Every single day multiple posts that are clearly harassing, derailing and inciting nonconstructive discourse are reported and yet their authors continue to post every day with no real repercussions. Something needs to be changed here because if Overwatch is supposed to support safe spaces that are free of harassment why are your very own forums full of it? And that’s despite the fact that it says in bold blue letters in a pinned post that harassment is strictly forbidden.
Before you tell us to report the posts - we do. A lot of them you delete - meaning they must have been seen by a moderator. And yet the same names continue to post day after day with no real repercussions for their behaviour. Occasionally you suspend someone for a couple of days. They just log off onto an alt account and continue to do the same thing. This just isn’t good enough.
If you insult or personally attack someone - either directly or by implication - that should be a permanent suspension. No ifs no buts. Zero tolerance. Microsoft wants to repair Blizzard’s bad reputation doesn’t it? Or do you want more negativity around the company being complacent when it comes to harassment? If forum management doesn’t take proper action I’ll have no choice but to escalate this - first to Aaron Keller and Alec Dawson via their socials. The matter will then be escalated directly to Microsoft if necessary.
The Overwatch community deserves better.
You can make this right.

“Safe space.” I love that euphemism. You can use it to control what other people say just by pretending to be offended by any opinions you don’t like. All it takes is being a somewhat-skillful liar.

I do not think disliking mercy is a personal insult there buddy. It is simply a subjective view of a character in the game😅
Literally the same for all heroes. Of course not all the fanbois are as vile and delusional to the point they believe everything is a personal insult when it is simply regular criticism of game elements. Some people warp things and can not make the distinction thou.
Personally I can barely remember the last time anyone posted a personal insults towards someone as a OP.

Its a double-edge sword though.
We all have opinions on how the game “should be”. But not everyone sees it from the same point of view.
Leaver penalties has been a very hot topic here and both sides call each other bad names over this.
You’d think for something that is super controversial in gaming which literally up-ends a video game from one half of the audience and supports the other. Blizzard would try to compromise but they don’t.
It also stems from the fact that one side will not see it from the other side’s point of view.
ANd this just isn’t a community problem. It is a society problem. Leading to whom can insult whom in the best possible way and just shell out feelings instead of facts.
Blizzard’s biggest issue is; They will not punish the side that agrees with them and their policies, but instead punish those that are offering feedback.
So the only best solution for blizzard is to go with the notion that maybe instead of having a feedback forum for the court of public opinion and promoting attacks against one another. That they go back to direct email feedback.
And Yes I do agree Harassment is out of hand. Many times the moderators here have taken very unfair approaches of taking down one side’s opinion and left the other up. Its 100% bias.
It also does not help when we have people here that admit they use this forum with multiple accounts, and that they do flag posts with their multiple accounts. In order to enforce their narrative.
We also have to be mindful that the forum allows free access. Which means people can “poison” the narrative. This includes competing companies can do the same thing.

We all know about the paradox of tolerance buddy but its always paradoxical that often times, these insanely harsh and black or white measures are used in the name of “safety”.
You can’t have discussion without friction, thats an echo chamber.
And if you brutally censor any voice that you consider dissonant, you don’t have safe spaces, you have dictatorships.

This is true, ive seen people get suspended over the smalled light hearted stuff and yet people actively being nasty all the time get scott free or with a slap on the wrist, its clear mods have favourites in here

Indeed. Imagine if instead of having the good and clean discussions that we have always had that they just didn’t exist. That would change so much.
Can you be more specific what you qualify as harassment? Like a post?

Pretty much, but they did stay up for a shockingly long while, and it was… pretty wild. Accusations of some very illegal stuff and it just kinda got worse from there.
I think we will see mod related stuff in the forums for a couple of days as aftershock.
But yes, the mods did pull it down.
But it was extreme, and I think OP wants the bar set a long long long way from that. I don’t agree with Elrond here, in that I think zero tolerance stuff never works out well.

I only saw the one post and it was flagged pretty hard.
I don’t remember seeing multiple so it makes it seem like one of those situations where people see one instance and act like there are 30 of them taking over.
I saw at least 3. And some peeps on some of the discord channels are talking about another two. (three threads directly, and stuff was spilling over into other threads.)
Anyway, It’s all gone now, and that is for the best.

Thanks to a well mannered Potato i learned that some dirty stuff happened earlier, but after reading this posts messages, i must say i’m furious that nobody alerted me while the events were taking place.
Wasting so many hours on those forums and missing the key events is revolting.
I’m not happy.
