thats only her ult tho, her kit actually has impact on the game, she can sleep ults, she can anti nade team fights which have a huge impact. mercy has bugger all impact aside from rez
Then how about we change the ascetics of Valkyrie?
How about upon activation Mercy explodes with a small cloud of golden rays.
Make Mercy uber bright in appearance. So bright that it is virtually blinding to the enemy team, like a big bright as heck sun with holy sun rays/ moon light raining down toward her allies while Mercy hums a soft chant to herself.
This way Valkyrie feels more dynamic and explosive, literally.
Personally I believe Mercy’s Valk duration is a relic of a time where it centered around the Rez CD manipulations. Now, there is worth in the long duration she has, however, I think that duration can be reduced to say 10 seconds, her passive regen becoming immediate could be removed, perhaps the infinite pistol ammo as well.
With those concessions, I would then try to change the chain beam mechanic in a way that Megadodo’s thread alluded too, with the primary beam having a higher value than the chains, as well as introducing an interaction with rez in the sense of lowering the cast time or increasing the range.
Shifts in power like that, while hopefully, maintaining similar power levels.
That is the most reasonable approach to take from this point imo.
I wouldn’t do all these changes, at least not at once; however I can definitely see at least 2/5 of them being implemented in any combination.
I specifically like the increased distance for rez and boost to the primary beam during Valkyrie. Those are things that should’ve originally been implemented.
I do disagree with the 10 sec cooldown on rez thing a little. I like where rez is as a whole right now. Dont need people QQing about rez making the matches permanently 7 vs. 6 again, let alone 7 vs. 6 during Valkyrie, which would ultimately make Mercy’s ultimate charge rate increase to compensate.
I personally would have a impactful ultimate up often than a game changing ultimate up very rarely. It’s half the reason I cant stand playing Lucio.
Oh I didn’t mean to imply any sort of 10s CD on rez or anything. When I mentioned 10s I was referring to Valks duration. Currently it’s at 15s. I’m saying reeduce that to like 10-12, and then that with the other concessions, take that part of the power budget and place it towards other parts, like beam prioritization and rez interactions.
I think rez is fine, though I can see Valk interacting with rez in the sense of reducing cast time, or increasing the range at which you can perform it, or lessening or removing the move speed reduction, stuff like that, could help a lot with the individual’s experience of the ult, while still keeping it within it’s current sort of power level.
That was a terribly written run on sentence and I’m sorry for that but I’m too lazy to reread it and adjust it. I hope I made sense.
Supercharger is, without argument, better than Valkyrie.
Supercharger provides the team with a 50% damage boost, opposed to Valkyrie where if you decide to damage boost it’s only 30%.
The healing is not a good argument for Valkyrie being better either, because competent Orisa’s don’t panick ult when half their team is dead.
When you use Supercharger you immediately get to continue doing damage, but with a 50% damage boost. In Valkyrie you do not get to deal damage yourself.
The only benefit that Valkyrie has over Orisa’s Supercharger is the fact that she can fly around.
Also… The infinite ammo is not much of a bonus considering that you need to stop healing or damage boosting your team to make use of it.
So…
Yeah.
Let’s give Supercharger to Mercy.
Is Supercharger not strictly better than Valkyrie?
Mercy has to sacrifice everything in her kit to boost damage by 30%. If she could just drop something that would boost is by 50%, she wouldn’t have to sacrifice her healing in order to boost damage.
What do you think Valkyrie is? It doesn’t outheal damage, in team fights it’s biggest use is damage boost which does less than supercharger, doesn’t boost mercy herself unlike supercharger and takes away Mercys usual gameplay UNLIKE supercharger. It’s by all means a budget supercharger.
The alternative is battle mercy which gets you REPORTED. I am really tired of people suddenly imagining all this depth to Valk. Here is what it does. It lets you fly and it gives you chain beams that are weaker than SP when damage boosting and not even noticeable for healing in team fights. Can you please write a comprehensive detailed post about what you do with an ultimate that makes movement easier on a hero that requires mastering movement abilities to survive and gives you long range WEAK chain beams on a single target hero that is supposed to master game sense and target prioritization and follow that target close due to range issues.
So I actually really like valk now that it has the ult charge decrease. I just sort of think of it like the support version of a tracer ult: in that the charge time isn’t too long, and as a result the effects aren’t always “stunning” like some other ults.
Supercharger is pretty much the same, Orisa somewhat relies on her team to capitalise on the damage boost. I don’t honestly see what difference it would make, more of a silly suggestion. If you dare to go Battle Mercy with Valkyrie then you risk false reports or huge amounts of toxicity from your teammates for allowing them to potentially be killed while you might’ve got some kills too.
