"Entering game" for a while and then "Lost connection to game server"

I’m currently in the SEA area, connecting to the Americas option.
Recently, the “Lost connection to game server” screen comes up increasingly more frequently. It takes a few log in tries for me to get into the menu.
However, in the last two days, the error ALWAYS comes up for me. I cannot get pass the loading screen of Overwatch and get into the game anymore. It’s an endless loop of Log In -> Entering game -> Lost connection to game server -> Repeat
I don’t know what changed to make me not able to connect to the server anymore.

You may be affected by a long-term problem where undersea cable connections is resulting in lost connections or extremely high latency. See this sticky post for details:

A week ago I was still able to get into the game, albeit with the “Lost connection” message coming up and I need to re-enter log in credentials inside the game about 1-3 times. In the last 3-4 days, it has completely shut me out.
The problem that you linked to seems to have persisted for almost a month. Is there a better chance that my connection issue is caused by something else more recent?

It can be that issue. It takes a VERY LONG TIME to repair a seacable. I commented on this in that thread here:

But it is stickied in the tech support forum as this is an ongoing issue for the region.

To find out, please post the results of a WinMTR test:

WinMTR instructions:

  1. Download WinMTR from http://winmtr.net/download-winmtr/ (Console players need a Windows Desktop Computer connected to the same network as their console to do this.)
  2. Unzip the WinMTR.zip file to the Desktop.
  3. Open the WinMTR folder and select the 32 or 64 bit version. Choose whichever one corresponds to your version of Windows.
  4. Run the WinMTR.exe
  5. Type the IP address you want to trace in the “Host” field. To get the correct IP you will actually need to open up the game and go Practice Vs AI or Quick Play and if you are on PC hit Ctrl+Shift+N and it will bring up the ingame network diagnostic graph, or go to Video > Options > Display Network Performance Graph if you are on any platform including Console. In the top left corner is the IP address you want to run WinMTR to.
    Network Graph
note When looking at the IP it will show up ingame as something like 12.34.56.78:12345. You will want to leave the last 5 digits and the colon at the end off and the IP you want to use is just the 12.34.56.78
  6. Once you notice the connection issue while playing, play for about 6 more minutes, minimize the game and click on “Stop”.
  7. Click on “Copy text to clipboard”, then return to this forum thread.
  8. Type two sets of four squiggly lines and then paste the contents of the WinMTR test between: ~~~~ Paste WinMTR Test Results Here ~~~~

If in the event you can’t even connect to Overwatch and get into any game mode at all, please use one of the following IP addresses based on your geographical region:

  • US West - 24.105.30.129
  • US Central - 24.105.62.129
  • Brazil - 54.207.107.12
  • Europe - 185.60.114.159
  • Europe - 185.60.112.157
  • Korea - 211.234.110.1
  • Taiwan - 203.66.81.98

I can’t get into the game so here’s the result running WinMTR with the Taiwan IP for about 5 mins:

I have same issue.
I’m currently located in India and I have decent internet connection with which i can stream 4K videos without problems.
I also tried troubleshooting and advanced troubleshooting problem but issue is still there

My friend has same ISP and he can login after 4-5 attempt but from last 2 days I can’t get in to the game.
Please suggest me the solution

Hello, I too had this exact same issue and I kept losing connection until today when I moved my game from my C: which is my 512 GB nvme SSD to my E: which is my 1 TB Hdd. Up until I had put the game in my c: i never got this issue except for once or twice when the root problem was our college firewall . Funnily, the game booted once or twice in ssd and i was able to play , it also booted when i tried connecting using my 4G mobile data so I don’t know how putting it in hdd has changed anything but there’s that .I also tried with different VPNs and still I wasn’t able to connect using my broadband though. Hopefully I helped someone
