False Bans For Hacking

I’d actually love to know why you got banned, pretty sure it’s not for using a title in any lobby.

I’m more curious about which cheats you used, but only a little. Mostly I’m wondering why you think appealing on the forum for a ban you most likely earned is the play.

ive seen this once personally, and a few times online. widows get some dirty stuff done to them. everyone reports them because they are annoying. what happens when you get 5-10 reports? instant permaban. no investigation, nothing, youre just done. all that work u put in learning a hard character? all your skins? gone

and stainless, bro just shut up at this point. you obviously dont even know how the banning system works. its entirely report based. They dont even investigate it. the report quota is like 5-10 based on how many games you get reported in consecutively. you just look stupid.

Lmao, if people got banned just because they get a bunch of false reports from a game then Flats would be 100% gone. More than half of the people on here hate the guy, they’d target him out of spite.

I don’t know how the banning system works, no, but I know how lying and cheating works. If you got banned, you probably earned it. I’ll never say definitely, but probably.

Yup.
People who played characters like torb, symmetra, or widow, were reported simply for plying their characters well.

Streamers used to tell people to mass report players. If the system wasn’t quantity> quality, then those players wouldn’t have gotten banned.

I see at least a post like yours every 2 weeks. Yes since this season there has been a increase in players getting false bans and it’s not really known why that’s the case since Blizzard themselves don’t tell you why you get banned, even when they unban you they don’t tell it seems.

You will probably have issues contacting support since you usually will get an automated mail some seconds after you send a ticket to them. If that’s the case I recommend to keep on answering the ticket since the last person I talked with said that their friend did so and I believe they were finally able to talk with a human. But don’t quote me on that.

Previously, multiple seasons ago people got falsely banned when using the official mouse&keyboard software called HyperXNEGENUITY. For what I recall there were about 100 players in a discord server with the same issue and all of them came from this forum. It went pretty fast for them to get unbanned (it took 1 week). However the latest person on the forum that mentioned about bans that I recall said that their friend finally got unbanned after multiple weeks.

When it comes to the HyperXNEGENUITY issue, some of the people used alt accounts to be able to contact Blizzard and from there they could explain how to replicate the ban and the software triggering it. The HyperXNEGUINTY ban affected everyone who had the latest version of the program at that time so there were probably thousands of people being affected.

This season some have suggested that some of the cheating bans could be due to people reporting you, I’m unsure if that’s the case but I kinda doubt it. I believe the type of bans triggered by the automated system are ones correlated to softwares being turned on in the background.

When you contact support, it could perhaps be helpful to tell them which softwares you have turned on in the background while launching or playing OW2 since that information probably could help them.

Do you have any programs on in the background while playing the game? Have you updated any software recently? Have you played on a LAN tournament or at another place than you usually play?

Youd think they would just say “oh hey, 5 consecutive reports. lets just watch 5 minutes of one of those games” but no. they dont. they just ban you. to rub salt in the wound, they lie about it too. if you arent familiar with the email:

Account Action: Account Closure - Overwatch Account
Offense: Unauthorized Cheat Programs (“hacks”)

Recent activity on this account shows the use of an unauthorized cheat program, also known as a “hack”, which harms the intended player experience.

The account holder is responsible for all activity on the account. We issue suspensions and closures to protect our players and our service in accordance with our Blizzard EULA: https://blizzard.com/company/legal/eula.html.

We don’t take this decision lightly. Our team issued this closure after a careful review of relevant evidence. Our support staff will not overturn these closures and may not respond to appeals. For more information, see our article: Blizzard Support - Appealing a Silence, Suspension, or Ban

If I wasnt going through this right now, Id say thats solid and they are doing their jobs. I now can say with 100% confidence, that email is complete horsecrap. they didnt even look at my profile. if they did, i wouldnt have been banned. so why lie about it? why not just say “you got autobanned, go submit a ticket if this was a mistake?” youre going to have a crap system AND lie about it too?

