Rez on cooldown will forever be broken. She needs it on a resource meter like Torbās scrap
Try 9th Mega-Thread, technically 10th since after 10,000 posts on the 8th they started a 9th but merged it with the 8th then continued that till 19,884 posts (just to keep everyone straight on things).

I really wish they would bring back Mass Rez with a proper āEā ability (ĀæValkyrie?), because even the Pros said, back when āINGā asked that loaded question about removing 1 hero from Overwatch, that āAs an ability, Rez cannot be balanced.āā¦
At least not without SEVERELY restricting it, then it is āBalancedā but mostly because of the restrictions not used.
I have so many GD things I wanna talk about, but cannot find a way to connect them in a decent flowing manner. So forgive me but Iām just going to post this text dump with everything I want to say.

Mercy is viable. Sheās effective, and synergizes well with Dive. Sheās consistent with healing and damage boosting; and her mobility is one of the best for healers (Next to Lucio, and nearly unmatched to vertical mobility)
Mercyās pick rates are high. Her win rates are high.
But sheās still broken because of those two facts. The nerfs that were given to her was so she could drop from āmust pickā status.
And she isā¦.kindaā¦.
Sheās now āitās probably the wisest choiceā pick.
The dev team said they wanted to wait till the dust settles and see if her pick rates decline. They have somewhat, but if you watch OWL, sheās nearly in every match.

The proposed rework was to give Mercy a powerful game changing ult that didnāt need her teammates dying to have it be effective. However, after Valk was introduced it had to be toned down; three separate times.
Not because Valk itself was powerful, but her now Cool Down Rez was too powerful in this ult. It clearly showed the power of what Tempo Rezzing can accomplish.
I was hoping after the second change Blizzard would have realized that maybe, juuuuuuuust maybe Rez as an ability might be a bit broken.
Because it is.
Granted, yes, single rez target is a much more fitting rez mechanic for this game. I have mentioned other FPS that have resurrect-like mechanics and they work just fine. So why is it in OW that it feels so unbalanced?
Several reasons;
The teams are too small. Dirty Bomb is probably the best example to compare this with since it have BOTH a multi-rez and a single target rez in the game. But with the sizes of the teams it makes it so itās not unbalanced.
The matches are too short. OW matches are incredibly short and because of that bringing back a downed ally can really affect the outcome because there isnāt enough time to react to it to make a turn around.
Mercy is the only one with this ability. As I mentioned in point 1, Dirty Bomb has both types of rezzes. Single Target with the Revive Gun, and Bionic Pods for the multi-rez. No other hero has this ability. (They closest we get is Symm with her TP-which is now going to be an ability for her, so maybe this can help with toning Mercyās necessity even more)

A rework may be the only way to salvage Mercy. Blizz has gone on record saying that reviving her downed teammates is a core part of her play-style. It seems that are adamant in not removing rez from Mercy.
I know the idea of a chargable rez has been brought up and I think it is a good idea. Having it on E is too powerful-no other support has that ability. The only only who can even compare is Ann and thatās because she can shut down a Zen ult with a well timed gnade.
However, this could add an extra bit of difficulty to Mercy that could remove her from her one star status. But it might be for the best. Rez is too powerful for a cool down, and multi-rez is sadly not that balanced for a game with teams this small. It was not OP before the rework, but it was not balanced for how OW handled.
As for her ult, hard to say what it should do without it overlapping the other supports. She may need something completely new.
BUT FIRST:
A Mercy rework would need to be one of the last things on Blizzards current check list and game wise, sheās viable and fits in fine with how the game is now.
There are a number of things Blizzard needs to do before even considering a 3rd rework (and yes a 3rd rework is possible, look at Symm)
Finish the other proposed reworks;
Hanzo
Symm
Torb

See how the changes to Genji and Lucio affect the game
See how the above characters (including Genji and Lucio) will work in Comp, along with Briggitte
Fixing bugs that have been plaguing Reinhardt -Doomfist -Sombra
Keep the release of new Heroes steady
Dwindling the effectiveness of Dive (which I honestly think they really arenāt trying all that hard but thatās meā¦.)
See if there are any other heroes that might need to be looked (Ana, McCree Bastion)
After all that, then Mercy should get another look. Heck she could be looked at before all that, but thatās only if Briggitte and Symm change up things (Brig with her being made to be anti-dive and as state Symm with her TP now as an ability)-and that can cause her picks and win to drop.
Would it be nice to hear from the devs where Mercy currently stands with them? Yes it would, but I donāt think they even know.
They almost banked on the idea that her picks and wins were going to already drop with the last nerf, but instead it didnāt seem to really affect either of them. So they could be at a point of not knowing where to even go with Mercy.

I canāt speak for balance, but one thing that would make Valkyrie a lot more fun to use IMO would be if Guardian Angel applied some positive effect on its target if Mercy flew close enough to them.
The effect could something like instant healing and/or curing negative status. Imagine swooping in during Valkyrie to save vulnerable allies through enemy fire! It would deepen risk/reward during Valkyrie too.
An not very fun to play.
Very FUN to play against because her Rez is a suicide button 9 chances out of 10, or her teammate dies in a safe area and she is HIDING. Wasnāt the rework supposed to get rid of Mercy hiding?
The rework was a totally failure since the primary purpose was make her more enjoyable and engaging to play. Well, now she could be many things (boring, passive af) but definitely no engaging and enjoyable to play. Did I mentioned that you have to ride to rez now? Crazy right? Since that was another reason to make the rework. Please Blizzard think about could be done with Mercy to make her become more than a flying healbot and to be fun again. I just love the character so much and her current gameplay state makes me so sad.
Or you could learn to use it correctly.
Fun is subjective, the loudest opinion is not allways the correct one.
Like all those Streamers complaining LOUDLY to get rid of Mass Rez because it was āUnfunā to play against?
I think is more how unviable the ability is right now.
When ability is viable if a) enemies are dead or b) completely clueless and ignore Mercy, itās very bad.
And, once again: mass resurrect was unfun for enemy team, while single target resurrect is unfun for all players involved: one being resurrected, that player who made kill, and Mercy performing resurrect.
If you still havenāt understood why the ability was changed iām not going to explain it to you.
I see it being used to great effect in GM how is it unviable?
Great effect? Stats show opposite: less Mercy uses resurrect, less she dies and more chances of remaining 4 teammates to live, until killed ally returns from spawn.

I was thinking the other day. Isnāt what happened/whatās happening to Mercy kind of like what happened to Ana with her utimate nerf or am I off?
I donāt know, a lot of people say she was picked due to the powerful combos she could pull off, especially with Reaper. That got nerfed, mobility came in and she just went further down. The sole difference is, Mercy got reworked and rose to must pick because she was just so broken.
Funnily enough, Mercy took Anaās place. And now sheās here and Moira is preferred by a lot of Mercy players.
Not sure where Iām going with this exactly, but it was interesting to me at least.
Moira and mercy donāt really aim to achieve the same thing.
