I agree with the overall message of the video: Overwatch has achieved some great things, that is for sure. However now it has become focused primarily on OWL. Furthermore, I think it was a real blow to the community when we found out last week that resources were diverged from the game itself in order to facilitate the launch of OWL, particularly when there there were so many - myself included - that thought that this would never be the case.

The video is right: Overwatch can be better. It’s really up to Blizzard to make the call on this. They can either divert everything once again to making their investment in the OWL pay off, or they can once again put the same amount of resources that they had at launch into making the game live up to its launch standards regardless of how much is also invested in OWL. Time will tell what decision they’ll make.

I have to admit with Jeff teasing that there’s “something bigger” they’re working towards plus hiring a new writer, I am confident that there are plans for some kind of expansion or greater or more frequent events. But maybe that’s just “soon”.

well the melee portion anyways most of the toxicity comes from constantly having to fight them or just to get them to shut up.

TLDR: Ovewatch started out great but due to poor balance decisions and unchecked toxicity as well as shoving e-sports down everyone’s throats it’s slowly falling from the peak it reach way to soon.

I think this video’s predictions are inaccurate based on what I’ve heard about Blizzard’s hiring and rumored future plans for the game and IP franchise. That said, I don’t think I’ve seen the game’s problems identified in a better way anywhere else.

The devs need to watch this, especially the part about the sledgehammer balance changes. Mercy isn’t the only victim there. In fact, Symmetra may have been the hardest hit hero to-date. She just doesn’t get the same attention because not as many people liked her to begin with.

Multiple heroes need changes reverted, and future balance changes need to be more frequent but more conservative to keep the game healthy and to stop alienating players by taking their favorite toys away.

only enforcing 6v6 would kill the game.best example many who reached masters or higher made through solo Q. enforcing 6v6 would help how.

why is that? so many only play QP, what do you want them to play.

starting from diamond, you win or lose as a team you get the same amount of SR.

blizzard since the start said that this is a game meant for 6v6 but the vast majority like to play solo Q since the game came out.

you must be dreaming when an average match is 20mins not including 2cp. which could mean making matches 1-2 hours long. why do you think KOTH is now only the best of 2 and not 3 anymore. why else did they reduce the pre-match time on some modes. people hat too long games. thats why 2cp is hated since day 1.

of course not if these ideas were implemented in this game in reality the game would die so fast. blizzard knows and thats why we wont see such changes.

Interesting video.
It could be argued that every game falls slowly after a while, it’s a force of nature almost. The question is how slow: I think for those of us who enjoy OW, it’s very acceptably slow

This would be something, but I find it a bit unlikely. Doing “X but better” is Blizzard’s area of expertise, and as someone who is very interested in the hero shooter genre (i.e. tried most of them), I think they did it again with OW. And very few other studios have the budget and crew that Blizzard has, so they’ll have their work cut out for them.

PS: r.i.p. Gigantic, a game I actually preferred but couldn’t stay alive, being sort of in competition with OW being one of the reasons

i will have to agree the game has gone down hill im rarely spotted playing Tracer as they destroyed her to protect character like Orisa in my opinion and with some of the other tweaks in the game ive lost alot of interest in the game though today ive played a bit while i havent really played OW in like maybe over a month or more been doing some other things like watching tv or doing something else i probably have played with in that time frame but just dont really remember but i wish Jeff and the dev team would see how alot of the community is unhappy with some of the recent nerfs and buffs n stuff while some was needed there was others that wasnt

Shows signs this was never supposed to be the game we wanted but always planned to be that esport money maker like Star Craft turned into.

He is right about ow.

But the worst part is that blizzard wants to make Ow the new king of esport.
But a esport games should reward skill above everything and with some heroes like hanzo,mercy and brigitte this game never been so noskill.

Mercy is a litteral god since August 2017 .
They don’t want to nerf her so they buff everything to op levels (except tanks) .

Actual Ana is far better than season 3 Ana who was opaf for the time.

Moira is not even meta now but if she was released before Mercy’s rework she will be nerf hammered and fast .

This game is like hearthstone after league of explorers powercreep , powercreep and more powercreep.