It’s not that easy. There have been an increase of false bans lately and people even post if and when they get unbanned. It’s an automated system (not a human) that bans players in those cases. It has happened that a normal software that shouldn’t trigger a ban have done it before in OW2 so it’s nothing new. I don’t believe most people who hack will even ask for tips since when a human reviews a ban they probably could tell if the person used a cheat or not I would believe. Since people get unbanned.

Spotify, Discord, Opera GX (web browser), steam, and battlenet. I feel like if any of these were suspect wed see a much larger amount of people coming in here for this. as for updates, I believe i got a windows update like a week ago and an nvidia gforce update around the same time.

I did report it as a bug though with all that included and also included it in both of the tickets I have had to submit now

That’s the softwares I use and it doesn’t trigger a ban for me. Any other softwares you know of?

You don’t have any softwares for your mouses, keyboards or headset?

Edit: I don’t use Opera GX

Aside from like, hard background processes like nvida and all the OS stuff? no

You can’t see any softwares in the task manager that’s turned on by default when you turn on your PC? Geforce are not a problem.

I have a long list for that. do you think a headset could cause it if the headset doesnt have accompanying softwtware? i was using an astro A40 with a mixamp for volume control

brb with task manager

so riot client runs in the background despite not being open. microsoft edge, microsoft sharepoint, LGhub, windows explorer, and xbox services are the only other things running in the background that arent vital to the computer staying on. lots of alienware processes running

Unfortunately in here you are deemed guilty until proven innocent.

The majority of those who get caught (legit) cheating/hacking simply go quietly about their day and make a new account without drawing attention from their peers, others want to stir up drama in the community by either believing that cheating/hacking isn’t all that wrong or simply want to play the victim.

I believe that there are some people who fall through the cracks though, and get targeted by others for many different reasons.

I have been called out for “cheating” before by an enemy Reaper, who thought he was being sneaky while loudly clomping up the hallway, kept getting headshotted by me. It was Kings Row and I was up top above the first control point and he kept going the same route (like 3 times), I had my sonic arrow on the wall where he was coming from and as soon as he’d poke his head from around the corner I’d headshot him.

He began to call me out in chat telling everyone to report me for hacking and it honestly worried me that if he were with 4 of his friends they could all do so and if I had gotten 5 reports would that affect any decisions?

I wasn’t cheating and while I can’t remember the exact number for my accuracy that game, I do remember it wasn’t very flattering lol. Luckily he wasn’t in a group, or if he was at least his friends were honest because they went off on him for being an idiot by always doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results (insanity).

I always worry about fake reports though, usually I take it as a compliment that my gameplay is misconstrued as cheating or hacking, but sometimes I wonder if people are so petty that they just gang up and mass report that a false ban will go through.

And for clarification I do not think I am a great player, most games I’m just ‘alright’ (other games I’m either total trash or actually popping off).

I do wish that for those who do get banned (whether well deserved or not) got some sort of proof rather than just some cookie cutter response. I know that if it did ever happen to me that I’d want to know exactly what was deemed against ToS and required a ban. But then again that requires resources that Blizzard doesn’t want to invest in because the majority of those people who do get in trouble know what they’ve done.

I hope that if you didn’t cheat/hack that this gets resolved and you can continue playing, but if you did, then I hope you bought a lot of cosmetics in the shop and lost all of that money. (hoping for the former )

I’m unsure about the mixamp but yeah it could be good to mention to the support. You have to probably mention the whole list of programs aswell to the support.

In the “task manager” go to “Autostart” and from there you will see a list of programs. What’s important are the ones that says under status “Activated” since those are the programs that’s turned on while you turn on your PC.

ya the only things on that are the same ones i mentioned, minus a the large majority of the list. all well known software too. I think if any of this caused it wed see a lot more than a few cases once in a while

Could you tell the ones that were left? HyperXNEGUITY also triggered bans which is a software from a popular company.

the only ones that i couldnt inform you as to what they are are all disabled.
rtkauduservice64
alienware osd service
killer intelligence system
