Now listen, lower your pitchforks, double shields should be viable as a comp, especially in maps like havana, and junkertown.
As in, double shields should exist to counter snipers and what not, as 90% of the roster has no valid counter play to them, and double shields made brawling 100% more fun in havana, so existence of it is valid.
The thing is, having a comp dominate on every map shouldnt happen, and with the right changes, double shields could co-exist with other comps, its not “either OP or garbage”.
So don’t get scared if its happening, like sure seeing shields spammed in second point kings row is no fun, but its not fun either having widowwatch in havana second and third.
TL;dr : double shields have a right to exist on specific maps especially when it faces a sniper+peal heavy comp.
Explanation on the TL:Dr, some comps have snipers with brig/hog/cree so running dive isnt viable, thats where double shields come in.
People sleep on Double shields when they have a widow/ashe brig/mercy, they say “just run dive 4head” when diving into that is a death wish, thats where double shields should be viable.
The problem with Double Shield right now is that it will always be at least a strong comp, provided every hero in the comp isn’t dumpstered. Look at what it took for the comp to become weak, it took nerfing both tanks and both Supports to the ground. Now, since both of the Supports (but mainly Baptiste) are viable, the comp is becoming strong again.
If you want Double Shield to just be viable, the heroes who carry the comp need reworks. Otherwise, you have dumpstered heroes.
I kinda agree, but I was talking more about double shield itself, with or without Brig. Shooting shields all day, everyday gets pretty boring. Even as support, you’re just kind of standing there waiting for the team to crack them in order to get something done.
The ironic thing about double shield is that it doesn’t counter snipers more than it counters any other damage hero. Sure, snipers are bad at destroying shields, but they’re the best at getting picks in the short windows of opportunity when the shields are down.
If anything, when the opponents run double shield, you benefit more from having at least one sniper than having none.
As a widow main. I’m a bit opposed to this. If you’re smart with grapple and your positioning, you can easily give yourself some more room and opportunity to get away(Although if you’re too out of position, you can easily die, since Winston’s jump pack is half the CD of grapple). Especially with pockets being rampant. For example, Winston BARELY out damages a Mercy pocket and most of the other supports can out heal his damage.
Oh. I’ve seen this post before. Personally, the support in me says #1, but it would be interesting to see the another version of Brigitte. Interesting balance changes though!
I still contend that special barrier damage set as a percentage of the barrier’s max health is the best way to go.
Give key heroes with certain abilities on cool down bonus barrier damage.
Nothing excessive, but with certain heroes and the right values, you can create windows of opportunity to break barriers faster and rush in to break the 2xbarrier comp with a buster-rush comp.
It isn’t a direct counter, but a possible counter meaning the barrier’s being down it comes to dueling it out - skill and team play wins vs shoot shields and do nothing else.
Shooting shields all day ? Both orisa and sig combined shields are 1300, that’s literally two clips from junkrat alone, not counting team damage, now, imagine having hog, or zarya, or zen, those shields will melt very fast.
The only way you facing problems against double shields is running ashe/widow.
