it is outrageous that it is not, typing kys in the chat should result in a insta ban. telling someone to end their own life over anything is unacceptable
and for all of you people saying its an in game shot call, yes, thats true but you could just say “jump off the map” instead

Yes that is messed up to say, and people who say that should be banned, but there are instances where someone will say something similar in chat like;
baby dva just go kill yourself so you arnt staggered for next fight
Then theyd get auto banned which isnt right. Report and let the system take care of them
What about when you’re trying to get the team to jump off the map to reset?

Censorship doesn’t work in most cases, people will just find different words.
This pretty much, it would be really bad because of accidental flags. Just report people harassing others, there are chat logs after all.
And as someone who has been suicidal before, has dealt with friends who almost attempted suicide, please never ever joke about this kind of thing. You might actually send someone over the edge.
And don’t hit my with that “gRoW a ThiCkEr SkiN” B.S., how about you just stop being a buttface? 
(Yes that is idealistic and optimistic, and people should be resilient in the face of opposition, but not everyone has the ability to be that strong and everyone has their weak moments as it is.)

Yeh… that was the last one too. I remember the initial discussion agreed the words themselves didn’t warrant an instant ban but if you get reported and the review finds you used the words in non gameplay related ways the punishment should be harsher than just abusive chat.

but
typos do occur, and words that include this string of characters are often quite valid, with none of the problematic meaning of these letters by themselves
Perhaps a compromise solution would work better - something along the lines of — the text of the chat to this point is captured to a data record flagged to be reviewed by the support team with higher priority than most other things
that way, if someone types “I lost my car kys so Im stuck here playing OW tonight” (or something like that) an actual human being would be able to discern whether the kys usage was of the instant ban type or not
but yes, people telling others to {do this specific action to themselves} need to not be playing this game, period
Ehhh it depends on the context. Some people may accidentally type from a typo when they are typing something else. You shouldn’t be insta banned for a little typo. With that logic, why don’t we start spanking kids again for failing their math tests?
Also this may not happen for your friends, but sometimes my friends tell each other kys for lols. One time my friend (let’s call him Fred) and I were playing OW. We were bored and one of them told our us to go look up an anime called Boku no Pico (don’t look this up). After I watched it the first episode (don’t remember why) and Fred was calling to me because I wasn’t saying anything. I then typed in the chat kys half jokingly half seriously because I was kinda pissed for falling for his trick. My friends all laughed and sprayed some more insults at Fred for exposing us to that (even if it was our fault as well).

Auto banners are massively flawed, and this will result in countless accounts getting banned for saying one thing.
