I don’t understand why long queue times is an issue.
a) Those players know ahead of time that they will have to wait in line.
b) would you wait longer in order to be one of the 2 dps on a team instead of 1 of the 5?
c) This could actually encourage flexing and would make the tank and support life much, much better giving them good teams. (which is terrible currently for 97% of those who play said role)
PLEASE Feel free to educate me on why this is an actual issue in a comment.
EDIT: If you agree with this post, please heart it so that it gains some traction at a higher level perhaps and then we can increase the quality of competitive games.
At this point just should divide up the heroes into separate categories. Builders, Flankers, Main Tank/Healer, etc. but you pick two and let queue from there. I like Specialist/off-Tank for example.
Pick what your favorite two methods and matchmake from that.
Just because people complain, doesn’t mean it’s a valid complaint. We see this with mercy pleas and other outcries on the forums that have big traction. Also if people don’t like something, they can either stick out the wait-times, OR tell them they need to play another role for a while. Look at when they added single hero limits… people were in an uproar, but eventually realized it was a terribly needed change that helped the game to be better… As a role queue would most likely be (and if it isn’t, it could always be removed)
If you are going to play dps you know how long you’ll have to wait. PLUS if NOBODY wants to get in a half hour role queue then will nobody pick dps? No, only those who are dedicated to the role and are willing to play after waiting. If you aren’t willing to, either play another role, or don’t play in the role queue.
You seem to be under the impression that only the DPS players will have to wait that long. EVERYONE would be effected. If I wanna play Moira I don’t want to wait for half an hour to play the ******* game
In the context of balancing competitive it does not matter. The player base will and always does adjust; some people will leave; more people will threaten to leave and not. You don’t throw game balance out of wack because more people want to play DPS.
All the DPS players could be placed into death match maps to frag out while they wait for a game.
I agree with you, I think that tanks and supports wouldn’t have long queue times at all. if 1000 people queue in at around the same SR and say (at an extreme rate) we have 600 wanting to play dps and then 300 playing support and 100 playing tank. The 100 tanks are going to fly into matches, then the tanks who come by next will fly in with the other 200 supports left by in just that INSTANCE. The supports and tanks won’t have any issues, the dps who are stubborn, will and they know exactly how to solve this problem.
I would gladly wait any amount of time no matter how long it is to be able to play the heroes I am good at in order to give me a chance to climb rather than flexing and playing Heroes I am bad at and losing Sr.
I totally agree, and I think anyone who is playing COMPETITIVE in order to have fun in a NON-COMPETITIVE manner, is not a good addition to the floundering competitive scene. If you think you are a good player and want to climb, I would be willing to wait a while in queue to get a good fair match and show off my skills on my preferred roles.
