Do I get endorsement penalty if I leave at the very start?

I sometimes play for more than an hour and getting the same map I don’t particularly like multiple times is something I’d prefer to avoid.
I only leave occasionally as I’d like to avoid getting minus endorsements, but I was never sure if it leads to a decay if I leave as soon as it throws me in.

I believe you should be good if you leave during the select screen.

Anytime you leave, except after the defeat/victory sign appears. Once a game begins (as in you are in the match), the penalties apply

Nobody will give you the facts, only blizzard can, I got the same question.

My advice as the first level 5 on this forum ^^, don’t leave back-fill or middle game, and try to ignore it a bit.

A dev already answered that question a few months ago, if you leave before the game starts you’re good.

My endorsement level went down randomly after chilling in the menus for 15 minutes.

I think endorsements simply expire after a set duration and sometimes that just happens to be around the time some players leave a game.

Edit: I just realized I was being punished because I sometimes leave after Assemble Heroes but before the doors open…
