Do you think Ana is a troll pick?

You might have seen my last post about getting a golden gun. Going to get one for Ana as my first! I plan to play her in comp a whole lot more when I can. My question for the whole overwatch community with Brigitte in the mix…

If you get an Ana on your team, do you consider her a troll pick? Also, if you see a golden gun Ana would you feel better about having one on your team?

Kinda. She’s like Symmetra in that unless you’re really quite skilled with her, you’re probably not very good at all. I don’t groan on seeing someone lock Ana like I do Symmetra or Torb unless there’s a Widow and/or Hanzo already on the team, though. More of a like “Why would you do this to yourself?” feeling than a “Why would you do this to us?” feeling, I guess

All this troll pick stuff is really stupid, unless you play good with Ana then you should be fine.

Not a throw/troll pick since she can give out really good healing, but she isn’t necessarily the best healer to choose most of the time since she can easily die without her abilities. She also has to make decisions on using bionade on herself or on her team sometimes, and she requires very good aim even if your teammate hitboxes are slightly increased for her.

Before Brigitte she was definitely a troll pick. You only pick Ana in a dive enviroment if you want to lose.

Now things might start to change. Getting a anti-nade in the middle of your deathball that relies on AOE healing is never fun, so she might start to be viable again.

Don’t use her in bad situations. Like any other hero.

In my experience, I pick widow and someone picks Mei to troll me cause I would not give up Widow so they could play her, they continue to put up walls blocking my shots. It seems to happen more often lately.

Well that is just a waste of everyone’s time on the meis part… I’ll be honest, I’m usually sceptical when I see a widow on my team but if I see a good amount of hours with her then I can feel confident in their ability to contribute.

Don’t think Ana is a troll pick. Yes she can be a little weak, but as long as you’re healing and trying your best, it’s not considered a troll pick.

Here’s to hoping a buff for her is on the way.

Not a troll pick, just not as good as others and very much more niche. You are also more likely to be forced to switch based on what characters the other team plays.

If your bad with her, she’s a troll pick. If you’re good with her, you’re about on par with an average Mercy.

Ana is bad even then.
Like she got power crept so hard, there really is no point of picking her ever.

I’m already kinda prepared for that… with Brigitte being played mostly I always think I could be second healer with Ana but most of the time I get asked to switch to a more reliable healer. Which I can understand, but unfortunately I don’t run into a lot of people who are willing to play Moira or mercy though they always seem to be on the other team unless I play them :joy:

I personally don’t think ANYONE is a troll pick, because I believe that a person that confident in picking a hero that fast is going to play them well. I always give people the benefit of the doubt.

The problem with game quality sometimes is when people jump to conclusions BEFORE anything has even happened (e.g. omg troll pick, omg we’re going to lose). I say just give everyone a chance and see how things go. If it doesn’t work out, you all work as a team to figure out a solution for team composition.

I like the way you think! I have to admit I get nervous when I see a torb or Sym. But like you, I give the benefit of the doubt and sometimes it works out great because they are good with that hero.

I ended my alt account 4351 last season playing Ana on console.

People started to not question my pick honestly. If you make it this high, you’ll rarely get complaints.

But when I see a 400 hour Mercy/Lucio/Moira one trick that tries Ana, I worry.

I still see people playing Ana. QP and comp.

I just know that if we’re all being mean to each other before the game even starts, that we have a high chance of losing. I just advocate being nice to one another

I am playing QP for now, I want to get over 200 hours on her before even considering Comp play. I am about 100 hours on Widow but I still get shutdown sometimes by other widows who have less, which is kinda frustrating but I’ll switch to something else if that happens.

The number of “bad situations” for Ana is depressingly high.

  • any dive hero on the enemy team hard-counters Ana
  • Sheilds on the enemy team hard-counter Ana
  • no reliable self-healing
  • teammates accidentally body-block your shots all the time

It doesn’t help that Ana’s impact just doesn’t measure up to her skill ceiling. Nana needs buffs.
