Fukaroda Ichijoji, Tank Hero Concept (Feedback Appreciated)

Lore: The tale of Fukaroda Ichijoji, Sojiro’s Samurai (Tank Concept Backstory)

Age: 57
HP: 500 (300/200/0) H/A/S
Movement Speed: 5.5 MPS
Role: Off-Tank
Primarily Countered By: Hard CC, D.O.T effects, Snipers
Counters: Shield Based Comps. Spawn Staggering attempts

Abilities:

Passive: Seppuku: When all seems lost, Fukaroda will go out on his own terms. Holding down the crouch button after initially assuming the stance for 1 second will cause Fukaroda to commit Seppuku. This will send him back to spawn with no timer on Respawn, additionally, damage from other sources will not effect him while he is in the process. However, Hard CC effects will stagger him out of the action.

Primary Fire: Sojiro’s Blade: Fukaroda is no Shimada, but with Sojiro’s Blade he can somewhat manifest the dragon’s power.Attacks with the blade sends out waves of energy with a flat DPS value of 80. Fukaroda swings the blade once every .95 seconds, alternating between vertical and horizontal slashes. Waves travel at 30 MPS

The waves of energy act as Projectiles that, while they can be deflected and eaten, can bypass barriers.

War Shout: Fukaroda’s resolve is steadfast, and his determination gives him strength. With a primal shout, Fukaroda heals himself for 150 HP, and increases his attack speed and movement speed by 20% for 5 seconds.

The effects of the shout partially carry over to allies within 5 meters, Healing them for 50 on the spot. CD of 9 seconds.

Endurance: Fukaroda tightens his focus and endures the pain of enemy attacks. Fukaroda gets a 15% Damage Reduction buff when activating the ability. Furthermore, Fukaroda can fall down to only 1 HP if Endurance is active. That margin of health is protecte for 1 second. The buff itself lasts for 5 seconds. CD of 20 seconds

Shieldpiercer: Fukaroda pours his being into summoning Sojiro’s Dragon for a single, devastating strike. The strike of the dragon pierces shields, dealing a tremendous amount of damage to them in the process (2500 to be precise) with a hitbox akin to Coalescence, it also deals 150 Damage to enemies hit. The dragon however, can not pass through terrain, meaning that a Mei wall could stop it, at the cost of being destroyed immediately upon doing so.

Friendly Call Out: “Now is the time to strike!”
Enemy Call Out: “Taste my blade!”

Charge Required: 2355

Voicelines:

Killed by enemy Genji: “You’ve grown stronger, Sparrow…”

Killing Hanzo: “It has to be done…”

Fukaroda: “Never forget who taught you the blade.”
Genji: “It is the student’s duty to surpass the Master.”

Zenyatta, On killing Fukaroda: “Become obsessed with Resolve, and it becomes a weakness.”

Rare Nanoboost line: “FOR SOJIRO!”

Being Revived: “An act of divine intervention.”

Request Healing: “It’s only a flesh wound.”

“Never underestimate a butterfly.” (Get the reference?)

Killing Hanzo with a wolf skin equipped: “A lone wolf is destined to starve.”

This is a really awesome hero.

I love the flavor with them along with the thematic references with his story.

Book-marking this for later… I love the idea of a samurai hero

Thanks a bunch! I debated going with Endurance over another Ability I made called Rejuvenating Stance actually

I really like this hero. You kept well with the theme. I find the suicide ability quite amusing though.

Why thank you! I was wondering if I really should add Seppuku as a part of his kit in all honesty

Alright I’m back to take a look.

This is a cool ability, but I honestly don’t see it being that useful just because the instances in which you can use this ability (meaning you weren’t killed) and aren’t also going to be gated by your teammates’ respawn timers are going to be few and far between.

I think it’d be much better if you could Seppuku to grant a positive benefit to your team. For instance, using the same mechanics but w/o the damage resist, Fukaroda could Seppuku to grant all teammates within 10 m the Bushido effect, which grants them 20% damage resistance and damage boost for 2 seconds plus 1 second for every 100 Health he has on death. Fukaroda has a reduced respawn timer when doing this.

Only gripe here is the alternating directionality of the waves. I would keybind them separately and perhaps alter the behavior somewhat–vertical slashes travel faster (i.e. 40 m/s) but obviously can’t catch as many enemies, and horizontal slashes travel slower but can sweep across multiple enemies. It makes him a bit more intuitive and a little more flexible without letting him do too much. All the rest looks fine.

I would start at a 12 second cooldown (you’re basically combining Overload with AOE burst heal), but otherwise looks good! Cooldowns can always be adjusted but I do think 9 seconds is a bit low.

I like that this incorporates the mechanics from Immortality. That’s cool. That said, it does seem a bit weak, just because it’s very short duration and leaves him at 1 HP, which a stray bullet could do. I’d argue for 10% Health lower cap and 25% damage resistance, keeping the same duration and cooldown.

This is pretty cool. No real criticism on this, because it requires some line-up but has pretty good rewards without just being a TPK.

Also, Fukaroda Ichijoji is kind of a mouthful… Maybe try something easier that also matches his thematic design as a samurai without a master… like Ronin

Thanks for the feedback! I was actually curious as to whether or not to make Shieldpiercer his ultimate. I was really weighing the pros and cons it had and I wasn’t too sure about it

I think given that it’ll instantly bust everything short of a Symm ult and do pretty heavy damage to the enemy team, it’s fine. If it turned out too weak, you could just cut down the charge cost, but I think being able to instantly remove the enemy’s barriers from play is a pretty powerful move

I guess my concern came from the fact it’d be a heavy hit to Orisa, Winston, and Sym while Brig and Reinhardt could just lower their shields if they heard Shieldpiercer coming. But it does make up for that with damage potential…
