He’s gone. Go ahead, hug your family and celebrate. He’s gone.
Love him or hate him, his design was something unique. A breath of fresh air. An oasis in the middle of a hitscan desert.
A hero who’s mere presence made the very foundations of Overwatch tremble. The infamous Akande Ogondimu.
I just wanted to salute the courage of those developers who had the massive balls to push an actual fighting game character into a shooter. You can’t imagine how happy you made this veteran Smash player the day Doomfist was revealed. Thank you.
For those who gather around his fresh dead body and rejoice the monster has finally been slaughtered: Enjoy your victory, as we have enjoyed ours.
But don’t get too comfy, for if something has Doomfist taught us, is to keep getting right at your face when you knock us down.
Good luck to all my fellow Doomfist players on this new adventure. Fortune favors the bald.
I actually look forward to doing tanking with him if he’s even half playable.
Pretty convinced his “bad” performance in the betas was due to 1) DPS players on Doom not knowing the first thing about tanking and 2) tank players not knowing the first thing about Doom.
Yeah, Power Block seems like a really bad noob trap to me. I’d get Tankfists that assumed they could use it willy-nilly and then get CC’d, destroyed, and angry at teammates.
Doomfist is one of the characters I have the most fond memories of. Out of all the new heroes, logging on and playing him on the PTR in a 6v6 all Doom mirror match on Lijiang Tower sticks out–it’s where I got my first Doom POTG in just one/two matches, and where I realized “oh man, I’m gonna have to stick with this”; and that I did! He sits at my 3rd most played hero overall today, at 218 hrs. behind Hog (232) and Lucio (250). I never went crazy big and learned everything or got insanely good, but I was consistent in most games and loved it.
Not sure how to feel about Tank Doom yet. He was okay in the first iteration, then they nerfed him, and now they’re still nerfing him even when he’s not in the masses hands just yet, and I’m hoping it won’t be so bad, but I’m not sure. I certainly didn’t have as much fun as DPS, that’s for sure, but Doom’s character archetype might just ring too addicting to put down; here’s hoping.
because it’s easy to confirm kill as doomfist more than genji because doomfist have multiple damage button meanwhile on genji after you hit your dash you can only rely on your aim
He’s definitely playable but his damage output seems a bit underwhelming sometimes. I would rather have less mobility (he can cover almost half the map with a Super Slam) and add a bit more damage to his punch.
To the developer who thought up this character and everyone who greenlighted it, I just want to say you may have anger management issues, or a great deal of anger left from childhood bullying, and the unflattering adult desire to bully back. You didn’t just put a fighting game character into a shooter, you put it into a game against characters who can’t fight back using the same mechanic. It is bullying. Griefing.
I was never any good with DPS Doom (or dps in general let’s not talk about that tho) but I know tanking. And I love OW2 tanking. Doomfist was incredible before slam was destroyed but I worry he’s never gonna feel as satisfying as he did again and it’s cruel
