Happy holidays!

Despite the complaints I think we should keep jade weapons exclusive to 2024 - if you make them available to everyone all of the time then they lose some of their special factor!

Weapon colours show that you were playing the game competitively in a given year and that you were dedicated enough to have grinded them!

It’s incredibly obtuse to make weapon skin variants seasonal in this fashion.

The rate of competitive currency granted is extremely poor relative to the time spent, making Comp Drives basically the only time it feels worthwhile to play.

The consistent refusal to reward any meaningful currency on loss while maintaining rather low rates per win largely turned me away from bothering with comp. The added stress is not worth it.

This system also underscores the relatively obtuse decision to give Quickplay players no real longer term rewards, and that’s pretty frustrating.

The only new information they gave us is that console players suck at jumping and that there will be one more “bigger than ever” drive event before Jade weapons become unavailable. Oh, and more information in 2025, of course. There, I saved you two minutes.

Before the balance patch earlier this week, he had about 3-4% lower win rate on console platforms than PC. This is sometimes the reality for heroes with leaping mechanics in Overwatch 2 on console, as we have seen the same phenomenon with Winston in the past. The large change in aim after can be demanding on a controller. We’ll keep an eye on this as Hazard slays (sleighs? lol) through matches throughout the holidays. If it becomes a problem, we have some ideas on how to bring these win rates closer together."

lol it’s tough on console for heroes like Genji/Winston. You need sens high enough that you can quickly flick but you also need to be precise to hit Winston’s alt fire and anything with Genji

You should see me on Black Panther. It’s disgusting. I have a trade off sensitivity where it’s way faster than most console players, but also slow enough for precision. I diff every single Wakandan with that simple little trick, but I also look really dumb when I do it.

Great… The next step in 6v6 after this will be a comp mode… Please!!! I’m LOVING the 6v6 play test and have been playing a lot of it and it’s truly the best way to play overwatch in my opinion.

No gaming until you finish your sundae.

Happy Holidays. As someone who’s extensively played OW1 and OW2, please, whatever you do with 6v6, keep 5v5 as the main mode. Keep it in the game and keep it the mode the game is balanced around. I really enjoy 5v5’s pacing over 6v6’s. Most players i know don’t care either way which format they play so it should be totally fine to let 5v5 and 6v6 coexist together.

Thanks,

Happy Holidays, Mercy Christmas, and please make 6v6 RQ permanent!

Also, please fix Hog’s alt Fire in 6v6 for those of us who had some sense and bound Pigpen to right-click.

On the topic of Competitive, this is the last season of the 2024 Competitive Year, which means you can expect some pretty big changes we’re super excited about and think you will be too, coming in 2025.

If it’s more rank resets then I’m not as excited. I know it’s something we’ve been doing for a while now but I don’t enjoy them often. I’m also hoping for news or changes on wide groups. Matches can be very unbalanced which I get is why they’re called wide groups in the first place, but it doesn’t make it a great experience.

I do like drives, it makes me more motivated to play competitive and it feels a lot more rewarding even when I lose. I just wish we had the option to keep whatever drives we worked for. It would be nice to make it a seasonal drive reward to keep and equip similar to old OW1 competitive rewards like the sprays and player icons.

Thanks for taking all of our feedback into consideration, it’s nice to feel heard.
(Also, what’s that jingle belle Mercy cardboard cutout doing there and how did you get her from my room? Please give her to me. It’s what I want for Christmas.)

Happy Holidays, Blizzard.

Wait, so Jade weapons won’t be possible to buy with Legacy competitive points, or is that just another patented team 4 miscommunication? If the former, then…why? I personally don’t like the look of the skins, but more options is always better and there will always be some that love them.

The promise of another S9 style shakeup is…worrying, to put it bluntly. Game hadn’t even recovered from 5v5 yet at the time and it is currently in a state of being unable to at all improve ever since S9.

And if, as Ley before me said, it’s more rank resets, then that’s equally terrible; the matchmaking changes along with the new rank system in general were another big factor in ruining the game’s feel.

And I hope that min 1, max 3 will actually allow the changing of roles so long as this rule is kept to unlike with kingmaker (that made absolutely no sense lol) with the balance changes for it involving a removal of blanket role wide passives and the healthpool changes from S9. (healing passive is fine, though)

Yeah, dropping the amount you get per time spent in-game was intentional to make people want to grind the FOMO weapon skins.

And then they realised they could ‘drive’ end of season engagement with competitive drives (see, it’s even in the name lmao that’s probably how they came up with the name)
