- cancel pve as promised
- “2” makes no more sense
- still have the gall to charge us for the table scraps
- you’ll have to buy every single mission “pack”
i have no words

I genuinely hope this game shuts down its servers at this point. This is not how you manage a game.
I’m curious why everyone is jumping to this conclusion
For 5$ on top of the normal battle pass you can get all the missions “permanently”. Key word is permanently
So I assume that means they will be free for some amount of time, no? That is how words work, after all?
If I had to guess I’d say they are free during the season they release, or maybe the first mission is free the first few weeks, then the second, etc.
Lots of jumping to conclusions right now though
Given that’s it’s 3 missions, that’s not a whole campaign. It’s titled “Invasion” which means there’s likely to be chapters titled other things so they can crank their price up
the fact they say “get access to this batch of missions” implies the next batches will not be included in the purchease.
also, seriously, so far every worst fear came true, how can you still give them any amount of benefit of doubt?
They should provide at least first few missions free built in already and permanent should not be paying for PATCH NOTEs updates to be honest. anyway.
I’m aware, but I’m saying we have no clue what the actual price of the missions on their own is + we have no clue if and for how long they are free for considering it says you’re paying to have them permanently
paying to have them permanently sounds even worse. think about it for a minute all that it implies
And the missions are like 30 minutes long in hard LOL
At this point, I don’t think it’s a incorrect conclusion that we would have to buy each story mode pack. That seems likely with the way they are setting this up. It seems they are going to treat the story modes like DLC, which is typically paid for. Like WoW expansions. Once you buy them, you have access to all the content.
I am quite baffled by the decision to make these story modes pay-to-play. They teased the PvE mode as a huge part of OW2, making it seem like this would be a different game than OW1. At this point, it’s pretty much the same game with a few new maps and heroes. Plus the cosmetics.
Personally, I do want the story modes. I am not sure I will buy them, though. I can’t support that.
Considering they haven’t added in the language that it’d be free limited time access anywhere, alongside the original advertisement that the PvE would be a separate thing that you’d have to pay for, things aren’t looking great on that front.

True but the article was from someone who tested it not Blizz themselves I kinda wonder why Blizz let them post it without clarifiying the entire business model of the PvE
Swimsuit Mercy skin is coming. Everyone is happy. Won’t sink yet.
A record-breaking drilling attempt, which dug more than a kilometer into an underwater mountain in the Atlantic Ocean, has given scientists a treasure trove of rocks to study for clues to Earth's inner workings.
Pfff… all they had to do was ask blizzard for some samples from the depths they’ve sunk to. Would have maybe even gotten some core.
I’m curious why everyone is jumping to this conclusion
I’m guessing because of how the information was given out when OW2 was being launched.
I fully understand why people assume the worst from Blizzard when it comes to stuff like this.
It is because Blizzard has trained them to assume the worst.
Also as it happens.
They were also right, for permanent access, you have to pay up.
I admire your optimism, but I think it’s a bit naive given their predatory practices so far. I hope you’re right, but I doubt it. Blizz lost their benefit of the doubt from most.
A Free to Play game needs people to pay money for content? Say it ain’t so!
Just to clue you in to the obvious. Game content costs money to develop. Unlike Overwatch 1, Overwatch 2 doesn’t have loot box gambling to bring in billions of dollars. So asking $15 for 3 story missions, 1000 Overwatch Coins (allowing you to buy the battle pass) and a legendary skin for Sojourn that by itself costs $20 is a damn good deal.
Basically if you were to buy just the 1000 coins and the skin, you’d be paying $30
So you’re paying half that price for both and permanent access to the story missions.
I mean, $5 for the missions i don’t mind paying since i was planning on buying the full PVE if it had come out. What worries me though is what happens if it does not sell a lot, can i play it solo or do i NEED a team to play it? Because if no one is Queueing for the missions i want to play later in the games life then what is the point of me having them permanently
They were also right, for permanent access, you have to pay up.
I know you do, that’s what I’m saying though, that’s for permanent access. We have no clue how much, if anything at all, it will cost for “not permanent” access, which makes me think that they’ll be free for the entire or large chunks of the season they release
A Free to Play game needs people to pay money for content? Say it ain’t so!
What happened to all the money they’ve been making from cosmetics, and battlepasses ? Naw? not cutting it? Not enough money to keep making content for their “live” model? Gotta charge ON TOP of that for the content they promised in the first place?
So you’re paying half that price for both and permanent access to the story missions.
So we’re SAVING money by buying things! REVOLUTIONARY!
It’s almost like they’re giving it away at that price… only not… because it’s a digital product and it costs them next to nothing to make another copy for you!
I guess you’re at least consistent with your head in the sand consumerism.
which makes me think that they’ll be free for the entire or large chunks of the season they release
there is no action or precedent to make us think this is going to happen. If it does… great… but right now everyone who’s been critical of the decisions that were being made has been correct when guessing the worst possible implementation… so we’re all gonna go with that.
They deserve no charitable goodwill or optimism. They just keep doing the worst possible thing over and over and yet… here you are.
EDIT: so… yeah… you wanna rethink your positions at all?
Here’s a bit of news that won’t go down well with the Overwatch 2 fanbase.
it’s the worst thing… again.
