Not sure how I feel about that one as him being high speed and high mobility is a large part of what makes him unique and fun.
When I first got into the game all of the characters seemed to move really slowly and get back from spawn really slowly so that’s why I picked him up.
They are also combining his uppercut and slam into one leap ability. On the one hand this makes him a bit simpler but on the other hand it homogenized him to be like Winston. It also removes creative uses of punch or positioning to get yourself a slam without having to make use of uppercut.
I suggest that overwatch 2 be kept separate from the original game so that both versions can be enjoyed on their own.
I just hope you can cancel it mid air as another way to Rocket Punch enemies in the air and do stuff like this:
Knocks enemies up in the air with the “uppercut” part of the leap, cancels the leap and rocket punches.
I hope they at least keep both as builds to use for PvE.
I’m just disappointed they decided to keep him relatively the same.
People have, historically, spoken out about how horrible he is to play against because of his CC. And they decided to keep it instead of taking this opportunity to rework him into a hero that isn’t garbage to play against, let alone play as.
I’m starting to feel convinced that they don’t know what they’re doing.
It’s Aaron/Geoff of course they don’t know what there doing. honestly if they really wanted to communicate with us they would pick a hero each week and actually played it with us and ask us to critique that particular hero on abilities. The heroes that could be tweaked we wouldn’t be in this mess they are like clams unless you boil them they refuse to open up and share there delicious spoils.
Games being dumbed down a for a mobile kiddie audience. Expect more of this over time. Blizz still has not learned that a competitive game needs a challenging skill curve to maintain players… they never will, and wonder why games like CS:GO and Valorant keep players and have successful eSports and they don’t.
“YoU HaVE PhoNEz DoN’t YoUz” - remember that line. They will no question be porting OW 2 to mobile, it’s obvious that is the direction all this is taking. IIRC there were also direct statements about OW getting a mobile game…
EDIT: there were https://www.dexerto.com/overwatch/blizzard-reportedly-planned-to-release-overwatch-mobile-alongside-overwatch-2-1537070/
Do we know for sure tho? If OW2 was getting ported to mobile, we would’ve heard an official announcement by now. And OW in general would not work on mobile in the first place.
They have not officially; OTOH, all the signs point directly towards a mobile game version, and the best way to do this was first institute Crossplay. The next is retrograde your game in the direction and style of mobile game which they are doing. The mobile market so utterly dwarfs PC/Console its ridiculous…
I would be perfectly content with no content. Just remove the algorithmic handicapping from competitive and make some minor quality-of-life improvements here n there and overwatch 1 will be perfect.
So let us 5% continue to enjoy the old game not sure how it can harm the new one.
You can use a controller with mobile and you can get tablet devices with bigger screen than a Nintendo switch. Nintendo switch is locked at 30fps and it struggles to even keep up with that which makes it quite a frustrating experience. Furthermore there is no data connection with Nintendo switch.
To use your own argument against you if the mobile market is potentially so much bigger then doesn’t it make sense to cater to them?
Overwatch is a PvP game. The PvE missions in 2 will be supplemental, at it’s core it will still be PvP.
If a hero is incredibly unhealthy and ruins the fun for everyone who isn’t playing him in said PvP, he needs to be changed. If said hero’s kit is EXTREMELY held back by hard counters, and is only balanced because of said hard counters, he needs to be changed.
There is no “keep OW and OW2 separate just so he can exist in his current form.” Reworks are meant to keep the game in a good place and ensure heroes are healthy. Yeah, it sucks that you lose a character you enjoy. However, it’s a necessity. It happens in other PvP games and needs to be done.
