ive played enough comp to know that the experience typically degrades into a shouting match with people who are so hard stuck in ideologies of whats “allowed” to be played and so concerned with their SR that they get triggered and such whenever the game doesnt go along with their “standards”…
furthermore im a flex player…and i abhor not being able to switch roles mid round and only being able to play 222
AND i couldnt care less about rank (i know what good overwatch play looks like and i dont need a number to inform me of that or where i belong)
i dont play much comp not because the game isnt fun or the “state of the game” is w/e…but because the comp environment is not something i enjoy or need
im not ignoring it…nor am i ignorant to it…i just choose not to play it that way…
you wanna know why people tend to find the experience bad? because they set themselves up to not enjoy it all the time
You literally yourself said the comp experience is bad… Freaking lol. I’m not sure I care about your reasons. I just find it hilarious that you act like the game is going great, and then admit you find the main modes near unplayably toxic.
I swear competitive gaming is the worst thing that has happened to the FPS genre.
People tend to forget about the fact that they were having fun when they watch their ‘Skill ranking’ number decrease before their eyes at the end of each game, potentially watching hours of progress disappear. “You thought you were having fun? No, now you’re worse at the game and a loser. Only winners have fun.” Of course, that’s probably intentional as it gets people to continue playing - like XP grinding in an MMORPG but the grind never ends. “Oh, I just lost 5 games in a row? Guess I need to keep playing now until I can regain my lost SR.”
People are so fixated on how lootboxes are predatory addiction-bait (and they are) but the real problem is the system that is intentionally designed to make you feel bad, make you feel like you’re having a bad time and still make you want to keep playing when the alternative could just be to make a fun game.
What rank do you play in? I play all the modes in this game arcade and main modes yet I also feel the game is fine. But I play at a very average rank, so maybe that’s a factor? Perhaps the more average/casual you are, the less concerned about metas and viable heroes you are; you just play what you want when you want and the game is as enjoyable as ever.
If someone asked me what the single biggest balance issue is right now, I don’t know that I would have an answer, because to me, where I play, things feel fine, and my biggest issue is usually with teammates or myself severely underperforming rather than the actual heroes themselves.
ngl this week I’ve been so out of it. like 2 days ago I was playing relatively decent but since then I’m playing like hot garbage. idk if its because of burnout but man this weeks’ been rough
And did silver/gold feel as bad as plat/diamond? Even then, I play most of my comp games with a plat/diamond player and as a result end up in plat games, and to be honest, those feel so much better than the gold games I’m forced to play in when solo.
What exactly about the game’s current state do you find so appalling? Like, what are you experiencing in your games that makes you feel like everything is not hunky dorey?
