Woke up to this: Halloween Terror: From the desk of the Lord of Adlersbrunn
So Devs to seem to be putting “extra” amount of hype into this event.
(aka advertising overdrive)
But I am not excited or hyped for this event one bit.
Because I am expecting for them to be Overcharging for the new Halloween skins.
Which is the main thing players want out of these events.
If you can’t earn the skins… then it’s nothing to hype about.
Lets hype it up more by placing bets if its the same recycled event we had for 5 years now lol.
The main thing I want is for the event to be fun.
So just to be clear, the ONLY reason you play Overwatch is for cosmetics? The long awaited sequel to one of the most popular and well loved PvE event modes means nothing? Okay, got it.
how can people be hyped anymore knowing the main content of it is locked behind an awful progression and money payouts? it won’t be the same as it was, ever

Aka kinda just view OW into OW2
As a casino that just changed from using poker tables to roulette tables.
The main reason for the events was farming new skins.

Cosmetics is the end game of many games.
There’s better shooters. Then OW 1.1
I agree with no hype over no earnable skins. in ow1 we played the hell out of events to try to get our favorite skins. sure the extra game modes were a nice fun bonus but the skins was the real incentive to play the game harder than usual. but now the event lasts only one week and we have to pay to get stuff. this is a downgrade in every sense of the word. sure the new Pve mode is going to be fun I bet. However, thats not enough considering what we had. its going to feel so bad next week when it drops 
Plus OW2 weapon charms are really starting to bug me.
(Because it’s just more junk to prevent you getting what you want in the Battlepass.)
But thats a separate topic for another day in the future.
We don’t need to get because we have been told it is not.
To be fair though, kind of expecting at least 50% of it to be recycled myself.
People need motivation when a game gets stale. Any game after six years is gonna feel stale sometimes.
Spending money on a skin you can’t even see is not motivation to play.

Its weird to me that people play a first person game for skins and worry about them as much as they do. Im here for gameplay
I care more in a third person game like Fortnite but its still not a big motivator
Why would they add thousands of cosmetics to the game if they weren’t important and nobody cared about them?
Have to agree here. I hope you can grind some event currency and then buy some coold stuff with it or have some challenges. Because if its just the mode and nothing besides the BP XP… this will be fiasco and every future event will be tainted.

There’s a difference between cosmetics as a fun bonus item and cosmetics as the sole reason to play the game. Why the f would I care about Hog or Zen or Reaper event cosmetics if I play none of those heroes? I want the gameplay to be fun, the skins are bonus. If the gameplay is boring and I don’t want to play because of that, what difference does it make if I have those thousands of cosmetics?
