Or Scoping should definitely count as an ability, since it isn’t an alternate fire. I lost count of how many times I’ve hacked Widow and Ashe, but still been headshotted down regardless. Hack does virtual nothing to snipers and I’m supposed to be able to counter them as a flanker, but I can’t.
Umm what? Scoping is an alternate fire… It’s not an ability. Hacking Widow and Ashe already leaves them with no mobility making them an easier pick.
Wait if you hack a junkrat can they still detonate mine? Because thats alternate fire. I honestly do not know if he can or cannot.
He can’t, it’s an ability so it’s affected by hack
why should they be nerfed because you can’t strafe properly?
That’s like saying that Double Jump shouldn’t be affected because it doesn’t have an official ability key. Scoping in is an ability, you’re not firing anything. Button based abilities are also effected like Pharah jets and wall climb. Scoping should be the same.
I too agree with you Hold, also this would make it so moira can only heal. It would be a massive buff to Sombra which might incline some backlash and some nerfs.
The problem is Widow and Ashe can’t fire sniper shots in normal mode. You’d disable their gun. If they could. Than you’d have a good argument.
Those are passives so they’re affected by hack. Scoping isn’t.
Why would it effect Moira? It’s not an ability.
The rule of thumb is that if it has an abilitiy Icon on the HUD, it can be Hacked. If it is a form of passive mobility, it can be Hacked. Other than that, everything works. Because scoping has no HUD icon, and is not a pssive form of mobility, and is just a change in the gun to boot, it doesn’t need to be effected by Hack.
Nevermind I do not agree with you. Sombra is fine the way she is.
You shouldn’t be hacking Widow to counter her as Sombra. You should be waiting for her to scope in so you can spray into her head.
No, that is not how you would buff Sombra.
Widow has to switch her weapon to scope mode to use it while Ashe just has to look through the scope. Its an alternate fire without any new mechanic.
I don’t get the obsession with making hack shut down even more things, if you want a target to be literally unable to do anything just kill them, with a more suitable character if needed.
It would have to be kinda mild, and something not really noticeable for higher levels of play.
Ways I could see it somewhat working would be like CoD (I think) where an EMP would also screw up electronic sights where the dot, or w/e, was then gone with ADS.
That’s about as far as I could see this being allowed to go, and it would have a decent effect too. Like Widowmaker losing crosshair for ADS and the visual & sound cue of how strong the shot is. Same for Ashe and Ana losing the crosshair for ADS.
It’s nothing some knowledge of the character or a small piece of sticky note paper wouldn’t cure, though.
However, one thing I still find weird that hack doesn’t effect. It stops everything Lucio does… but Zenyatta it doesn’t return the orbs. I know Zen has a hard enough time against Sombra (really hard time), but I always felt if it shuts down the healing of off-healers, why does Zenyatta go unchecked with it?
I see the orb as a separate form from his body. If you hack him, it stays active. You didn’t do anything to it. It has to have its own power source. And it just has to track the target. Not be wirelessly controlled by Zen. The only thing that clears orb is a Zarya bubble. It blocks the user. That’s the logic i get from it.
Yeah. I get there is some back and forth to it.
It’s just feels like its a grey area sorta thing of its own. I just find it odd is all.
- Zarya bubble drops it
- Lucio and Brig stop healing because their primary fire damages, not heals.
It just feels like Zen gets a weird free pass in it all, but Sombra is already a huge counter towards him, so maybe that’s the pass as well.
Because the ability stops any direct casts/recasts of abilities on targets. Not the existing cast already on a target (unless they’re within the range of EMP).
Zarya’s ally bubble doesn’t stop if you hack Zarya.
