It’s sad that it has come to these new role que compositions just to pander to dps main que times. DPS mains had their 3+ years of stacking, 2/2/2 is here, live with it. The game is much more organized now & doesn’t need to change IMO. The vast majority of the player base is silver-plat & que times aren’t that bad. Changing to other role comps will require more balancing that will create even more chaos.
They’ve literally admitted it’s a failure and they’re looking at alternatives.
2-2-2 is going. Live with it.
Did they say it’s being removed? The jeff post seemed to only suggest they were just experimenting with different comps without taking any serious steps forward with them.
They didn’t admit 222 was a failure, they said they’ve tried alternatives because, news flash, they want to address player complaints and they do listen to feedback.
Jeff ended the post by saying that they did not feel 1-3-2 was a good fit for the game and that they weren’t pursuing it, but that they did try it and the experience with it was a constructive one.
PS: Jeff did say he might consider putting resources to open up a way for the community to experiment with different role stacks.
They did not, Jeff said they tried it, just like they tried 1-4-1 and found it to be a dumpster fire.
I tried that wishful thinking over 2-2-2 when that was announced.
May not be 1-3-2 replacing it, but it’s going.
are you a developer? Just wondering where you’re getting this insider information.
No 2 2 2 is moronic and it just caters to the healers who would just complain every time a team comp wasn’t exactly to their liking. 2 2 2 is garbage team comp and it ruins a lot of the fun of the game.
When the player-base is 70-80% DPS, when the idea was to have 3-4 DPS metas (as the devs have said earlier on), when the hero pool was largely DPS to represent this… it isnt pandering.
It’s sensible game design to bring OW back to what it was supposed to be and to work with the player-base.
If I need a reminder how much 2/2/2 has helped, I just play 1 game in QPC…
No. No it’s not. I suggest you work on your reading comprehension because Jeff did not say that.
Again, that was not what he said or even the point he was making with the post.
He shared the team’s experience with one of the experiments they run to try and improve the game. No one denies that the DPS queues are long, and obviously the team wants to find a way to help relieve them because they value their players, but they ultimately decided that 222 has the fewest drawbacks. They might make modifications to the system- I actually saw a good recommendation for a priority DPS queue for once today- but his post was mostly just showing the results from their experiment, letting us know they’re listening, and that they are open to suggestions.
If that was the case, 2/2/2 would not have been implemented in the first place.
It’s recognising a pattern in behaviour in their posts and discussion.
If they were listening to the player base then they would do a separate ranked queue with the old queue system. They’re not listening they stopped caring about this game once they announced OW 2.
No evidence points to the playerbase being skewed to DPS that heavily.
From what little info we have it’s probably somewhere around 40%, possibly close to 50%. That said, not even all DPS players are against role queue or 222, they just want additional systems to help alleviate the strain on queue times.
It was implemented because balancing was a mess and the power of tanks and healers long made stacking them preferable leading to an absolute minimum of 222 meta if not 303.
222 was a band aid fix to a host of problems. It worked well for its purpose but needs improving with rebalancing, and rebalancing to how the game was intended to be (which also favours the player-base) makes the most sense
They didn’t do the absolute minimum balance changes to make 222 a success. And you’re expecting them to implement 132 or 232 or something else which would require like 10+ full reworks to not invalidate 2/3 of the cast.
Ok.
More work than anticipated. Easier to dial back from…
