Final goodbyes:

I think I’m at a point where I will never come back. I will not be missed, some will hate this, and others simply won’t care. But that still wouldn’t stop me from posting what are some of the biggest problems are for Overwatch.

I would be damned if somebody was upset at my departure, but it remains to be of very little matter. Even if I’m a tank main. ESPECIALLY if I’m a tank main. But here are some of my concerns before this will be my final post.

The Community –
I’ve dealt with communities like this hundreds of times, but at least you’re still not as toxic as League of Legends. Or Heroes of the Storm. There is some areas of light, not difficult to find, but there are more areas of madness than there is moments of kindness.

Overwatch’s Future –
I would say that this game is heading in the same direction as Heroes of the Storm. Overwatch 2 will be given a skeleton crew. Microtransactions will become a bigger thing, if not the battle pass is not an example enough. Most skin must be acquired randomly through a loot box. Hopefully Microsoft could improve it, once the whole company transit has been made.

Queue times –
Honestly this goes without saying that I could pick up a game anywhere else and actually play it. Not wait for minutes on end for one QP match only then to suffer a steamroll. That is not how a game is supposed to operate.

The tank shortage –
… Will be even worse because we’re going into 5v5 now, causing a chain reaction to longer queue times.

The OW Battle Pass –
I would rather buy one for Halo Infinite. You can always go back to the previous one, without worrying to complete it. Yes its a grind, but you get to view the rewards should you even want to grind in the first place.

The Original Overwatch –
Will be replaced. Unless players are given the ability to create custom servers, which I’m sure they will be, the original will cease to exist. I remember the days where Torbjorn was once my main, and he was given the ability to give his teammates additional armor by collecting scrap from his fallen enemies. Support mains loved this.

Also, fun fact. For those of you new to Overwatch, Symmetra once was a support as well. She would give shielding to her teammates. Symmetra ended up with three or more reworks, with Mercy getting a total of eleven nerfs when resurrection was too strong.
Kinda a funny thing that despite the nerfs, Mercy is still played A LOT in comps.

Anyway, I’m done ranting. I’m sure there are so many other issues to address, such as forced 2-2-2, but I’m also posting on a forum that doesn’t get too much activity as it once did. I can’t fathom how many people ended up quitting this game. On a final note, while this is my final thread, it perhaps won’t be my final post. However the chances of me posting on this forum is akin to getting a royal flush twice at a casino.

In case you’re wondering, its about 1 to 64,000 of a chance. Now multiply the denominator by two and there you go. Later.

Lots of us have done this in the past, (up and leave) when Blizzard didn’t make good decisions , that they thought were going to be profitable ventures.

This happened in Cata, MoP and especially in Warlords.

Me, I do see this exodus is going to happen. Since they are drastically changing the game. I see a dark mirror before me, that reflects a past that they are trying to shine again into the present and call this a “future” for the game. Sure, it might be a future, but it isn’t going to be what they project it to be. Or maybe they do want it to fall out. IDK.

I do not think Activision or Blizzard has ever once learned a lesson that when they drastically change something. People REVOLT and they leave.

It has always been the thing from the company to call it “content” and instead remove it completely from the game or change it.

We should be asking what has happened to PARIS and HORIZON. Those two maps are pulled from rotation. We dont know if they are going to change it or not. I think the maps COULD be salvaged, but they would require a major change to them. Even TOA needs fixing.

Been here done that. I’ve leaved because i was sick and tired of this place and have had a surprise for OW2’s launch here but i’ve ultimately chosen not to make it and came back venting here about this new greedy monetization scheme they have now because there is no other place where anyone can.

They were lazy. They’ve said they will try yet they didn’t. They’ve pulled content from a starving game instead. Horizon was more likeable than Volskaya. I can go further and say HLC and Havana are overhated and King’s Row is heavily overrated. But many people only hate something because they want to.

Wouldnt the odds of it happening back to back mean you square the denominator? Also i love rein in ow2 im so excited to play it again what did ya mean about tank times?

No, squaring a number is taking a number and multiplying it by itself.

Multiplying it by two is doubling the value.

You think queue times will be a problem but don’t think that the Battle Pass incentives will be used to address that problem?

Goodbye brother

The millions of tanks replacing you will hold a vigil in your honour.

I know that but to get the 1 in 64,000 TWICE in a row, you dont just double the 64k you square it.

Use smaller numbers to comprehend the math

If you had a 1 in 10 chance, aka 10 percent, the odds of hitting the 1 in 10 BACK TO BACK would be 1 in 100 aka 1%. 1/10 x 1/10 is 100, your 1 in 10 becomes 1 in 100. So ur 1 in 64000 hitting back to back is neary impossible it would be 1 /(64000squared)

I sport an incredibly parallel sentiment.

I want to love this game again, but every decision being made in regards to OW2 is pushing me further away.

That said, OW1 has been in a near unplayable state for months on end. Last time I can recall it being “good” was Fall of 2020- two years ago, following the Rein (85dmg per swing) and D.Va buffs.

I thought I was done with this franchise for good at the start of the summer. I had uninstalled and didn’t as much as login for the past 14 weeks. This weekend I reinstalled and played a bit of AI. It was charming and like seeing an old friend. I think over the course of about 3hrs this weekend I queued Rein in every match but 4, all of them had other players on Rein and I played Zarya twice and Lucio twice instead.

I’d recommend enjoying the final week of OW1 before writing off this franchise. Just go play the gamemodes and heroes you like the most and ignore everything else, knowing that this game will never be the same again.

Aaaaannnnddddd it won’t hurt if folks like you and I are queuing the final days of OW1, then quit for the start of OW2. Hurting their player count and wallets is the only way this franchise will change.

I’ll give the 1st season a chance but after everything’s that’s come out about the game it’ll make or break it for me. I’m a tank/support flex player and I really didn’t enjoy solo tanking. Mix in long queues and they killed the role for me. Supports felt less fun but still playable so I’m hoping kiriko reignites somethings.

Competitive being P2W now made me lose all interest with that mode too so guess I’m stuck with quick play

If that would happen then tank q would be longer than dps one was in OW1.

1st point. Don’t care about the prior points.
You need Revenue • Point blank. Plain & Simple.

2nd point.
You need Players • F2P allows everyone to play the game & see if they want to continue playing.

3rd point
You are Replaceable! • The game doesn’t revolve around Tank / DPS / Supports nor whom is coming & going.

4th point
Then go PAY some other game to continue to exist instead • Adios!

5th point
Thank God. • The notion that I am playing FFXI a full 20 years later after launch and WoW still exists tells me that OW need NOT cease to exist.

Dont let the Door hit you…… never mind. Just have fun someplace else.

You can always quit OW but stay on the forums. I haven’t played the game in years.
