context: your overwatch video "It’s Time to Revert Overwatch Back to 6v6 "
Like i know he agrees 6v6 is better now but some of his points are still off. 5v5 is not more balanced because bad players who don’t understand the game can click heads to solve all their problems. It is not more “competitive” that it is easier in 5v5 to keep track of everything happening. fighting games are ultimately glorified rock paper scissors as he admits, you can’t know what your opponent will do, and you have to guess and pray something works. so how is it being easier to understand the game make it more skillful or competitive? I feel like these words mean different things to him then me.
he also brings up tank synergies like dva winston being unstopable on certain maps, which while true is it truely a problem, and why can’t we fix it by changing maps? and ofc we could nerf dva or winston more.
i played and enjoyed 6v6 adjustments where all the tanks baring jq and debatably mauga were statistically worse in every metric, where season 9 changes were all reverted back to OW1. we don’t need Reinhardt to have 2k shield hp, or for DVA to be a nuclear reactor bombing people to dust.
also he keeps saying support feels better in 5v5 because you have more chances to do damage, where as i hate 5v5 support because it IS possible to keep your team alive AND do damage so if you don’t multitask doing both you are basically throwing. it makes playing main supports like lucio brig and mercy feel bad because they by design cannot do that and need to get value out of their utility, and they have to compete with characters like bap that can do everything their kit has all at once.
His brain truly is alien to me.
I guess he finally saw the writing on the wall. That or he got some remedial obedience training via the Moira orbs he hates. Funny considering the video he made a couple of months ago comparing 6v6’ers to flat earthers.

It’s possible in 6v6 as well. It was during OW1 life too.

He says DVa does everything and Widow is still a problem, even in 6v6. Well, maybe the problem is THE CHARACTERS and not the format. Maybe they always were.

He said that too. That’s why he advocates for hero bans.
I’m against the idea, but it would no doubt help create a better environment in some ways.

True, but “fortunately” all the main supports except maybe mercy have been buffed to actually compete with them. So even though bap is still a menace in Theory, he isn’t forcing a double shield meta and stifling my ability to play the heroes and play styles I enjoy. Kiri I think is kinda meh, and lw similar just isn’t doing enough for the team in my experience.
Fyi I don’t hate ana because single target healing and long cooldowns with big punishment windows makes her fun for me to fight, to play too because high risk high reward is my dopamine. But less so to play because I LOVE mobility.

This is both a completely false statement and an incredibly reductionist claim about the Fighting Game genre.
Terms like “yomi” and “abare” originate from these games, and are similar to Chess and Go terms. So, unless you want to take reductionist argument about Chess being nothing more than RPS, fighting games cannot be simplified into such basic terms.
Basic principle of any game is to simplify it down to its core essential parts and make it easy to understand for everyone, even children, to get into. If you build a game where take a top-down approach and only balance for the most elite, you’ll chase away anyone who might be interested in it.
Games like Chess and Go survive for centuries because they’re easy to understand and get into. Games like Basketball, Soccer are popular sports because they’re easy to read and understand. It’s not the game that’s complicated or skillful, it’s the player that makes them that way.
Tracer, boiled down to her core essentials is pretty easy to understand and play. And she is one of the most skilled heroes in the game for good reason.
Widowmaker is only really a problem if you don’t have barriers or are not properly supported to eliminate or control her shenanigans in 6v6. Otherwise, she’s a fairly easy element to control for Tanks and Supports.
The only reason he’s glazing 6v6 now is because MR is 6v6 and has hero bans and he sees an opportunity to push the ban idea…that’s been his agenda for 8 years now with his channel

Probably. Guess we’ll see what happens

5v5 is way better, if they balanced tanks. Removing headshot reduction, putting the dps passive at 20% against tanks.
6v6 has more clutter, broken tank synergies, longer queue times ( wait 2 weeks i bet they’ll be twice as long) more ultimate spam, more shields, Sigma is completely broken in 6v6
Support is WAY more fun in 5v5 having the time to dps, most support players are healbots and don’t realize this
Literally every 6v6 game I played just came down to tank ultimate’s and some cringe kid crutching Sigma
And make them unplayable outside of the specific scenario in which they’re strong? No. It’s a problem unfixable with balance because it’s a core design issue
6 years of overwatch 1 and 2 years of overwatch 2 and these designs haven’t meaningfully changed enough to fix any of their problems, so it’s not likely to change ever
Synergy is still broken when it happens, the game is still way too much about what you pick and not how you play. At least in 5v5 the synergies are much weaker. You have an entire less player after all
Freedo is a very intelligent and eloquent dude. I sat through the longest video that I’ve seen from him and what his says has merit. A lot of it is subjective, but the whole of 5v6 debate, with one major exception, is subjective. People even try to subjectify that one objective aspect that came out of it, which is the massive reduction of queue times for DPS (and to a lesser degree Support).
For the past week I’ve been playing 6v6 almost exclusively and I’ve been enjoying it a lot, but despite it all, I’m more and more becoming convinced that I like 5v5 better for the long term.
It’s more of him saying what others are not and getting the views from it…
Yes Team comp matters more in 6V6 then 5V5 cause there’s another player to worry about…
It’s more of a trade off… especially with the newer heroes added to the game (for 5V5)
It definitely does not. Hero bans never improve the game enough to justify the annoyances that come with banning characters.
There are plenty examples of this. Just look at Rainbow Six Siege. It’s better to just continuously balance the game than it is to pretend like banning characters magically fixes the game.
I’m assuming Freedo has never touched a game with hero bans and that’s why he has that assumption that it’ll fix everything.
Freedo just has crazy takes, even when it’s objectively the correct take he somehow manages to make his argument sound dumb

Feels to me like he’s one of the few with a different perspective. Every other streamer I’ve seen says the same thing.
I think 6v6 is one of those things that works better for the highest tiers of play. For everyone else, 5v5 is better flat out.
Yomi means to read your opponent, aka playing rps. Abare is a technique that only works because it’s usually a very punishable bad idea. AKA bad rps.
Once you get past the mechanical depth of the game, the fundamental is using your understanding to predict your opponents move. Sometimes instead of this people just pick the safest most option covering buttons as often as they can, but even those people mixup.
Because the game is rps. Every action you do can lose to a specific alternative action from your opponent.
Rps.
It is all rps. IDK why you say all this and it doesn’t even prove me wrong.
Chess and go are also games that have enough breath of options that people sometimes lose because they failed to consider some of them. That is the game.
Streamers are dogbowl water with brainrot
If I wanted to deal damage I’d pick a damage roll hero.
Oh and OWC is a superior game.
Bring it back permanently.
Thanks.
Wasn’t he who said 5v5 is great or was it someone else?.
Support is fun in 5v5 and is great in 6v6. Some players prefer being healbots. They prefer supporting their team in those way. Not everyone playstyle is the same and nothing wrong with those.
