Don't take away OW1 with OW2's release

6V6 vs 5V5 is not the issue. The issue is the systematic dumbing down of any hero that remotely makes them more unique to be more generalists, often destroying those heroes in the process because that isn’t how they were designed. Even if there was a 6v6 arcade mode, it wouldn’t undo the countless changes to heroes that just made them less enjoyable to play.
I just wanted 5v5 but with heroes being unique. I’ve personally stopped playing the BETA because all my mains were either nerfed, dumbed down or made near unplayable. Tanking is fun but queues are 10 minutes long even with the pass and that isn’t worth it and I don’t enjoy playing support. OW1 isn’t perfect, it’s got glaring flaws. But it feels unique and that is something I can’t really say for OW2.

doomfist.

:pouting_cat:

Doomfist wasn’t changed to be a generalist and is still unique

In fact they moved him to tank to make sure he stayed true to himself

Scrap the OW2 pvp and just make the PvE a separate game.

Doomfist absolutely doesn’t feel unique now.

They need to have an OW1 6vs6 mode in the arcade, using the last ever OW1 patch before all the changes were introduced. Gonna miss Mei’s freeze on primary so much, ruins her it not being a thing.

There’s already capability in OW2 beta to have 6v6 via custom games, you’ll probably still have “Classic Overwatch” with 6v6 in the arcade if that’s what bothers you so much.

OW2 is a massive improvement over OW1 and if you can’t see that… I dunno what to tell you. I played OW1 for the first time since the beta dropped today for my placement matches and all I was thinking was “I wish I was playing OW2 instead rn.”

I agree, I would at least like the OPTION to continue playing 6v6.

don’t worry you don’t have to play at an OWL level

that not the point… im a high gold / low play type player which is where most people are aka this is going to be some crazy fast gameplay…i can only imagine what healers going to go threw lowkey this might be worst that 1-3-2

Not happening. And even if it did happen you would be playing a game with no new maps, events, heroes, balance changes or competitive queues/Role queues. If dps cant find a game right now, imagine when 95% of the tank playerbsse moves to OW2.

Schrödinger’s Overwatch

It’s both the same game and an entire new different fps game aimed for other genre players

From what I see of OW2, I’m not going to enjoy it very much and if they don’t have a competitive 6v6 format then I’ll probably drop it. Stuns and CC are what make OW1 stand out from other more enjoyable team shooters. Without that the game just becomes more a more generic one with an atrocious history of balancing and hero favouritism by the devs. So hopefully they either keep 6v6 or tone down flankers and hitscan in 2

do you think they wont ever patch the game?, they patched the game for 6 v 6 for years, of course 5 v 5 made all past balances not fair, its the first beta

yeah the gameplay is fast so lets slow it down, by balancing the game for 5v5 in mind

how can the devs possibly balance the game after the first week

This is pretty hard to argue with (and gave me a good laugh, too  )

I mean I think his point is that even if you do delete OW1 for OW2 you are going to effectively separate the player base because people like me and him are going to just not play OW2 as we do not find it nearly as fun as OW1. That is totally fine too it is just we are pleading with blizzard to keep the base game because we enjoy it so much more. I know that personally I have stopped playing the beta and just play OW1 as it feels better to me.

I’m talking more towards a middle ground in terms of design philosophy and hero balance.

Combine the chaotic teamplay coordination with the more sterilized individual play.

A personal example would be combining the two kits of Orisa – current and upcoming – to get the best of both worlds.

Overwatch 2 is “just” more of the same for some hero mains, and a very different game for everyone else.

However, it is obnoxious to argue it is still the same game while ridiculing everyone else who disagree and it is purely egotistical to take a jab at someone’s skill for preferring the original format. Yet this is the sort of toxic feedback we have been seeing in support for the beta, and as usual, Blizzard devs see only what they want to see (raving supporters in favor of their changes, no matter how idiotic). We can see this in their PR messages, which continues to happily spin the received feedback as positive encouragement for the balance team to keep pushing on with ever more radical updates, no matter polarizing changes are in reality.

I’d pay for OW1 again to be able to play it after OW2’s release. No need for balance changes, new heroes, new events in OW1. Just leave it be and go on ruining a DIFFERENT game.
