High Latency in Middle East

I have been playing overwatch for years with high latency, which has recently become even higher.

All of the middle has the same issue while playing overwatch.

How do I resolve this issue?

NOW ITS EVEN HIGHER

I wonder if there’s a location they could make that’s near the middle east, but inside a country that has favorable laws on not censoring videogames.

Looks like Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, and Morocco would be my first guess.

I’m surprised you guys don’t have your own servers yet. It would be a big help to people who live in europe and those who are in the middle east.

I heard they were making a server in Bahrein a while ago, don’t know how things are going right now. They should try to do it in Israel if it doesn’t work out, it’s a very developed country, somewhat centralized in the region.

What about Dubai for a server location? Is it geographically desirable

They should probably have two servers in Israel. One for Israelis, and people west of Israel. One not for Israelis and people east of Israel.

Yeah, but they are a bit trigger happy on censorship.

But maybe that doesn’t apply to videogames.

They have servers in China. They should just focus on server locations and ignore favoring a political side.

AWS Bahrain has a PTR server. Why it hasn’t been used for live is unknown.

Looks like Google is gonna be hosting a lot of Blizzard servers, and Google doesn’t seem to have any Middle East adjacent data centers…

Not sure if there are enough players for that, though. I know Israel has somewhat of a player base, they even went to the OWWC last year, but I don’t know about the rest.

I live in Brazil and here in South America the game is dying. We used to have 3 servers (Chile, Argentina and Brazil) but they closed the Chilean and Argentinian servers in July last year when Role Queue came out, probably to make queues faster.

That kinda backfired because there’s a lot of prejudice in this region and many people I know quit the game because of that. Currently there aren’t many high diamond players and above in the region, if you queue at that level you’ll get 30 min long wait time and will probably end up in a game in the NA region with 160+ ping after that wait.

Oh, looks like Google Cloud Platform is going to launch in Qatar soon.

And Blizzard is transitioning to using Google Cloud Platform.

Well, the game currently has a server in Brazil (more precisely in São Paulo) and not in Chile, unlike the datacenter image showed. Not sure if it’s too relevant.

Bring some servers in Africa too, 200ms plus is killers

Well…
You might be able to use middle east server…

Kinda surprised there’s not a single dot near Africa.
