Frame Drops Server Wide?

My friend and I also noticed this in out games tonight. Like the others before have said, it seems to be tied to new chat messages, Ult status, or any comms. I wonder if this has to do with the new captions system. Hope it gets fixed soon, thanks for the hard work!

seems like CPU usage issue, my CPU usage was more than doubled compare to last patch, with a new ryzen 3700x, ow maxed out almost 6 threads on my CPU, which is very strange, maybe relate to the new anticheat system

A detail worth noting - the game stutters when something is said in match chat. It could be the chat that has something to do with it.

The game is almost unplayable

All commands make the game stutter. Group up, need healing, etc. your allies affect it too so the game is essentially unplayable for competitive

Yeah, sometimes it’s worse, sometimes it’s okay.
In my last game some players were running in a “straight line” I made fun of it a little bit because it’s free kills.
In my next game, I was constantly killed even though I was covered.

This looks a lot like server performance problems.

It’s a pity that there are apparently no more tests before the public releases.
There’s a lot of trouble with this patch. There are more bugs than usual.

i’m tired of telling the same thing, but yep, another patch, another bugs what make ow unplayable, and as i seen many ppl have same problems

every time when i press escape, die and respawn, change hero, game frame drops and cpu utilization increases for random amount of time. about frezes, they happens when you press escape and randomly in-game

It’s not random, frames drop every time when someone switches character, uses a voiceline or says something in the chat. Not sure about voice comms, most likely that drops frames too.

The frame drops seem to be when something pops up in the chat.
Try and do /hidechat it should fix a few frame drops.

It’s ridiculous, I can’t even play. Blizzard can you address this?

Gameplay is so bad after the last patch I am unable to play !!! 7/17/19

Is anyone else noticing that the game stutters for a split second every now and then?

Yup, it’s happening to a lot of my friends, me included ever since the patch hit live.

It’s not on every game but still quite often for anyone to notice. I checked my ping but it’s not related to my internet.

I guess their patch messed something up which explains those stutters or micro-lags, as usual with Overwatch ^^’ !

In4b a moderator comes in and tells us there’s nothing wrong with the game and that we should check with our internet provider  !

They made me waste so much time by saying this when all I had to do was to wait for a patch to fix any disconnection or lag issues.

For once the moderators and devs are listening and acknowledged it’s on their end as you can see for yourself here :

“Thanks for this report. We are currently looking into this issue.”

It should be fixed “soon” !

After the recent patch, the game appears to have a minor frame drop that lasts for a moment each time something pops up in the chat feed. Whether its a player typing a message or even when someone uses something from the Comms wheel, it happens.

Because messages frequently pop up throughout a match, these stutters are constant.

I’m having the same problem and multiple people I play with. Sometimes when people spam it gets so bad it’s totally unplayable. I’m on xbox

Yep, same issue, the game used about twice amout of CPU resource compare to last patch, and maxed out my ryzen 3700x on a few cores, which is even higher usage than Battlefield 5.

same issue here. FX8350 and GTX 1080.

Please let us know if you are still experiencing this issue. We rolled out potential fixes across all platforms.
