like, 2 tanks, 3 dps, and 2 healers. 14 players in 1 match. Would it make the game a chaotic mess or would it actually fix something?
I personally think it could help against the whole “too much healing problem” or whatever it’s called what with more damage being tossed around in matches. On top of that it can help with the dps queue time problem. On the other hand however, it may bring even more problems to the table with 1 extra person to keep track of in a match, as well as the possibility unfun metas that could come from it. idk. What do you guys think of it?
edit: Yes, i am aware of the technical limitations i’m just saying that IF it was possible would it be an improvement or not?
no way, but 5v5 could really work for an experimental with 1 tank and 2 dps & 2 supports

Jeff said it would cause server instability, meaning they have to upgrade to maintain stable connections which doesn’t seem to be within their budget.
But taking that out and just thinking of the idea, yeah it would definetly make it much much more chaotic.
Look at casual TF2 matches, 12 players per team okay overkill really really chaotic.
But i can say one person can make a big difference with how chaotic it is.

7v7 wouldn’t increase Tank appeal.
It would still be the least played role because of gameplay feeling.

it would make a synergized dps group unbeatable. Imagine a Genji, doom, and sombra who are all communicating and all pounce you the second you get hacked. Unplayable for any role but dps.

Two Tanks are barely able to handle two DPS as is.
Tanks are a far cry from the old days where a good tank main on a main tank can take on four DPSes, now you need two tanks to handle two DPS, if you make it three, they’ll go from feeding, to just dead.
BTW, before rolequeue, when you have a solo tank, off meta tankbusters like Sombra and Mei take up the third slot.

its only cause of role q, in open q 1-4-1 1-3-2 works tanks generally trade power with tanks, as long as enemy has same amount of tanks number of dps shouldnt matter.
Also sure any role size change would require some nerfs and buffs to compensate.
No it wouldn’t and Blizzard has stated this many times that they would have to completely rewrite the program to make it work since the game is balanced around 6v6. It wouldn’t alleviate the DPS queue times because more people just play DPS. The only solution for DPS queue times is for the majority of “DPS Only” players, to stop being “DPS Only”
It could work. But the game was designed to only do 6v6. And it’s also for e you to rely on another person even when it’s a nightmare to rely on 5 other strangers. But that’s just my opinion.
wouldnt fix anything…people are always looking to blame something (besides themselves) when a team loses…whether it be the role ratio, which heroes were picked, or how well they think their teammates did regardless of the above…
5v5, 7v7…doesnt matter…
it might help with queue times…but its not going to make the game itself feel any better…youre playing with other people and thats always going to be the easy scapegoat…just the nature of the game

The game should be 5v5, 1 less enemy to worry about, 1 less teammate to babysit.
I guess could have worked maybe.
That would be nice. Hmmm but what role to get one less of?
I feel like this would just make picks less consequential towards a teamfight, making it harder for some players to carry games when they’re performing well. Another person to track on both teams can easily overwhelm most players as well, It’s hard enough for most people to track just one of their opponents.
I don’t even think queue times would be helped at all by this. You get another DPS queue slot, but that could easily lead to more people queuing DPS under the premise of quicker queue times (than before), thereby not solving the issue at all. If you build it, they’ll come.
Would cause multiple issues
- would need to raise the system requirements and would alienate many players.
- the current game client is optimized for 6v6
- there is enough visual clutter already.
As long as they want to keep low minim requirements to play the game I wouldn’t expect anything like that. OW is currently meant to be played on the worst of PC’s and the Switch. The switch is the biggest issue as it just semi came out and has cross play with other consoles I believe.
They can’t realistically abandon it already to upgrade the game. Which is why I am really curious if OW 2 will be on the switch and if so what that means for the engine update being any good.
as a gamer with a bad pc I agree with this
Lol I have a decent PC, was great a few years ago but lousy Internet so meh. I am used to playing lower resource heavy games because of that.
Hard to tell, but maybe Tanks?
IDK, I guess they should buff Tanks and Supports and make it 131.
Give them in combat self heals for the solo job maybe, to reduce the reliance on peeling.
No , never. Solo tanking sucks and will just lead to tanks quitting in droves as they are driven from the role / game due to not playing ‘the’ best tank according to some random website.
How about 3-1-2 instead ?

Seems fair. Or course if we were to ever do such an idea. It could work but let’s be honest most people of any role hate having to solo anything.
