Bad Overwatch is dying. Good Overwatch is going to keep growing. OWL is getting more and more teams. OWL is the undeniable future of Overwatch. If you donāt like OWL you donāt like how Overwatch is supposed to be played. There is no argument with that.
So owl is overwatch?
The game is just an esport? k
Many new teams have been added already to the league and itās only going to get bigger and bigger. All this hate towards the game is just non sensical, or people mad at someting in particular that they hate and saying the game is over when in reality is getting better and better. Iām going to be laughing at these people when the game continues to grow and be better than ever and they keep posting this āOW is dying!!ā threads over and over again.
Idk how many videos like this iāve seen about Diablo and World of Warcraft already and both seem okay. But hey, weekly āOW is dyingā topic is here letās post.
OWL is how you play Overwatch. MMing is not.
Iām pretty sure that the forum was rife with statements about how OW is dead or dying last summer.
As assertive as Cleanprince sounds in this essay, I think he is wrong about quite a few things.
āOverwatch changes are either so egregiously bad or confusing, that you genuinely wonder if Blizzard has only two buttons.ā If this is truly his thoughts and he thinks Blizzard āchanges for the sake of changeā, Iām sorry to say this, but he has no idea on how hard it is to balance this game, with 25+ heroes and all their synergies with one another, at all levels of play, factoring in netcode and different types of communication. Admittedly, when I see some changes I wonder what they are about too, but I am able to after some time side with the balancing decision after having played around with them for a bit.
āA change that shouldnāt need to be changed so quickly in the first placeā¦ā references his thoughts toward balancing a new hero shortly after their debut.
Again, this makes it seem like he is ignoring the fact that they only have not that many people beyond their internal studio when initially playtesting any upcoming new hero. Itās only when they are released to the public do they get a real world understanding of how they perform.
That is just addressing the first third of the video, but it really doesnāt sound like he understands the core mechanics of the game to be making these statements that he wants his viewership to come to understand as hard truths.
There is so many more thoughts I have about this authorās opinion on Overwatch but I will leave it right there.
I will comment however, that I do believe Overwatch is stagnant, but not in a sharp decline because there are huge developments surrounding the game that simply are not ready to be revealed yet. Things like replays and guilds (both features which can be very gamechanging if done right), budding partnerships with NERF and LEGO, an additional potential 120 million to 180 million dollars coming from the second round of OWL team formations to nicely pad the gameās (or the Leagueās) budget.
Balance is better than it has been in a while. They are addressing concerns of things being overpowered, WITHOUT sledgehammering balance in one direction or another, like Cleanprince claims in his video.
These developments that are being worked on seemingly behind the scenes may not be what many of you want in the moment, but they all point to Blizzard being very serious about their game and I can tell they are in it for the long haul. We are simply in a dry spell and thatās why it feels like the way it does.
What about Casual players?
The game wasnāt made for them?
They also benefit. The more they devs balance and build the game around organized play the better the game gets.
But then every hero should be viable, right?
(not in every situation)
Yeah and according to people in the pro scene we are at a point very close to that right now.
Good to know
Absolutely, Iām very happy to see the game turn this direction.
thereās a few iffy statements but yeah, he does manage to point out OWās issues fairly well unlike every other youtuber out there
i donāt like most of his āessaysā at all but i give credit where its due
Then that needs to be enforced in the actual game.
Comp 6v6 only, no QP, no individual rank, clan/team ladder, and best of 5 sets instead of 1 map per comp match. The community doesnāt actually get the opportunity to compete like the pros.
Or are you saying the proper way to enjoy Overwatch is to watch others play it?
Aside from the best of 5 because itās pointless thatās fine.
Good luck with that. Smash community is even more toxic than this one can be.
Smash forums arenāt a nice place lol
Hopefully Blizz starts fixing the game. Not even a year ago I was so glued to the game. It was my favorite game and on some weekends it would be the only game I played. It is pretty sad to see what it has become as of right now.
Hopefully it will become as good as it was a little over a year ago (pre Doomfist was when I started playing)
He has a point.
The new D.Va is WEAK.
i Do not remember d.va being this weak a year ago.
