates lol

the more i play other heroes the more i see how some of your games your teammates dont care about your well being. ive had supports pass me up since i guess im a low priority and they dont give a dam if die right next to them.

im like hmm ok maybe i dont feel so bad about playing sombra and winning against teams like that. the games i lose with sombra are the games that the enemy team supported each other and looked out for one another. the games i win are probably the same type of teams i usually get that just play deathmatch or just want to frag and dont care about what their own team is doing :man_shrugging:

so yea… teamwork

if you have a good queen she will come and beat her up, she wont let her bully you.

to beat her up ya you need team work.

but to just blow her annoying nogging off, you can do it yourself.

My problem with her is there isn’t much time before you die after she hits you with Virus. If you don’t have a fast enough reaction time you’re just dead, and my reaction time isn’t the best so I die almost 100% of the time from that combo. Maybe I hit her once but not enough to kill her.

I’d say you need to just stay with your team, that’s the only real way to beat her, and if you get hacked and virus’d, immediately use the “need healing” voiceline so you don’t die.
When I play Sombra, that’s the only real counter to her I’ve noticed. I can’t do much of anything if they’re grouped and heal the virus’d person.

its not even your reaction time being slow most heroes cant kill her fast without making some extreme precision play if they arent hitscan or hanzo and they have to rely on positioning and defensive abilities.

like even cassidy hitscan sure he can 2 tap hs her in 1 sec but that level of precision and needing first shot accuracy is too high, now obviously the right way would be to roll away and nade her then see how it goes.

Its just she is too much of a chore, sure they removed hack, but for most heroes she is wasting all their cds by just existing and too much value for what it is.

tracer has to work to earn the same value.

Indeed, without virus Sombra’s TTK is not that good. I actually started playing Echo more than Sombra because she is much better at bursting down heroes for me.

I still love Sombra though, both the character and hero.

I miss the good old days of BO2.

In modern CoD, the team with better rng wins sadly

How the mighty have fallen, I use to look forward to getting the newest COD game.

Echo is probably the best burst damage DPS without having a combo. The difference is that her escape is that pathetic excuse for flight whereas Sombra gets in for free thanks to invisibility, only needs to land one projectile, has I-frames on a 6 second cooldown that takes you the distance of Tracer’s triple blink.

the joke part is that blizzard tried to buff her on the midseason patch… they are soo bad.

You summed it up perfectly, Echo is objectively an overall better hero than Sombra but at the same time is a lot less safe to play.

It is very easy to crash and burn with Echo if you are not careful, you really need to go in with a plan. Sombra does not have Echo’s kill power but she can get out of most situations easily.

step 1: get spawn camped by Sombra
step 2: swap to Sombra to guarantee you escape from spawn
step 3: switch to a hero with self sustain (or stay sombra if you want)
step 4: t bag Sombra every time you kill her because actions have consequences

It’s hard to get peel from team mates in diamond. Do you honestly think gold and under has support players who are even aware there is a Sombra on their team mates? No. They have no idea what is happening around them.

in summary: change all your playstyle and hero just because the enemy pick sombra… NICE HERO DESING!

INSTA IMPACT!!

they are not diamond im sure they bought the account and are wood rank, honestly the way some of them play i want to grapple myself off the map.

Like does playing tank overtime reduce iq, like we are winning you are doing well on rein, we have huge advantage on push, but just cause you died once and we lost one fight to their ults you immediately swap to winston into orissa and soldier.

The two supports thats all leave the one dps with a positive kd alone we got to make the tank live. lets both pump 17k healing into a winston dueling the orissa, not the widow murdering enemy pharah and soldier oh let her fend for herself.

Like honestly these people are handpicked to torture you.

The strategy is this. Imagine you just got wrecked by her and it caused a cascade and resulted in a wipe. When you respawn, you don’t move your sorry buttocks so much as an inch out the door, you wait for everyone to spawn and you go in together. Also, you swap to Widow. You stick with your supports and wait for the telltale signs of something amiss. As soon as she appears, or slightly before actually if you are listening for her, you turn and shoot her, as should anyone near you. She dies, and you proceed to tbag, then destroy the rest of their team 5 v 4.

If that fails, or fails on the next engagement, you switch to Reaper and just lay waste. All you do then is stick close to convenient cover options near your supports or help push up with the tank or whatever, basically if you are shooting anything with Reaper close range and hitting every shot and getting several good crit shots in there and any other hero in the game is also attacking your target and hitting them, they’ll die before or as you fire your last shot and reload.

If the poop is too hot, figure that out before you’re sub- 40% hp, wraith to cover, hopefull heals come fast because I usually don’t even stop for more than a second. Then, reengage immediately and finish the job you started or go kill the Sombra that just got back, then tbag.

“Reaper is a counter”
“Someone else has to be helping you and hitting every shot. and you also have to hit her in the head”
Doesn’t sound like he’s a counter.

That’s the answer though. I prefer Reaper because I can relocate pretty fast to help people, and then just bust down the tank or go assassinate some supports after she’s dead, but I don’t struggle against her with anyone one on one. Kiriko, Ana, Bap, Zen, Ash, Widow, McCree, Hanzo, Sombra, etc. etc. I mean, there are pain points on certain maps that just don’t have great cover, or some teams play like a group of individuals. I mean, the real key is teamwork if you can’t 1 v 1, if two people hit half their shots it should be as good as one person hitting all of their shots and she should die. After the first time you know she’s in play, so every decision you make after that should be with the understanding that she’s coming. Do I get surprised sometimes by her? Yes, do good Sombra’s kill me sometimes? Yes. Most Sombra’s have a predictable pattern and way of moving, too, so after like the third time it’s just instant reaction, pop, pop and she either dies or runs off and is back two seconds later and repeat ad nauseum until they get bored and pick on someone else, which just makes them an easier target for me.

I haven’t tried Reaper vs Sombra but it seems like she’d counter him rather than the other way around.
Hack so he can’t Wraith, Virus, then open fire and hit pretty much every shot because he has a huge hitbox. She also has a much further effective range than him, so he would only tickle her.

Even if you don’t die and can Wraith after hack, she’d just follow you, hack any healthpack you were trying to get, and kill you.
