Doom vs Sombra - Engagement

It’s not even remotely close to easy. Not to mention that Doomfist has more cooldowns, so after you used that you are dead anyway.

It’s not big enough for that to happen often enough.

After many deaths I presume.

That’s not the point.
The point is that he represents a play style that can’t be viable on any hero that’s remotely close to balanced.

Upper cut + punch

If he’s that far away and impossible to reach, either:

  1. You’re not good enough with Doomfist’s movement and need to work on that, or:
  2. He’s basically running away from you at that point and isn’t a threat.

Lucio doesn’t have to run away. He can fight DF like that since he knows his wall ride can give him an advantange against DF because of its speed and is able to get out of DF range. He can make a DF player retreat like this or kill him

If the Doomfist is any good then yes, he (the Lucio) has to run away. You’re probably finding it so difficult because you play Doomfist on console.

Ive seen chipsa, brandito, genjideity struggle to kill Lucio even thought they’re good DF players. Sometimes Lucio will kill them or make them run away. And yeah its difficult for me to kill Lucio on console, but I know it would be difficult for a DF player on PC to kill a lucio player like DPStankey

The vast majority of the time the Doomfist has the upperhand. The times where Lucio manages to kill a good Doomfist are the minority. There’s a reason Doomfist is in the damage category and Lucio is support.

Doomfist is one of the best heroes to kill those slippery supports regardless.
He has more hp and bigger damaging hitboxes than your usual dps.

Thats not so trivial though. There are a huge number of matchups where supports trivially counter damage heroes.

Yeah true in many cases supports do actually counter damage heroes. The Doomfist/Lucio matchup definitely isn’t one of them though - and even if the Lucio is doing all this crazy wallriding that NiceGenji’s hypothesizing, all the while the Doomfist is gonna be slaughtering the Lucio’s teammates and just ignore the Lucio lol.

The same way if someone played 10 mins on doom they’d know hes hard to get value out of. Pretty much the same thing for every hero, you cant play them for the first time and expect to counter someone, but if you practise sombra before then she really is a good counter.

Sometimes, when EMP is charged I like to just hack either Doomfist, Tracer or another sombra and leave them alone to the mercy of my team since I’m already full charge, they can charge their ults with them. :robot:

He is pretty annoying to play that’s for sure… But even with no practice you can just one shot people by punching into a crowd randomly.
On the other hand, Sombra is very significantly weaker statistically. It’s no wonder, when one is designed to work even while massively outnumbered, while the other is one of the most team reliant heroes.
That alone shows a massive power difference.

maybe in bronze, but if you straight up have no clue what you are doing and you try stuff like that you are massively feeding and being a detrement to your team.

He does the same damage in every rank.
Just stop with this. He has a very high winrate everywhere.
All because he doesn’t have sufficient counter play.

You should EMP doomfist “on the way in,” and attempt to Hack him when he’s charging up a fist or attempting to attack a teammate or out of cooldowns and ammo or just landed from a Meteor Strike (if you’re lucky).

thats true for many other heros, but not for doomfist… due to his huge hitbox and her spread damage she does really good damage on him. + the advantage to hack him out of stealth. If a sombra fails against a doom she doesnt do it right.

But yea i prefer to play reaper anyways against doom.

Thats not what i mean - if you just rocket punch into a full enemy team at a higher rank the odds of you being cc’d and insta melted are much higher. he plays very different depending on what rank you are in. He def does have sufficient counterplay btw.

The Doom vs Sombra matchup is kind of a boring one to be honest.

So let’s say that from a counterpick perspective, there is a Sombra on one team and a Doom on the other team. Sombra’s team doesn’t have any Doom counters other than Sombra herself. Now, a good Sombra will spot the Doomfist and just patiently wait stealthed and wait for Doom to make a mistake so she can protect her backline or pretty much anyone that Doom is diving.
A good Doom will just wait for the Sombra to pop up and hack someone else or just get his team to force her translocator somehow. So they can engage on that short period of time Sombra is out.

The difference is on gamesense. A good Doom should never yolo engage alone, especially when there is a stealthed Sombra waiting for him in the enemy team. And a good Sombra will just wait for the Doom to engage first so she can hack him. I remember once i saw Brandito(one of the best Dooms) vs Fitzyhere(one of the best Sombras) on a stream, and Fitzy’s job was literally to wait patiently for Brandito to show up so she can hack him. Brandito got hacked like 3 times before a major fight took place, eventually being useless, so he got forced off of Doom. That was in GM/T500.
But in the end there should never be a 1v1 comparison between the 2. There are 10 more players in that game.

If sombra so easy to play then you should easily take her to gm no?

If you are being engaged as the Sombra by the Doomfist you’re doing it wrong.

Plain and simple.
