What are your expectations for 6v6, do you agree with it?
I have the feeling weāll return to Double Shield metas first. It will be a nice re-welcome for like one day, then weāll have complaints. Again.
Iāll be glad to finally have a tank buddy again.
I donāt like 6v6, but I could come to like it depending on how itās balanced. The only 6v6 rq we had sucked for many reasons after all
If 6v6 in thia new capacity will resoevt the tankās role as a space holder, then sure. If its all fat dps ganeplay then no.
Truth be told Ill likely hard bail to Marvel Rivals, which is the entire reason they want to bring 6v6 back anyway.
Nah I ended up loathing it, I played it for 6yrs and hope it doesnāt become the main format for OW2.
Itās the only time actually queue Tank. Could run Sigma Balls or Ball Hogging. With Blizzard is going to be a miss over a hit.
6v6 is vastly superior if itās balanced properly to prevent certain supports and tanks turning the game into a sustain fest.
If thatās done the game gains a lot of complexity from the off tank. If not, it turns into goats/double shield or an equivalent.
Yes and no. There are things I like (and dislike) about both modes and hope the hybrid modes turn out to be the best of both worlds.
Iām wondering a couple things about it. If 6v6 is popular enough to warrant a separate permanent game mode these are my concerns:
- Will 5v5 still exist?
- Will Open Queue and Role Queue exist for 6v6; and for 5v5 if both modes exists?
- Will Role Queue and Open Queue be consolidated into āFlexā Queues (limit 2 or min 1 max 3), or remain the same?
- Will selecting 222 or 1-3 be determined on the most popular mode at the time tested or some other factor?
- What will be the predominant mode for determining balancing?
- Will balance be separately based on 5v5 or 6v6, or the more popular mode?
- Are they only going to apply the Open Queue HP reduction/bonus?
- Will they rebalance or rework heroes for 6v6?
- What would be the HP values in 222 vs 1-3?
I donāt think just a blanket Open/Role Queue HP bonus is enough or fair to assess the performance of tanks and flexibility between roles.
I want to believe it will be better but Blizz is perfectly capable of sabotaging it or messing its balance.
Its not like they are going to say āāoopsies my badāā and undo years of bad changes or their entire philosophy that led to the downfall of OW1.
double shield wont be a problem if they add a new tank passive that gives them a good amount of increased damage against shieldsā¦ you would then play things like dva, zarya, mauga or hog to burst through those shields quickly and give ramattra his old passive back.
what needs to be addressed though are aoe healing abilities and immortalities
It should be DPSās job to pressure shield tanks too. It was, but Blizz made sure that hitscan players didnt have to stop playing their snipers during double shields by kneejerk nerfing the anti-barrier DPS.
Because those same DPS players didnt want to let heroes like Sym and DF be played against Double Shields. They wanted double sniper in every match.
I like 6v6 in the fact that the tank isnāt alone. This is great for multiple reasons, if you have one tank you have to hope that tank can play a better counter or you will just get rolled. One tank requires supports to be extra mindful of one person, especially when that person is huge when it comes to determining fights.
This also takes stress off of tanks, always feeling like they have to counter and constantly being blamed for everything because they are the only one in their role. I think it will be worth trying out HOWEVER I donāt have a lot of faith with the team when it comes to balancing lol
I liked 6v6 more than 5v5. I was a tank main all through OW1, and still played near daily during the post-echo content drought. I was excited to try 5v5 and was hopeful it would work but ultimately didnāt like how the game played with solo tanks. My biggest fears about excessive counter-swapping and harassment both became huge problems. I gave up on tank completely in OW2 and refuse to queue fill because of how much I hate tanking in OW2.
Iām not bothered whether itās 5v5 or 6v6, RQ or OQ or role limits or something else entirely. Iām loyal to the format that gives me the best quality matches with the lowest queue times possible.
I liked pre rq 6v6 most fun stuff and freedom was back then.
2-2-2 was on for what it is.
5v5 is more restrictive in terms of creative approaches.
Everything is too deathballish.
That said itās more the issues it causes with solo tanking and the various issues it causes to balance matchmaking quality and uniqueness of other heroes.
i really dont care which format the game isā¦ive enjoyed 6v6 and ive enjoyed 5v5ā¦and even in 5v5 i play OQ and MH enough that i still get multi tank comps all the timeā¦i can still get that experience in game currently if i really want
the question to me is not about which one i like moreā¦thats an emotional questionā¦its an objective one:
can 6v6 work? (and if we really want to be technical, everybody really means 222 when they say 6v6)ā¦and the answer is:
why would it?
we already played it for 6 years and we KNOW what kind of problems it presentsā¦all of which would STILL be the case if it were to come backā¦there arent enough people willing to play the tank role to warrant having 2 of them
for as much as i dont mind the 6v6 world, theres like no point to go back other than some people like it moreā¦not a good enough reason if you ask me
Yes, but only in 2/2/2. I do not want more than 3 tanks, and you dont want 3 supps either. And no repeats. I mean, how would you like 3 Kirikos, guys? Bet people would complain abour that. Uncapable payloads at the end with endless Kiri tp? Idk, but I definitely dont want 3 unkilkable fatties.
yeah, exactly.
my question is, what is the experience players are looking for that they canāt find with 5v5, because it seems to me that none of the formats Blizz mentioned can provide any particular or coherent experience? even this āKingmakerā mode could be awesome, it could be amazing to be The King, but you canāt just have that experience, no no, thatās up to the other people on your team.
you want a ātank buddyā? even if itās RQ youāre very often gonna get paired up with a WB whoās the other side of the map most the game.
Blizzard should want to narrow down a specific 6v6 experience and try their best to deliver on it, imo. otherwise all weāre talking about here is a wider variance of experiences where potentially more of them are bad, while frustrating ourselves chasing the actual experiences we want/like. weāve been down this road.
butā¦ it should be a tank jobā¦ ensure the frontline tank pressure and exchange which enhances variety in the game. tank exchange was one of the most fun parts of playing 2 tanks. letsās capitalize on that.
