Hanzo is Too Powerful and Shouldn't Be a 3 Star Hero

While this thread may not be toxic. This thread will be watched by the Brigitte Spaghetti Movement in case it does go south

Sincerely, The Brigitte Spaghetti Movement

Widow has advantage because of her scope and hitscan weapon but the downsides of it makes her very risky to play against him.

Scope makes her slow while moving and she can’t jump while in scope mode.
Also with hitscan she HAS to exactly aim at Hanzo’s head not in the direction or somewhere near his head.

This is what favors Hanzo, he can hop while charging his bow and has greater FOV (Field of View). With help of sonic arrow you use peeking advantages against her and start shooting near her head. That’s how I usually deal with most of the widows. Only good widows with god like aim will somehow be able to headshot you in that tiny fraction of your visibility.

But this is just how I see this situation.

Hanzo vs Widow. The main issue is simple.

Hanzo can fire the same kind of damage off in all encounters. Widow cannot.

Widow is disrupted if she is caught, or approached. Damage wise it isn’t bad, but frankly widow has very poor control in close range encounters with none of the benefits that characters like Tracer/Soldier/sombra bring to the table despite the similar weapon.

To even that out, Hanzo could have a damage reduction based on proximity. Many games that seek balance with ranged weaponry do this, Although it wouldn’t make sense in reality.

Frankly Hanzo is technically OP, but an overwhelming majority of players are truly bad with him. Thus you’re going to find reluctance for nerfs coming from the OW team. However, The sniping meta is already pretty bad and It’s strange people who almost always lose with the character consistently pick him anyway.

projectile is dodgeble, hit scan is not. when both side has god aim but hanzo’s arrow takes time to get their opponent, sorry at gm lvl it will make all the difference.

You’re allowed to be frustrated about Heroes but his “Potential” does not equal “Reality”, and it does not reflect in his statistics. No player in the entire game hits every single Storm Arrow headshot, and every single Left Click with 100% unrelenting accuracy. I want to voice my agreement with you on segments of what you’re saying but I also want you to understand you’re arguing under the assumption that a 100% Accuracy Inhuman being is playing Hanzo in every single game. He has the Potential to be too powerful, I absolutely agree with that statement, but not your title.

When you say “Hanzo can kill any tank in 5 seconds”, what you’re actually saying is-- if a Hanzo and a tank were standing next to each other and the tank didn’t move or attack, Hanzo could kill him in 5 seconds.
That is not reality, the Tank will counter play him, and dodge/block arrows 99% of the time. Nobody is 100% accurate and his burst potential that you’re describing is paranormal is not mechanically possible or 100% consistent of the human user during in-game scenarios.

Yes, a Hanzo can get a sneak attack on a Tank and kill them very quickly with the potential you’re describing and it would reflect the outcome in the scenario above this paragraph; because there’s no resistance or variables from the victim tank. That is the result of poor awareness on the Tanks fault and does not reflect that Hanzo is overpowered. Reaper for example, could do the same thing, and nobody would complain because Reaper gained the advantage and attacked under circumstances that he could control. Not because he is overpowered.

If you wanna talk “Potential”, there are a lot of Heroes in the game who have the “Potential” to dominate the enemy team in the way you are describing above, but human error, latency, accuracy, counter-play, and infinte variables make that into a spectrum instead of a fixed value. You may feel like every Hanzo you fight lands all his shots but I would wager you’re just getting a negative reaction from your assumptions of his potential.

I agree that he should not be labeled as a sniper. A Sniper by definition loses effectiveness with the reduction of range exponentially. Compared to Widow’s aiming, It is far easier to aim with Hanzo in ANY range due to the stripping of scope vision FoV and faster shot charge rate. This is where people get frustrated, because they dive him to try and kill him and they get head-shot immediately and killed. Being killed by a character classified as Sniper while you’re standing 3 feet from him is infuriating to anyone who believes they have a mechanical advantage over “Snipers” then gets punished for trying.

Hanzo is so easy and op that he has a negative W/L. Trust me, it adds up to broken if you skewer the stats a little.

Solution : let’s not call him a sniper
The end

Basically OP wants Hanzo removed from the game, nothing new.

P.S. Hanzo is statistically balanced, any nerfs will actually make him underpowered. You guys just don’t like dying to a Hanzo.

Yeah, I understand. I don’t really agree that Widow needs to have god like aim to kill Hanzo, because as someone in high plat, I don’t really ever play with or against anyone with god like aim, and I get countered by Widows enough to consider them a threat by default.

However, there are a lot of parameters here, such as the map we’re playing on, team comps, what everybody is doing… Everybody has maps and team comps where they work better and some where they struggle, so it’s not a really easy way to simply say “Pick Widow and click his head,” but it remains a viable strat. As always, if you’re not proficient on a hero, it will be difficult to counter someone who mains a hero.

In theory, Widow should have the advantage and a good Widow player will be able to at least keep a Hanzo occupied (I’ve spent some games just dueling a Widow, I think the enemy tanks didn’t even know my team had a Hanzo). If we’re equally skilled at our heroes, the duels will most likely work out 50:50. But of course, this can work out in a million different ways in practice. I’d suggest people to help their Widow out if she’s trying to kill Hanzo that’s tilting her team (I’ve seen people ignoring their 10 HP Widow who is the only person targeting me).

These changes do not make him into a sniper

These changes just make him bad

how to make hanzo a troll pick again 101.
basically i’m saying you’re retarded and this is why low elo players should not have say in balance changes.

I agree with this. I like getting Hanzo in mystery heroes because I know I will be unstoppable vs everyone especially tanks!

you my friend, should work for blizzard. I love the replys of hanzo mains here… But Hanzo isnt balanced at the moment, he have to much mobility, storm arrow is just a free kill on the most other chars (even on some tanks) and can take out shields absolutly quickly for a hero that should be a “sniper”. I dont think the movement speed should be changed, but the dmg and ult charge of storm arrow and also the dmg nerf on his normal fire should. Its a bit weird that arrows deals so much more dmg than a bullet, dont you think?
But I rly love your idea, hopefully the devs see this post and think over it.

Junkrat and Pharah are the hardest hero in the game then.
The better you are at aiming, the more effective you are at hitscan. To most people, projectile is easier because it can compensate for your aim by having large hitbox and spammable shot.
It just mean if you are a bad aimer, you won’t be able to kill anything with widowmaker, but you can still somehow get kill here and there with hanzo.

You fail to mention that Hanzo is the hardest hero to play and takes a very long time to be good at him, only a minority knows how to aim. That’s why he used to be considered as a troll pick back in the scatter days.

Nerfing him will make him worse.

Didn’t know Hanzo arrows were AoE and could bounce off walls still exploding.

Stars mean nothing, they should just remove that all together.

Hanzo don’t have damage fall of so he can kill a tank in 5 seconds even if he is 100 meters away

News flash, he isn’t meta anymore.

Now it’s sombra Doomfist dive and i hate it.

Or nanoblade, because solo queue.

When has that ever stopped people from complaining about Hanzo?
