I have yet to see a vapid, whiny “u cant do better >:,c” response on the forum that’s actually accurate or productive.
I could make a version of this concept on the Workshop, without any internal development tools (I already have made other “copy” abilities, inspired by Kirby in the past). Other similar threads on “why cant X hero do Y” have preceded (though likely not caused, in small numbers) Blizzard to fix what seem like oversights in the past.
The problem here is that you’re encouraging me to waste my time on a mode no one will play, lest I take the time to integrate Echo into a larger-scale, higher-effort custom mode with the Ultimate fix included.
What /I’m/ trying to do is make Blizzard’s own decision/investment seem like a better use of time/effort by offering the idea that we should further value consistency on when the Ultimate can be initiated. Like I said before, tools already exist that let the devs hot-swap ability cooldowns, disable abilities, etc etc, and you guys are just giving Blizzard a free pass because “coding hard” or “echo cant be echo xD” or “unavoidable infinite ult loop”, or some other reason I’ve already responded to to no avail because none of you learned how to read.
Consider what you would do in response to me actually making my own version of this before you issue a dare that will just waste my time. I’m willing to bet you haven’t bothered.
(also shoutouts to the other replies for making this place so toxic that the forum mods actually did their jobs around here)

The point of her ULT is to duplicate an enemy & charge a duped ULT. Not duplicate to build up another duplicate to build up another duplicate to build up another duplicate…

Would’ve been cool to see them give her something unique if she copied herself. Like Ana being able to nano herself in death match. She can’t do that anywhere else, so it’s a unique kind of experience.
“Copying…me?! 500% to my own abilities!” suddenly Echo goes into total mayhem mode.

Obviously, it is because this mechanism could produce “infinite” loops that create problems in the game.
