Terrible idea. I don’t know why they put it in the game. Just one more thing that makes me want to give up playing the game forever. But, since I doubt they’re ever going to get rid of it, let’s give Rein the ability to cancel his charge! Let’s give every character the option to cancel something. Let’s give every character the ability to press Q and instantly gain full health like Echo or become invincible like DF.

It used to be a way of punishing bad Genji’s that I loved taking advantage of. Now they can just use it without worry of being locked into the animation and being punished for it. Not every Genji was using the wall climb trick to cancel it. Most average ones were just using it locking themselves into it.

I think Blizzard should just revert to his previous state of a middle pick.
The change to deflect right now is way too forgiving.
They should keep the wall climb trick since well, it’s practically a skill mechanic players use if they know how stuff works. Meaning their practice has paid off.
Sure you can cancel only when a wall is near, though this is more than fair.

The worst part of deflect is that its an instant cast ability. You literally cannot react to it and it effectively gives him a second option to engage or use the 2 seconds to get into right click spam range.

Exactly! He can cancel, shuriken, and dash through your face before your computer can even process that he quit deflecting. It’s total nonsense.

I mean, even the ones who could do so weren’t able to do it anywhere they wanted. If they wanted to do so it required their opponent to be near a wall and they needed to engage from a specific angle.
Having to wall climb also means they weren’t able to just get right up in your face point blank and then cancel + RMB + melee right away. Being near the wall required distance from the enemy and also meant they had to adjust aim to look back at them.
So yeah, even good Genji’s who could do this still benefitted immensely from his deflect cancel change.

The cancel deflect is a quality of life change if anything. It’s the spread and damage buff that’s way more impactful.

But… but… but, taking it away would make Genji require some skill again. Blizzard wants to make the game easier, not harder.
Now all Genji has to do is spam right click and press Q to win. Which is dumb…
He is literally a brain dead hero now and not just because of cancel deflect. Most people I see playing Genji and doing well now are people who picked him up like yesterday. In the past the only people you used to see do well with Genji were those that had like 200+ hours on him.

Not even the worst part.
The worst part is definitely the fact that Genji can do the cancel mid-deflecting shots and abilities while the other hero is still locked to mid-firing animation and shoot shurikens before they can recover from firing their shots at instant cast deflect with zero ending lag cancel.
It makes deflect literally unpunishable by abilities which don’t naturally bypass deflect already.

Doomfist reloading his primary in quick melee was a QoL change. Deflect cancel was a straight buff, and it’s on “Fade-out-of-stuns” level, as in “don’t get punished for misplays anymore”.

I agree. This is the worst ability ever in the game now. And no, it’s not even close to Reaper’s “ghost mode”, because Reaper can’t do anything except running. Just imagine: we have cancelable E that reflect attacks of every single gun and ability in the game (except 4 heroes) and can be successfully cancelled ONLY by Brigitte shield bash, Doomfist punch and Sigma’s rock.

Put every Q on a 3sec cooldown 
I think it was ridiculous to remove counterplay to deflect - before, there was a level of practice needed to remember how a genji is going to cancel or when his deflect is coming to an end. Now, you’re literally not only left at the mercy of when the genji will decide to cancel but it also made remembering the timing of his ability completely useless.

Just like these other buffs then. Why the hell they thought any of this wasa good idea is beyond me.
The deflect cancel should never have gone past the toilet break where it was conceived. It was perhaps the one thing that Genji couldn’t just crap out and get away with… bu no more. What a stupid change.
Anyway, we’re up against the people who thought any of this was a good idea, so yeah, don’t expect miracles.
