I don’t like it personally because of the buffs and nerfs that only matter to the OWL and above diamond (like orisa getting absolutely destroyed which is bad for me who just plays qp which has no “meta”). owl is a very very very small part of the OW community. I want to hear your opinions on the OWL.
it was needed for ranked aswell
I had a trio and we just ran horse sig bap and it was free sr
I prefer her now as fortify is overall better and halt takes more skill to use, her gun is easier to use now which I prefer
she needs another 200-300 health put into her shield
I watch owl and double shield isn’t fun to watch compared to dive and brawl
although in terms of the actual game id rather be in double shield meta than this bursty dps meta we have where half the dps are op and the rest are unviable
its not fun to play any tank right now because of this
I’ve yet to find a single person on this forum that enjoys OWL so no.
I feel indifferent torwards the league. I don’t watch it, but if others enjoy it, whatever floats your boat. The balance changes in regards to Sombra specifically to pander for pro play is garbage.
Harsh but true. What chance does OWL have when even the own playerbase rejects it? ![]()
I love the OWL.
Very fun and the players are the very best of this community (well, playing at least).
Idk about balance but I really enjoy the show
It’s literally not the same game as high ranked ladder, let alone low ranked ladder. It’s just an oddity to stare at. It has as much relation to Overwatch as 99% of the world plays it as Magnus Carlson has to your local patzer.
I think it’s caused some issues and the matches themselves are not worth the millions spent on it imo. Watching a good top the line streamer is about the same to me…
The main issues caused by OWL however are game play patches. We have these frequent and blatantly odd buff/nerf cycles all to keep OWL fresh. They want to switch up the meta without doing real work so they just nerf or buff some hero’s to make sure the meta changes for OWL. Because other wise we haven’t had a new map or hero in about a year…
There is also the skin issue. Most the best legendary skins are locked behind paywalls for 10-20 dollars worth of tokens or 30+ hours of viewing their live matches. A system that is horribly buggy and often doesn’t give you the tokens you earned. But in general not a fan of out of game methods required to earn in game rewards.
It’s like locking a skin behind buying 20 bags of Doritos or something.
OWL in itself I’d be fully supportive for, if they didn’t dumpster heroes on ladder because of their impact on the OWL
Like seriously Sombra is trash and has been trash since they nerfed her hack duration to 5s, yet she’s played in OWL - A character should not be reserved for a small percentage of the playerbase, if they can’t find a middle point between her being fine for OWL and viable in ladder, then they need to start considering separate balancing
You speak the truth and that’s the core of the problem; OWL and high competitive leagues doesn’t represent the same game as the players see. Balancing a hero around pre-made competitive 6-stacks that most people will never experience is… Problematic.
So heroes like Sombra will forever be trash because she has to be reserved for the 0,0001% elite players.
Nope, i don’t like it either. Gave it a chance when it was a new thing, but gave up on it later and haven’t seen a single match or kept up with what’s going on.
I don’t like it.
Imo Overwatch is one of those games that arent fun to watch others play. Would rather play myself.
Balance being focused around them does really suck though because they really are playing a different game.
I hate it not because its comp or because of its influence, but because Blizzard essentially created a near monopoly on tournaments with it. Community tournaments of a fair size have to comply with their tourney licensing rules or get shut down. It basically killed the third party tourney scene.
I like watching streamers play OW. It’s quite enjoyable when you can follow one perspective. OWL on the other hand…
Trying to follow 12 different players and have the 3rd person camera turns the viewing experience into a mess. You cannot see what’s going on.
I don’t get the reasoning of watching any kind of sports but that’s just me.
I love OWL, if you don’t then that’s fine
Nope never cared for it and dislike there influence on ladder game play. Hope one day to have separate balancing for OWL.
-raises hand- All stupid balance decisions aside, I also find the whole concept really freaking boring. In fact, I never even bothered to get those tokens. I just don’t like it. They all play the same heroes over and over again, announcers acting like it’s the most exciting thing ever (when I’m just praying for them to shut up)…
This. I like to watch certain Youtubers (which happen to be non-meta characters) but the whole concept of OWL is something I just can’t get into.
I dont care much, wanted once to watch OWL, had to mute it and it was only acceptable way to watch because comments from casters were annoying and ruining experience to me at least.
Im not sport watching person so that might be a reason, i dont want someone explaining to me what happened last fight, i just saw it.
They base changes on most levels, with more weighting towards high end ranked/pro play.
But, OWL is pretty entertaining. Fun to watch the game being played properly by good teams. Same with Contenders.
