Hitscan advantage needs to go

I am tired of trying to make a point towards people so thick that do not get it after 6 years of the devs not agreeing with their point.

Guess we just need to put a few people together than and ask them if they notice or feel any particular difference shooting guns at medium range in the different games.

Yea of course. Now go get that rank 1 title playing hitscan. It is so easy. Yikes. Everything is so easy all the time, but no one can actually prove it. Hitscan is so OP a diamond could beat a pro player, and than they get HS 10/10 dualing a hanzo with Mcree or solider. It is obviously not easy, it obviously not a free win to play hitscan, it obviously not better to always play hitscan, it obviously not a loss coz you are playing projectile. You lose duals and kill less coz you are a worse player be it you are playing projectile or hitscan they are both equally dependent on your skill level in terms of what effect and impact you will have on the game.

Hero power may effect things yes, but every hitscan is not inherently stronger than every projectile. The game just does not work that way.

And it just so happens that the majority of your ā€œgeneralistā€ heroes are hitscan while the majority of your ā€œnicheā€ heroes are either projectile or shotgun/high-spread hitscan.

Well that is how it is in almost all FPS games/ Hitscan and hitscan-like projectile weapons are the ones that meant to be used in most situations as they provide consistent damage.
And OW is an FPS so it applies to OW.

Hanzo, Echo, Sojourn are all projectile generalists.

Hanzo is the only pure projectile out of any of those. Echoā€™s strongest ability is her beam, which is hitscan. Sojournā€™s strongest ability is her charged shot, which is hitscan.

Her beam is useless if the target inst low health. And to get the enemy low health you have to use your primary a lot and your sticky bombs alot.
You use her projectile attacks 90% of the time.

Same deal here. You use Sojourns primary 80% of the time and her secondary to finish off targets. But she can also finish off targets with her primary.
She is using her primary most of the time.

76 has a projectile too. McCree has a projectile attack, Widow has a projectile attck. Ashe has a projectile attack.
That doesnt make them projectile.

No matter how you try to spin it. It always come down to what i said.
Niche heroes are niche because of their design.

As far as why hitscan and hitscan-like projectiles are general use , i have explained this many times.
Just because players know very little of FPS games and OW is their first FPS game , doesnt mean all that is thrown out the window because of their ignorance on FPS games.

Right, the projectile heroes TEND to be niche, but that is why I am talking about nicheness rather than projectileness.

Yes, they tend to be the most consistent weapons, which means that projectiles need to be buffed until they are on the same standing as them.

Since overwatch is tuned for OWL and top500, you would expect to see a good mix there, but there isnā€™t.

So, it means that projectile is undertuned, or that Niche heroes are the ones mostly using projectiles.

Butā€¦

Say it is that projectiles are undertuned, then, they should be buffed, or hitscan nerfed.

Or that it is the niche conversation, and the niche heroes should be better at their niches.

Either way the stats donā€™t bear out that everything is balanced right now.

Bastionā€™s kit is actually quite good. the only reason he is bad is his tank plus size hitbox.

Guy, when we say hitscan, we mean precision hitscan. you know this. We all know this. and none of them are niche. Bastion is the only BAD precision hitscan. The only one. Even Ana and Bap are really good because of thier hitscan nature.

What range? She has less average dps at range than McCree and he has a HANDGUN
