I have to believe none of the developers actually play this game. They have to be just going through the motions and trying to make sure they aren’t fired because they know they’ll never be able to get another job after this once beloved game has been ruined by their constant terrible decisions. No sombra fix despite being in every match (because they base changes on win rate meaning one is going to lose every game when every team has one on their team), matchmaking still awful, leaver penalties in QP even when there are leavers in your game and no backfill, terrible changes to literally every character in the game, op characters upon release just so they can turn and do what they should of done in the first place then pat themselves on the back acting like they’ve done something good. We have to stop acting like these developers actually care about making a good game and realize it’s just a job for them. I truly believe they have given up and are just waiting for the inevitable, the amount of people quitting and the terrible reviews without any meaningful fixes to the game show just that. They have given us every reason to believe they no longer care, which genuinely sucks when I actually love the core concept and design of the game. If only Blizzard would hire a competent developer team with a fresh look on the game instead of people that have clearly given up on it. I mean the way they go about making changes in the game show that they themselves don’t care to play or even try to understand the nuances of the game and are just going off statistics. I hope I can have fun again playing the game I love but after all these terrible changes patch after patch I don’t know if I ever will or even can have fun anymore. Let’s be real though they don’t care as long as the microtransactions keep flowing in and their jobs are safe, they’ll never address any real issues. I’ll keep holding out hope but until they make some real meaningful changes, I think I need to move on like the rest of us. It’s the only way they’ll ever see just how bad the game has become. - From a true fan of OW who’s just disappointed at this point

The ‘‘devs’’ right now are either greedy corporate that dont care about this game and only cares about metrics that might lead to shop spending, or abused foot soldiers that are overworked and underpaid and have zero weight in what is actually put in the game.
They are straight up nerfing weak heroes just because they might annoy popular hero mains.
And this is exactly what I said was going to happen when they put a MONETIZATION CORPORATE DUDE FROM HEARTHSTONE as HERO DESIGN lead in OW2.
Balance is just another tool for metrics manipulation to placate superrich dudes that should have died 20 years ago during the shareholder meetings.
I was mainly addressing the content creators like Flats that actually still believe the developers when they say they care. They just don’t, and the fact that content creators like them pander to the developers to stay on good terms with them is one of the reasons why they are so delusional and don’t see their many flaws. Either that or they are just unapologetically greedy, which my faith in humanity still tells me that you need to sleep at night and at least lie to yourself that you care. But that faith seems to trickle away day by day because of companies like Blizzard.
i used to try and give them the benefit of the doubt…but im starting to have second thoughts. the matchmaking has been so bad for so long now, im not sure what were even doing here anymore. i logged on tonight and played 5 games, and all 5 were losses.
the stomps are just ridiculous anymore…i sure hope they find a way to fix this, because at this rate, im finding less and less reason to log in anymore.
update: played 2 more games…2 more losses…so for tonight, every game ive played has been a loss…

Yeah, same, I’ve had about 15-20 loses today, every one had a full team pf players obviously many levels above ANYONE on my team. Some of them we couldn’t even leave spawn.
Had one match where I just stopped engaging halfway through while the enemy is racking up 20 kills and we all have zero. Teammate starts getting mad at me, it’s like, ok, so you just want me to FEED, because that’s literally all we’re doing because we’re insanely outmatched.
I wish there was some kind of game regulation that could oversee and check into games like this that purposely create fake outcomes. Kind of like a BBB for gaming. They’d take one look at this game and shut it down.
They live in their own offices in an echo chamber. They don’t care what we think, they literally shrug off all of the bad publicity and reviews and act like it’s just a setup, they laugh at any mention that their matchmaking could be garbage and make the games trash, they gaslight constantly and blame the PLAYERS for problems with THEIR game.
To call them developers is a joke, and they should be laughed out of the entire industry.
Many of the good devs left. So they’re probably struggling to keep the game afloat with so many staff turnovers. Things should start getting better once Microsoft takes over, but it still might take few years to return to the golden days of Overwatch.
Have you guys seen what happened with bungie? The devs were trying to make the game better but the higher ups kept denying request. Then the higher ups fired a ton of people, even the veteran developers that have worked on destiny for years. Now destiny expansion got delayed, marathon got delayed and everyone is unhappy. I believe the same exact thing is happening at blizzard. Im sure the devs love their game and want to improve it but are being denied by higher ups. Its a shame because this could kill overwatch just like how the higher ups just killed destiny.

Jeff Cared. With the sale there’s 1 guy making balance changes via config file and 30 artist/modelers making skins.
Because they know what makes them more money.
They can have 1/2 their player-base leave every season as long as new people and whales come in and buy tons of skins every month. $68 bucks for 5 skins vs $60 for the entirety of OW1 (which is still the same game we’re playing, just with minor updates)
This game died a long time ago. We’re currently in the “Weekend at Bernie’s” phase, parading around in different hats.
I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be for any game dev to go on forums and other sources of social interaction to see people constantly question if they even care about what they love doing and have poured so much passion into.
As passionate or frustrated as some communities are, I’m sure some of these devs have to be feeling that far more and likely stressed out if their hands are tied because of upper management or other circumstances.
You guys sit here day after day whining when you have zero stake in these games. Sure, you might drop $60 or whatever, put in a few thousand hours sitting on your butts from the comfort of your home, lan-center or wherever, while devs of any game have an entire process and have to go between trying to meet the impossible standards of requests from management and gamers.
This isn’t to say criticism isn’t warranted. This is to say, it’s ridiculous to sit here and come to a conclusion devs just don’t care about what they do as a whole. I wouldn’t doubt game devs have individuals that don’t care. Those who don’t take pride in their work. Every field has that. I’ve always found it odd how critical some can be in that sense.
If the devs (or anyone) bothered to post here at all no one would be talking like this. You can’t complain about us saying they don’t care when they literally won’t talk to us.
The brief time the community ppl were here the forums got way better instantly, and they’re not even devs. And then I guess they stopped caring again.
Caring about what exactly? Caring about you? Or about their work on the game? Those aren’t the same thing.
Don’t confuse those two with consumer sentiment either. It’s easy to do that.
