I am going to be blunt here. Ok so your post just shows you how out of touch you are with the game. You last played in 2017. dude thta was like what season 4 or 5? You haven’t played in five freaking years and you are shocked that you are in bronze and struggling to get out. You have been gone so long you have no way of knowing just how much skill creep has become an issue in this game.
You are probably used to playing back in a time when genjis could sit on top of bastions throwing stars and no one would be the wiser. You know like in that video that was famous on youtube.
Dude that was a LONG time ago in a galaxy far far away. High bronze right now is just washed up gold players and plat smurfs and has been for about 2 years now.
I am not flaming I am simply telling you that you are totally out of date with the state of the ladder. Now if you are good at fps games you will climb out of bronze. Just don’t think you can play blindfolded in bronze like you were able to back in 2017 (so could I by the way) The skill floor has been breached by most players of competitive now. New players are going to get absolutely curbstomped and destroyed in a game that is old as dirt.
Ana was tied with MErcy for most picked support in bronze at the end of overwatch 1’s life. So yes a high skill floor hero was pretty much in a dead heat with arguably the lowest skill floor hero in a bottom tier bracket.
5-6 years is an eternity in a video game. You take any low gold player from the end of overwatch 1’s life put em in a time machine back 2 years they are EASILY low diamond and I mean easily.

To be fair I was only 2900 which is high Plat and I placed Bronze 5
Just played a game as support and went from Bronze 5 to Bronze 1 so something has definitely changed!

I honestly wonder how many people have tried OW2 for the first time, realised they are less skilled than the lowest possible rank in the game and just stopped playing.

It wasn’t any different in OW1. Start at Gold. Lose every game, because while you can aim, you don’t know the meta on when to use your abilities. Drop to Bronze and start the Grind. Issue now is everyone and their dog is in Bronze 5.

Competitive
- Many players were ranked too low during the first week of Overwatch 2, so we are implementing a boost as players continue to play games for those affected by this issue.
- Players who were ranked too low could have the feeling of being stuck in this rank. Moving forward, players should be able to climb the ranks in their first rank update assuming they’re supposed to be higher based on their performance.
- Players who haven’t ranked will not experience this issue after this patch.
For anyone who wanted to know if there was a bug preventing rank up
Does anyone know, why I got Bronze 6? It’s special rank just for me? https //ibb co/7jYLGg3

thats bronze 5 go see a eye doctor
A bunch of players who where top 500 got bronze 5 like they deserved when they stopped playing overwatch and only placed at end season to only play once a week
3 wining placements and still on Bronce V, idk if it’s a bug or I’m too bad for this game so I’m dropping play competitive matches.
Dude I have trifocals and reading glasses. I use a 55" TV as a monitor and even with all that that lil 5 is too small.
The stat squish was a big slap in the face to OW1 players and did nothing for OW2. No one benefited from it.
Blizzard tried to work out 1500 divided by 5, many meetings were had, in the end it had to be this way.

Sorry to necro. You can still rejoin. Sometimes it doesn’t let me but i just relaunch my game and it pops up ffor me to rejoin
Hi fellow OW players. I have been stuck in Bronze 3 the last 5 sets of 7 wins (35 wins). I’ve been playing for a week now, without any progress and it’s getting a little frustrating. Everyone is talking about being stuck in Bronze 5 because of the steep SR… but what about being stuck in Bronze 3 for so long? Do I have to have 7 consecutive wins, with no losses at all?
Hey Fho, nice work on the study haha, looks like you get a lot of feedback and attention on your posts so if you post another one you should pass on the fact that your deaths per match play a huge role for ranking up.
Let me explain a little.
My first comp this season was dps role que - first placement - B5
moved on to tank role que - first placement B4
moved on to open que(mostly dps) - first placement - B5
Keeping in mind 60% winrate - as dps and tank I was performing really well, sometimes my elims were almost double the next highest person in the match, so I was thinking “im clearly out performing most people, but im not ranking up?” I did about 8 rounds of open que and about 4 round on dps role que. But I was not ranking up, think the highest I got was B3.
I then read on the forums to keep your deaths very low, so I went back on and decided to do another 7 on my B5 dps role que, this time keeping in mind to die as little as possible. My stats went down as i was playing more safely, was no longer top of the board as i was more concerned about staying. But, after my 7 wins of playing like this (7W - 5L), boom, S4. Did another 7 with same mindset and now S2. I think my highest death count was 4 and lowest 0.
I wasnt constantly dying but i wouldnt be bothered about dying as sometimes I’d try hold objective a few seconds longer or hold them off a bit longer until my team arrives etc so i think before this i was averaging about 10-12 deaths per match.
So it seems that if you do really well in your stats but rack up quite a few deaths its not considered a good performance. Anyway just thought i’d share that with everyone haha might just be my broken account but it seems to have worked.

Then why did they also take away the find a group function? That means new players coming in are now trapped in solo queue bronze hell just because they aren’t coming in with a preset team.
Funnily enough, if you read a lot of the threads here, a lot of new players have posted that they placed in Gold. A lot of newbies it seems didn’t get started in bronze hell at least, even if they’re possibly deranked to there. It explains why I keep seeing people in Silver and Gold who have no idea about basic game mechanics.
My theory:
Blizz bets that newbies are more likely to be whales and more likely to spend money vs veterans who remember the old days and/or already have all the old skins etc.
So they place newbies higher and make the games happen faster by increasing queue speed by sacrificing reasonable matchmaking.
Which also explains why they don’t want a LFG - this would make it harder for the newbie whales by increasing queue times, since we’d no longer be there filling in games. And it would be easier for us to move on.
Then again, the last time I played with a group of 4, we apparently had too many wins and so the server dumped us from the game as a group. It was that server DC where it says “X has left the game” but like 5 times. I got back in immediately, 2 others got back in after a minute and the last guy, our tank, encountered that thing where it never let him rejoin, but he was in chat with us. It didn’t even suspend him, but of course we still lost the game that we’d otherwise been dominating.
Yay, forced 50% win rate!

Pretty sure this is how it works in Heroes of the Storm also because Bronze 5 is a similar situation there.
So you say, if I was around 8-900 SR in OW1, I practically start from 0 SR now, and need to climb to 1100 to reach the pitiful B4? This is extremely disheartening, even for a seasoned veteran like me. Why can’t they at least add Iron division like League of Legends did? At least you can see some progress there, (and you still haven’t touched below 500 SR range i guess).
The fact that I need to climb more to reach B4 than it will take to reach G5 from there is just laughable.
