Anyone else think dps doom is just outright superior in design and is infinitely more fun to play (even when you’re getting melted by hitscans 90% of the time).
In my eyes ow1 slam and uppercut are so much more fun to use than ow2 slam and powerblock.
I find DPS doom more fun BUT
Tank doomfist is also incredibly fun
What part of tank doom do you find fun?
I can’t speak for all doom mains but if you offered them a slightly buffed ow1 doom over the reworked tank doom I reckon a very large majority would pick dps.
It’s all in the seismic+punch cancel for me
I really love being able to yeet myself across the map on a low cooldown, and I always played Doomfist more as a Tank in OW1 anyway so I don’t mind the transition that much
I’m convinced he only got changed because 90% of the player base have ADHD. Kept getting killed by him, because they couldn’t keep their focus for more than 3 seconds.
Doubt that
I have ADHD and have no problem keeping track of him
He’s far more consistent, has better mobility and there is less CC so i prefer Tankfist
But i sure enjoy doing 125 slams with rollout
They’re both fun… BUT
DPS Doomfist is satisfying to use because he can kill as fast as he would in cinematics, lore etc. He feels impactful, powerful like a super charged huge gaunlet punch should. Zen kick feels more impactful than no charge Doom punch now. THIS trailer is why Doomfist became my main.
Jump into the fight, get one kill, combo into another, reposition another kill, ult, repeat etc.
This highlight will be IMPOSSIBLE once Tank Doomfist goes live:
Don’t confuse him being better overall as a tank as fun, dps doom is incredibly bad and was probably in need of a few buffs in ow1 at higher ranks that could have made his gameplay much more fun.
At first I was like hey I’m not getting melted now so that’s cool but then after a few hours of tank fist I realised he’s basically just hyper survivable whilst doing tickle damage without team follow up.
I don’t struggle to get kills with primary fire so it’s not really an issue for me
It’s subjective anyway, some will prefer DPS Doom, some will prefer Tank Doom
It’s upsetting because they haven’t stuck to the doomfist fighter style combo hero
Traded uppercut for a boring low mobility block.
One thing i don’t like with block is the fact it completely slows you down
I would like to get normal speed while blocking
Then we are rarities. Guess everyone else needs their medicine lol.
DPS Doom is more fun and more challenging to play as well, he fits the assassin playstyle much better than the tank one, at least in my opinion. Power block feels incredibly dull to me, instead of that, they literally could have made Rocket Punch give like for example 50% DR + the empowerment during the charge up for example, and kept his kit the same (with damage number changes for example: something like 50+50 and 50+100 for empowered punch), also remove multi target punch too. Lastly just lower the max slam damage to 75 or 100.
Blizzard killed what made the character fun to play, his new mobility is super easy to pull off, and giving him cancels for E just made him easier to play and more forgiving as well, since they removed all the risk/reward for his Slam, there is no reason to do big slams anymore, but there is also little to no risk if you do a mistake, which I dislike.
And even if they kept him as DPS they could have removed all CC on Slam/Uppercut, and made his hand cannon’s projectile either faster or hitscan, so he wouldn’t need those CCs. Rocket Punch could get it’s damage lowered as well and he was good to stay as DPS I feel like (maybe a 150 or 200 max damage for a fully charged punch).
Dps doom playstyle was rolling out in places heroes shouldn’t even be allowed, completely masking their rollout from enemy los until he drops down on you like batman, kills a support and runs away. This has nothing to do with players not paying attention, dps doom is and always has been very poor design. Tank doom actually fits in the game.
i agree with you, it should have been mei that went to the tank role imo. i would play tank a ton more then
Block/parry/shield mechanic is pretty core to a fighting game. I’d argue he’s legitimately more like a fighting game character cause you combo abilities for extreme mobility by momentum shifting in 2.
Obviously dps Doom is better and more engaging, but they did alright with the rework, he seems vaguely playable. It could have been so much worse.
It was manageable. Slam no longer prevented action lock, but I play Zen. Not like it was pharah.
