DPS is now for the rich and the kids only

okay but what if people…you ready for this…?

don’t want to play healer or tank?

The idea that rich people have more free time is in and of itself absurd, people obviously don’t understand what it takes to make and keep money - millionaires don’t just sit on beaches in front of lap tops all day.

For balancing reasons. I thought it was obvious enough.
No time to think as well ?

Stop crying about role queue. You see the estimated que time before you hit ready. Don’t hit really then complain like you didn’t put yourself in that line.

Go play quickplay classic if you want to enjoy your clown Fiestas.

I’m in the same boat, OP. Between a fulltime job and a familiy I don’t have much time left for playing videogames, maybe like an hour and a half on most workdays. Used to be enough to play a decent amount of games, but since 222 every match eats up so much time I can only play a couple. Feels like a waste of time now, time that I could better use playing some other game where I don’t spend a significant portion of the time just waiting.

As others have also said, check out Quick Play Classic in the Arcade if you’re only interested in QP. No solution yet for people like me who want to play Comp, unfortunately.

The game is dead. Was dead before role queue because I used to never play with the same players over and over in Comp games. That was before role queue. Wait times are long. I’m sorry but this is just how things are now.

If your not willing to do that then you lose all right to complain if you Don’t wanna play something else for a faster game. No sympathy for those like you whatsoever. Quick play classic exists. Use it.

Yeah because playing the role you want to play is a crime right ?
Jeez.

Ok ive seen people say that alot about qpc and I wish to understand it. QPC is just like qp used to be.

So you’re an adult, meaning you can grasp supply and demand.

QP RP is a mode which provides a balanced team, to do this you need all 3 roles. There is a mode called QPC which does not do this it is equivalent to old QP minus achievements and stats (I think?) If your complaint truly is queue time and you don’t care about RQ why are you not just playing there?

You cannot have balanced teams and instant queues without an equal supply of all 3 roles.

Wow…So before roleque was implemented I could say the same about you. If you wanted to play 2/2/2 you should have used the LFG, if you were not willing to do that, you have no right to complain. LFG exists. Use it

OP even states that he doesn’t mind playing tanks and supports, but it’s also not the ONLY roles he wants to play. Role que messed up the game for anyone who wants to play DPS in competitive even slightly, but doesn’t have all the time in the world in their hands.

Goes in a nightclub with some friends to party
“Oh I don’t like the music”
“Duuuuh if you’re not happy, you can leave, you should change your musical tastes, or just don’t complain”
“But I just wanted to spend the night with my friends and enjoy myself”
“No no, now you leave, good riddance filthy music hater”

“O-Ok …”

If you feel like that conversation is awkward and you keep using the “all DPS should play tank or healer” argument , then you should sit down and think upon yourselves a bit.

… I mean yeah thats how nightclubs work…

I used LFG until people stopped, so now that I have satisfied my “right to complain”…

LFG was not even remotely equivalent to 2/2/2/RQ:

  • You are locked into 2-2-2 the enemy team can run some cheese comp
  • You constantly get players who don’t actually play the roles they have signed up for and there’s no SR system to weed them out when they play like garbage
  • It takes a very long time for everyone to get a group, the group will break up at the first sign of trouble. Every single person using LFG experiences a 15ish min queue time
  • You’re often matched against actual 6 stacks who did not just meet eachother
  • It forces social interaction in OW, which has a large population that is unfit for social interaction. To be clear I think social interaction is a positive thing, until 3 groups in a row contain someone using voice for all the wrong reasons
  • group leaders lorded over groups like they were some sort of team captain

I could go on, but generally speaking it was a poor experience due to the fact that people in this game cannot take a loss. They cannot sit down after the game and discuss what went wrong and make adjustments. It’s just RAGE ANGER WE LOST ITS YOUR FAULT OMG MY LIFE IS OVER NOW. LFG was only a positive experience if you were winning, otherwise it was abysmal. I have not found this in 2-2-2, often times even in loss the game feels better because everyone did not immediately tilt off the planet.

If you’re angry about queue times you should be proposing systems to alleviate them, I will be shocked if Blizzard does not come out with a means of playing in demand roles as a means of collecting credit towards playing less in demand roles

I think the present FIFO queue system is insufficient myself.

My example sounded better in my head, not sure it serves my point right.

The difference is, in LFG the negative factors are all out of your control and in 222QP the negative factors are all within your control.

I can’t control the the way the MM changes when you above 3 stack (that has been a problem since launch), or control the leavers so you can’t get a few games in to jive with them.

I can control the times by playing some other role, or mode, exc…

Though I do admit, I feel for the old good flexible DPS that did their best for us.

be me
need to do DPS comp placements
queue time is currently ‘>7 minutes’
i wait 17 minutes to get into a game
the game ends up being cancelled because someone left

it took me 3 and a half hours to do 5 placement games.

please, i would love an explanation on how that’s okay. people (no role shaming) seem to enjoy lumping all people that like playing DPS with people that used to lock DPS and refuse to switch, and its honestly a little tiring to hear now

and no, “go play QPC” isn’t a solution. try again

It’s not, the fact that they felt a FIFO queue system with no processes in place to deal with things like cancelled games is a big miss.

A proper system shoves you back into the top of the queue when you have a leaver, you’ve got 11 of 12 needed for a game it only has to find 1 replacement and it’s bingo bango. But this is not a problem with RQ it’s a problem with the type of queuing they are doing. You can have RQ without the problem you described.

They need to put more work into their queuing systems and they need proper incentives to get people into the less in demand roles.

The fact that none of this was properly thought of in the year of development is slightly troubling to me…but I also don’t know just how much work overhauling that engine was (sometimes what sounds simple in practice is not so simple to do in a system that was not originally designed for it)

I agree, people who play role in my experience are not the problem. People who refuse to work with their teams and get hard countered all match because they just wanted to play their favorite hero that are the actual problem.

I love me some good DPS players that do their job.

I get your point, but think the analogy is bad, I mean who would go to listen to music and dance at a club? Instead of finding a venue that plays music they like?

Thats kinda the thing, we now have 2 QP options of music and comp, instead of, the club and the club with SR.

It is.
Could have come with something better I can tell.

My point was not about the current system btw. It was about people telling DPS players to play something else. Like they are not allowed to do what they like.
I feel like it’s very sad.

Damn my analogy is very bad.
