Yes Jonathan, if you instalock DPS the other people on your team, which one happens to be a girl, is going to pick support. What an astute observation you have made.
I mean, everyone plays everything. Lots of people say dumb stuff on the internet
I mean I don’t think anyone who ever says this is serious. There are obviously girls who don’t play support. But it’s undeniable that there are a lot of female Mercy and D.Va mains.
What’s wrong with support?
I dunno, I play support and I’m a guy. Heck, sometimes I instalock a support.
I used to be a mercy main and am now a dva main, and I am not a girl.
can confirm.
I pick dps, two or three of my teammates pick dps after me. I sigh and go tank or support.
Happen to be female
Who the heck is Jonathan ?
I mean I like also main Mercy. There being male D.Va and Mercy Mains really doesn’t have much to do with the abundance of female D.Va and Mercy Mains at all.
They don’t have to be serious to be obnoxious.
Yeah it’s obnoxious, that’s why I personally wouldn’t say it. But don’t really take it too seriously.
He’s that guy who always complains that girls only play support after instalocking DPS.
He sounds… Silly.
And also kinda selfish.
We should let people enjoy things and not judge. If girls wanna only be support so be it. No one complains when people like this only pick the extreamly over powered BS characters.
One time I accidentally picked a support hero and I turned into a girl!
I sort of like the mindset of them. It means players should be constantly further away from the people who say that stuff than people who just play the game.
Gender has little to no meaning in regards to gaming.
People like that fail to bring up any other reasons as to why a girl plays a certain character. D.Va and Mercy are already very popular heroes played by a large number of different people, so not sure why it comes off as a stereotype for women when the role or hero themselves are widely known for their popularity for various reasons and played by loads of different people.
The following reasons could be:
- Fun hero to play as
- Person likes the hero’s design
- The person likes the hero in general and their gameplay
- That hero is the best choice in many situations
- The person plays the hero because of their gender (There are people who actually play characters or unknowingly do it due to them being the same gender as themselves)
- No one else chooses to be a support commonly so that person is forced to
Or other reasons.
Before I picked up OW and only watched it being streamed, I fell in love with D.Va’s gameplay and I found her to be the most funnest tank to play as, and I’ve always enjoyed tanking in most of the MMO’s I play as well, so I just jumped in.
I picked up Mercy solely for her gameplay as she’s very fun to play as.
Although I’m a flex player, I’ll admit in most of the MMO’s I play I’m either the tank or support because I love the feeling of being of importance to my team and taking care of them and have them rely on me, and this aspect has carried over to OW as well.
Like, what’s so wrong if I don’t find being a dps fun and don’t want to play it? Seriously just let people play whoever they want.
If we’re gonna go down this girls only play supports route, then whoever claims this obviously disregarded all the female tanks/defense/DPS or flex players out there to fit their own mindset.
Is your avatar grumpy cat?
I have never once made this statement. Do not put words into my mouth.
