Flats 2 talks about Balence (surprisingly educational)

Honestly I have similar opinions.

The balence team really keeps messing up… and I don’t think they care.

Just the numbers between patches show that.

Else we wouldn’t be in this casual one shot meta.

I legit don’t know how people who played OW1 during its entire tenure expected OW2 to be any better from a balance perspective. Like, yeah it’d have been nice, but this is the game we either choose to let torture us or move tf on from. They proved they didn’t understand balance with Mercy 2.0, after that there should never have been a moment of faith to be had again.

Guys like Flats pushed for years for high skill heroes, faster gameplay, and for low skill heroes to be eliminated from their high rank matches.

This is their Monkey’s Paw. They got what they wanted, as H.L. Mencken would say, and they got it good and hard. He should be happy.

…It’s not like that at all right now though.

Actually the opposite.

One Shooting while hiding behind corners and stuff.

Overwatch did indeed has lost the art of it all.

I truly don’t care what Top 500s think about the game or whether they find it balanced. They could all quit and it wouldn’t affect my game at all, nor would it touch Blizzard’s bottom line.

As a streamer, sure, Flats’ approval has some value to Blizzard. He has 323k followers. But I’m sure only a fraction of that are paying customers who would quit if Flats did. What happens if all the high ELO streamers abandon the game? Would a substantial number of players get discouraged and stop spending money? I’m not so sure. There are some wildly successful games that aren’t that big on Twitch. Fortnite’s numbers are similar to OW2. Blizzard’s top priority is for the silent whales to keep playing the game.

I’m going to need to see some numbers on that claim

Not surprised by the balance changes, among other issues. Just disappointed.

But Blizzard is synonymous with disappointment now. I think it’s their only core value now. Sigh.

Okay, I hope you manage to find them.

This guy is streamer who makes money from attention. He will say exactly what you want to hear.

I remember when we used to compare abilities by numbers back in OW1.

But now it doesn’t matter what the abilities are today because Blizz could make Reinhardt charge instantly across the map by tomorrow (really next season).

They need to focus on Actually balancing not this other stuffWill type more later)

doomfist buffs were too much, man just needed his guard buffed.

tracer range should be reduced a little.

Revert genji nerf then remove his M2 spam.

Sojourn can’t headshot railgun.

junkrat nades slightly smaller hit detection.

reduce echo stickies to 3 or 4.

cassidy sticky nade from 131-100.

remove orisa jav, bring back orb.

finally fix ashe hit detection and reduce her head hitbox from a blimp, to a normal head.

Moira dmg orb dissipate upon hitting a target

Im still lost as to why the increased his primarys hitbox from .20 to .25

It was fine as is, and really didnt need any changes imo

A change I would like to see is rollers having reduced damage so hes not so strong in lpwer ranks, while also still rewarding hogh ranked Junks for being able to bit consistent directs.

At this point I’m not even mad about them not being able to get their **** together. It’s hard to get disappointed when you expect nothing but mismanagement on their end.

My only hope is that Microsoft fires half the team when they take over and hire real professionals with experience in competitive online gaming.

This ain’t gonna cut it.

Are you talking about that measly 70K viewers? That’s pathetic even for a week of enabled drops during a new season. Bro, 2018 OW twitch numbers were higher than this two month old sequel’s. Enjoy your Paladins tier game.

I could be wrong but isn’t Hero Specific Winrate kinda easy to manipulate in OW and always has been?
Like if I remember how it works correctly, it attributes a win or loss respectively to the hero you were playing at the end of the match and that hero alone.
So I could, theoretically, pull a 100% WR on any hero so long as I switch from them if it’s clear I’m about to lose.

Like I last second go Lucio to try to touch and still lose, even though I spent 95% of the match playing not Lucio my Lucio WR is the only one that takes a negative hit since he’s who I was playing at match close.

And the dev team would be looking at that poor Lucio WR in isolation and could decide he’s underperforming if those last second swaps to him to stall, quick touch w/e, were a substantial part of his Pick Rate.
Lucio isn’t likely to be in that boat, unless they gut him, Blizz do not get ideas please, but unless I’m mistaken that’s how the team is parsing their balance decisions.
Isolated, unmirrored WRs only, and if I’m right about how the game calculates those WRs it’s not reliable data.

I for sure know I’m not some Torb God, but I’m sporting a 100% WR on him, so I think I’m right on how this all works at least as far as WR calculation.

Nobody expected, even with that in mind people has been dissapointed. That proves how absolutely a flop this has been.

All those dps nerfs but no adjustment to support leads to over saturation of sustain, which will lead to support needs, which renews the cycle…

I never had a problem with streamers before, but they’re becoming insufferable with all this whining. I don’t know how anyone can watch them. The devs took the game in the direction most of them wanted it to be in, Sojourn is exactly the type of hero that should be meta, yet somehow this is the worst it’s ever been. Every meta is always the worst and they keep living under this delusion that Overwatch is ever going to be a game where every hero can get good value based on the individual. That’s never happening. Doesn’t matter who you get to balance the game.

Early OW had bad balance issues. Later OW was much more tolerable. Overwatch kept going after goatz, despite popular opinion.
